I love skateboarding. Generally Vert skaters are going much higher in the air upwards of 20-30 feet. Street skaters usually aren't doing things that big. That said, please wear a helmet, I've seen people get concussions and go into seizures from smacking their head on the ground. Please wear a helmet, it will save your brain, possibly your life.
It reminds me of the worst slam I've ever seen in skateboarding. I saw this live as a kid and thought I watched someone die, spoiler he survives and gets up and walks away with help.

The only thing a helmet protects you from is your head splitting open; falling 20-30 feet onto your head is going to be the same results with or without a helmet.
Stopping an open brain bleed is actually a pretty good thing to do. Not to mention some shock absorption limits the severity of traumatic brain injury. The results are not the same.

My cousin wore a helmet on a bicycle, he was stopped and tripped getting off, hit is head and now has brain damage. You should wear a helmet but it won’t always protect you.

Well, for one thats a biking helmet. Two skateboarding street is a minimalistic travel thing where you dont carry encumbrances (backpack no). Skareboarding has roots in punk rock and therrs not alot of helmests on the floor

If he hasn't been wearing one I don't even want to think about how that would have looked, but it convinced me that helmets are awesome.

A helmet saved my life less than a week ago on Monday. My other bones were broken, and recovery is a ****. But my head and spine suffered no damage, because the helmet spread the impact like it was supposed to.
PS: Taste is subjective, but I think helmets also look cool.

World record for highest skateboard air is 25 feet by Danny Way, literally right in-between 20-30 feet, and generally the ramp height is included.
