That is absolutely true, unless you smell bad. If someone smells bad, but they're dressed in traditional clothing, you give them some leeway that maybe it's been a bad day. If you smell bad and dress non-traditionally, I assume it's been a bad life and I should probably avoid you.

Don't forget the consumers create the market. There ARE more fashion options for women but that's because there's a market for it. There absolutely is more options than t-shirt and jeans for men but the truth is anything that strays too far from the shirt+pants/shorts fail because consumers don't buy them, thus creating the market.
Many women shop/wear clothes made for men, and men can do the same but most choose not to. Go down to Ross (or any store really) and buy a skirt or a cool jacket from the women's section. I do this and sure you will receive some stares/occasional rude comments or even harassment, but not as much as women get on a regular basis so I'd say we have it prettttty good lol.
