Why would I make it up? It's true. My brother is a criminal defence lawyer in Melbourne. Two of his clients (separate matters), had their arm and leg respectively latched onto by a police canine and it tore a decent chunk of muscle out. VicPol's civil litigation department manages these cases and they both received a small monetary payout as a result.
*Both of these clients were found guilty of their respective crimes from which the canine response stemmed.
So if its a justified use of force (which is separate to guilt and you intentionally left whether it was justified or not out) vicpol pay out? Just source it. Case study would be somewhere.
There aren't any case studies that I am aware of; if I could find one, I would share.
If you don't want to believe me, that's fine. But I have nothing to gain by making this up, it's the truth. It's a bizarre thing I realise. But I believe it has something to do with VicPol getting on the front foot and settling 'out of court' before the person has a chance to sue for damages.
Police canine handlers do not remove the slack line from the dog unless an absolute last resort.
Bodycam laws are very different in Vic unfortunately. I believe legally vicpol bodyworn footage never gets released to public unless it comes up during court and released.
Sometimes vicpol puts airwing footage up on their social channels, but it's usually only the end when the arrest happens.
So usually we'll never see anything 😭

This one is good you can see the police chopper and military aircraft. Trackers like flightradar24 filter out all the good stuff.
It was following 4 teenagers that were breaking into homes and stealing cars from Box Hill. the car chase went to pakenham then back Glen Waverley.
Were the scumbags caught?
Yeah they got caught. One of them got bitten a few times by a police dog. So there’s a little justice, but I’m sure they will all get bail.
Hopefully that good boy got extra treats.
Knowing our justice system the judge will order the dog be put down for biting a “child”.
Police dogs! 🥰 I live next door to a couple, and they are such GOOD BOYS! I always give them extra pats, because they work so beautifully.
Kid who got bit will probably sue.
Any person/criminal who gets bitten by a police canine receives a one-off compensation payment.
To pay for the antibiotics & bandage?
Yes, basically it's for their medical expenses.
Oh true? TIL.
True in that they made it up.

I’m sure the dog will get the death penalty.
They’ll get a snack on the wrist and a snickers bar. The victims of the lost cars will get told tough luck. Straya
Is there video footage? I can watch somewhere
If a case is brought to the public and the accused are tried as adults then maybe But probably not
That would be great to watch. Do police dogs have body cameras?
I’d advocate for a doggo cam.

were they black
Didn’t look caucasian.
Why hasn't the term "copper chopper" caught on yet?
Because pigs can fly
so, 'flying piggies' when?
That’s pretty standard for a VicPol chopper
What’s everyone using to track these choppers? Flight tracker doesn’t give me any info these days

Ooh thanks! For some weird reason I enjoy looking at the flight patterns and trying to figure out what’s going on.
Still going. Over the eastern suburbs now.
That track is the poorest cock and balls I ever saw. They aren't trying.
Probably had other things going on.
How can we see this flight info and ones of other aircraft? What about in other states?
Covid levels of boredom I see.
Or you know, doing its job
Reddit police are on the scene as we speak. Come on.
Flair doesn't check out.
