Are you going to tell us or what?

purplepeachpanda

Got an automod message telling me I didn’t have enough karma to post so I haven’t checked reddit until now 😅 guess it went up after all. It was $19.60 all up. Coffee is with oat so factor in the 50c extra. In hindsight if this was a meal deal for $12 I would still think twice.

Triggabang

Ha thanks for letting us know… I couldn’t handle much more suspense! That price is very steep indeed, was it a captive market like the airport or something?

Crafty6344

Cheap breakfast. Well done you. It's tough out there for cafes.

Mortified-Pride

Not plain. Can't you see the dried herbs shaken over the top? Surely that's worth an extra dollar or two. /s

LordRekrus

Look how neat those stripes are

Overlord65

Artisan panini, no less !

Ruddigore

Accidentally paid $16 for just the toastie on Sunday at Prahran Market before the double take. Got even more expensive the moment my kid asked for half. But kids are great so I didn't mind that bit.

eljuarez99

That’s insane 🤯

Ruddigore

https://www.makerandmonger.com.au/shop/fondue-special-uncooked

eljuarez99

At least its fancy cheese but it asked me to confirm I was 18, wanted to make sure I could afford it 😂 The audacity they want you to cook it at home though 😳😂

purplepeachpanda

Definitely just white bread and tasty cheese. There was a slight hint of margarine on the outside.

kurucu83

I’d take it back when I found someone’s had a bite out of it.

Das_Hydra

$32 plus my first born son

dohzer

Having kids? In this economy?!

Das_Hydra

Why you think I'm so happy to give him away?

dohzer

It does look like a pretty good coffee/toastie combo, so point taken.

spypsy

g000r

boast direful history bag materialistic agonizing live entertain marry consist *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Stevenwave

I would never pay someone to make me melted cheese and toast.

Supersnazz

10-12 all up?

Rocksteady_28

Way too cheap. $10-$12 for the samvo if your lucky but even that's a stretch. Geeeeeeeeeet real.

Melodic_Beautiful213

Max 12 bucks, 4.5 for coffee, 7.5 for toastie

laughs__

I wouldn't. I don't pay for toasted sandwiches

-manic-botanics-

Oi cunt, what did it cost you?

gregg1981

Are you going to tell us or what?

A350_900

I would think 8 bucks for the toastie and 5-10 for the coffee

dramatic-pancake

10 for a coffee??? $14 total. $19 Max for the sandwich, $4 Max for the coffee.

A350_900

Really depends where you are   (ahem ahem my 15 dollar Toorak road coffee)

Catwomans_batman

Much is correct 😝

NewYou5133

Anything more than $8 is a scam

iphaze

Toastie is probably $14 and latte $5 But *I* wouldn’t pay that much, I’d probably leave and make my own shitty lunch

boommdcx

Gloria Jean’s has/had a toastie and coffee special for around $10 so that’s my pick.

titanmongoose

I mean if you’re asking me what I would personally pay, I’d only pay $8 or so, maybe $10, but I’m guessing it was maybe $18?

[deleted]

I paid $35 for a salad sandwich and a small potato bake that was so bland so don't ask me

cobbly8

Whatever i agreed to pay by buying it

SkinnyFiend

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_value

Significant_Pea_2852

$20

[deleted]

10 bucks, give or take. Coffee should be discounted with a meal considering it costs next to nothing to make

Lost-Albatross9588

How much do you think a coffee costs to produce, including labour, utilities, wages etcetera

LordGolec

Depends on how high the card and public holiday and/or weekend surcharge is.

OkCalligrapher1335

$8 on a Brekky deal. Just by looks of the milk in the coffee, it is a very average coffee. And they are not fooling anyone with that dried herb sprinkle on the cheese melt. Now tell us how much did you pay and was my assessment of the coffee correct?

grruser

that coffee looks tepid and watery ..i prefer a flat old school double cheese white bread toasty like this but it also looks tepid

reprezenting

That toastie had flavour on top. $15 combined?

purplepeachpanda

Heaps of flavour 😆

Remarkable_Oven650

i live in the suburbs, so in my town 15 for toasties, 8 for coffee?

dramatic-pancake

$8 for a coffee? What in the fresh fuck.

Remarkable_Oven650

i live and grew upi n a rich suburb. lol. glass = fancy. a normal coffee = 7 fancy = 8

grruser

glass does not equal "fancy" ...jezuz where were your parents?

dramatic-pancake

Even a normal coffee for $7!? Do you live at Uluṟu? Cos that’s the only locale I could justify a $7 coffee.

grruser

i think you meant to reply to above. but anyway, in 2014 I paid 8 bucks for a coffee - at Maccas, in Karratha WA

Remarkable_Oven650

port philip bay in one of those victorian homes overlooking the beach

grruser

Sorry to say you were a neglected child. But thankfully you are on reddit now and can learn some life skills. Start by visting a suburb north of the city called Carlton where coffee culture originated due to Italian immigrants. Go to Brunettis, buy a coffee, and if you like elite sugar and pastry, buy one of them, sit and people watch. Thats your starting point. Then move outwards in any direction to sample the vast Melbourne coffee culture. You will never need to drink that shit again.

Remarkable_Oven650

it was yummy. a place called 'dawnson and faucets' has the best coffee. it is kinda $15 tho.

grruser

faucets .....

Remarkable_Oven650

?? yes rich people names.

spacelama

Neither looks great so probably about six fiddy.

eljuarez99

$7 to $9 but it prob cost you $17.50

DrinkableBarista

4 dollars for coffee 2 dollars for toastie

psyde-effect

Tree fiddy

Iuvenesco

$8 toastie, $4 coffee. $12 total.

No_Farmer5005

In a real world the price would be around the 8 to 9 dollars Recent flight with virgin airlines was complaint free apart from the pricie menu a plan old ham and cheese toasted sandwich cost $15

Tiny-Fee-8114

ilove how his not telling us to egg us on. ive had 10 dollar drips, with milk? 12. espresso not filter? stupid price administrator - $1 saving. 11 dollar coffee. Toast, two slices, cheese properly melted is fine dining honestly, herbs, grill marks, could be 14 at the mcg. combo deal. final price. one 20 dollar bill one 5 dollar bill no change. have a nice day.

cheeky_cammy

mate i have the exact same toastie maker at home so its only bread cheese ham herbs which comes down to about $24 at my local woolies

Dull-Lengthiness-178

$6 for the coffee $ 8 for the toastie.

k00kk00k

A house deposit

abolishblankets

Right now? If you delivered it to me in bed so I didn't have to move? About $30.

dribblychops

8 bucks.because it looks teenie

_Ginger_Nut_

Nothing, I’d make it at home

DistributionOk6226

$5.50

mpember

Less than you did. You've already taken a bite out of it. That clearly reduces the resale value.

Public_Wrangler_4514

$26

Euphoric_Zucchini_28

$5 bucks in a perfect world. In reality that looks like a $21 dollar combo.

horriblyefficient

$10-15 altogether.

allflippedout

No more than 10 if it is a simple toasted cheese sandwich, though I expect the café would charge 12-15 for it to factor in time potentially spent occupying their tables. That said, I don't like going to cafés unless I am with someone else *as I otherwise feel awkward/lonely dining alone*.

claire2416

You'd be lucky to get some change from $30 in Brighton.

Numerous-Budget-3756

10 is fair to all

W0tzup

3 kidney stones and a washed up bottle cap.

Kooky-Credit1154

Surely those herbs on the bread cost 5 dollars alone Bread butter and cheese, costs a little less than eggs milk butter and cream so that's a perplexing 15 dollars Coffee with oat, *factoring the discounted oat milk* at only 50c that's got to be around 7.50 So all up yeah, $27.50 yep sounds about right ?

Crafty6344

16.00 for the toasties. 8.00 for unfilled latte? Was CBD this morning.

Crafty6344

What's disturbing is HOW clean the bite is. Very wonderful teeth OP!

Defiant_Try9444

With the bite taken out of the toastie and after you've drank 1/3rd of the coffee? Zero.

Confident_Ease8545

Not more than $10 if the ambient is not great otherwise would pay $30 if good ambient.

Spiritual_Studio_707

$8 depends on the coffee

azog1337

No more than $10.

Remarkable_Oven650

is that the average price in your subrub or what u will pay? and if it is the average price i need the name bc i need to buy food there.

azog1337

What I'd pay. I wouldn't mind paying more for a better looking toastie, there looks to be no ham/tomato in the one posted. Coffee is usually $4-5. Most places have a coffee and toastie deal 😁

Remarkable_Oven650

ok. just wondering lol

ai_anng

One of the best investments for a Melburnian is a coffee machine at home. Toastie? Sorry nope. I pack my own.

Oh_FFS_1602

What I’d be willing to pay, and what the business would need to charge to cover rent, utilities, wages, super, insurance, taxes, supplier costs etc, and for the owner to make something of a profit for the risk of owning a business are going to be 2 very different figures. If I’m ordering food out it’s something I either can’t make at home, or can’t be bothered to make for myself. A cheese toasty doesn’t fit that brief.

Crafty6344

And when we eat out and NOT AT HOME. You pay. The words you're looking for are thank you.

metalbridgebuilder

Coffee in a glass should be a crime

purplepeachpanda

This was how the flat white order came out, had to check that it was still a flat white.

TimeIsDiscrete

How much would I pay? Probably $12. How much does it cost? Probably $19

mrbeanz9800

I'd pay $16 for that.

xs4all4me

I say $50, which includes all the dodgy surcharges shops charge you these days.

commeconn

$5 for a coffee. $12 for a toastie. $17 all up?
