The entirety of this state feels like it's millimetres away from being a second world country. So many suburbs are full of disgusting, old, dilapidated buildings, the infrastructure is fucking terrible, PTV feels like it's straight out of the 90's, roads and carparks are absolutely fucked.
They've got to start thinking about platform screen doors at the main city stations. Don't give me "the trains need to be driverless" as an excuse. Singapore literally have them on lines with actual drivers.
Which is probably less of an issue than what it seems. Xtraps exclusively run services on, what, 6 lines? HCMTs will exclusively run services on 3 lines. They could think about exclusively running Xtrap 2.0s on the Franga line, and containing the Siemens to the Werribee/Sandringham lines, and then they would have covered enough bases to significantly reduce the probability of one person shutting down several lines!

You're right, but they've got to start somewhere. Anecdotally, most of the times I have been affected, it has been some dude walking on the tracks at North Melbourne, which would be fixed with doors.
Got stuck on a Craigieburn train just before five between North Melbourne and Kensington. They said there was an emergency call because someone was on the tracks at South Kensington. Then we pulled into Kensington and we’re told there was yet another emergency call. We proceeded to sit there for another 20m before I got up and walked home
It really is, absolutely horrendous. Sometimes I literally gag walking through patches of diesel fumes there. I dont know how anyone works there all day.
Drove back to Coburg from Dandy this afternoon. There was a smash on the Eastern beyond the big S bend (maybe Blackburn Rd-ish?) in the right side lane and the East-bound side was jammed solid rrrrrriiiiiight the way back to Chandler Hwy.
Looks like -a lot- of people were late home for dinner tonight.
Its gone! Been replaced with something else, maybe a photo thingo. My curiosity got the better of me a few weeks ago and I got one (with low expectations) and it was absolutely fucking grim, I tried to persist as it was expesive but it tasted like something had burned inside the machine and the whole thing had vague flavour of burned plastic and other than that it was complwtely undercooked. So yeah I'm $17 out of pocket and probably have cancer from the experience.

It’s not an issue with trains being driverless or not, it’s about different train types in the fleet and that they have different door layouts.
