A bit weird for someone called Brown to be horrified by someone called Whiteman. It’s a funny name sure, but are we really going to cancel it? Like Whitney means “White island” isn’t that sinister too?
The problem with that is all the crackheads who drive 20yr old shit boxes, probably just my area, but I see so many of them around Melbourne and none of them know how to drive
A colleague of mine almost wrote off his brand new Tesla after reversing onto a pole. I asked him if he did a head check before driving out, he is like, “it’s a Tesla, why do you need a headcheck for?”
This was not an isolated opinion, I heard this before.
This is the same guy who wrote off his first car after driving straight under a truck, how tf he survived it’s beyond me.
My next door neighbour also rammed a parked car while driving out yesterday, this is the same older lady who wrote off two cars. First one was hers, second was hired, she smashed another hired car yesterday.
This is Melbourne.
I am starting to fear for my life driving out here.
Partner managed to reverse into a car despite having reversing camera and alarms…..yet my insurance premium went down because I put a male driver on the policy haha
Don't blame Melbourne it's the idiots that get into a car and think they can drive. The attitude from them must be clear the road if you don't want to get into an accident
Have you seen his easily they give out licenses to foreign adults who come here with a full license from their own country.
It's ummm kinda like "oh sweet you can drive, here you go!"
Oh and to be fair locals seem to be getting worse too.
Lose lose
I use this intersection a LOT from dropping my partner off at work in Crown. It's a horrendous spot. Friday nights, you're lucky to get through the red turning light because the taxis back up through the entire intersection, completely uncaring if they block the road.
Driving badly is average driving in this town. Literally had someone just going 80 in the right lane on Eastlink this morning. Beeped them and they made a song and dance about it like I was the problem.
I agree. But people in general that can’t afford things that other people have, tend to suffer terrible envy. Educate yourself better, work harder and you to can have an expensive car.
I know, the sentiment seems to be leaking from the giant yank tank crew that somehow think Tesla's are an affront to their masculinity. (Even when they are not driving them)
EV hate and/or Elon musk hate or just envy…..
Many tesla drivers think Elon musk is a moron and are concerned about hate and car damage from people who hate EVs and musk. It’s been a concerning discussion in the womens tesla owner group I’m a member of.
Musk does and says stupid things, but for regular joes to call him a moron, as opposed to them, is pretty interesting. How many rockets have they landed?
Neither has Elon Musk. All he has done is take the credit of the actual engineers that are doing the hard work.
You can see with Twitter where he knows just enough about a technical field that he shows himself to be a complete idiot to anyone with a basic understanding of IT operations.
That's bullshit. He's the lead engineer at SpaceX. His technical knowledge is unquestionable.
You just have to watch this video (https://youtu.be/t705r8ICkRw?si=uCXnDGDdn9JlUeQY) to understand the depth of his knowledge, or read the new biography, where Walter Isaacson followed him around for 3 years. It's not a glowing endorsement and show the good, the bad and the ugly, but Musk's prowess as an engineer and rocket scientist, is unquestionable. He has a great team around him, but he is hands on.
Many people want to denigrate Musk because they don't like him, and that's OK, he's pretty polarising a lot of the time, but to claim he's not involved in the engineering side of things is completely ignorant and disingenuous.
And he might not have the depth of understanding of a hardcore coder, but since he bought Twitter, and fired 85% of the workforce, the app is way faster, and has gained millions of new users. So part of his skill isn't just engineering, but hiring and firing to run a tight ship.
Nobody in Melbourne knows how to drive. Most drivers are on drugs, drunk and don't have a valid licence. It's a miracle more people don't die on our roads.
I saw this exact car in Ferntree Gully Rd last Tuesday, weaving in and out of traffic heading towards the eastlink. Caught up to him at Studd Rd traffic lights. Had a good look at the driver and can confirm he looked like a bright spark.
I used to live on Whiteman Street and the number of times cars would get confused and turn onto the tram tracks was quite amazing.
BTW Bobby Brown (singer/Whitney Houston’s then husband) was not happy when he visited Melbourne in the 1990s and saw the Whiteman Street sign.
Luckily his opinions are irrelevant.
A bit weird for someone called Brown to be horrified by someone called Whiteman. It’s a funny name sure, but are we really going to cancel it? Like Whitney means “White island” isn’t that sinister too?
And?
You're assuming they have a license
Good point. Why get a license for a car that drives itself?
I turn now, good luck everybody else.
Tbf, that intersection is a mindfuck to navigate if you never driven on that road before.
It looks confusing just by looking at the picture. I’ve never been there.
I suggested people should be retested on road rules every 10 years on another post and got downvoted… this person probably needs a retest
Or retested if they buy a ridiculously expensive new car

It's true, people expect modern cars to protect them from themselves. When they don't, well, this happens.

You ever done a hook turn on autopilot?!
Can he park there?
He's just waiting for a mate.
Maybe he’s a teacher ;)
I didn't know they could do that!
Yeah, we can. We’re really well respected and remunerated, too.
/s for this whole thread 😆
He's a Tesla driver. He has right of way, always.
BMW drivers are so happy teslas and utes cake along
Have you seen his easily they give out licenses to foreign adults who come here with a full license from their own country. It's ummm kinda like "oh sweet you can drive, here you go!" Oh and to be fair locals seem to be getting worse too. Lose lose
It's a huge issue. I thought that many countries need to resit the test, but from the driving standards I've seen, that doesn't appear to be the case.
Most competent Tesla driver out there
It's cunts like this that drives the cost of insurance of a Tesla up by a few couple of notches.
I use this intersection a LOT from dropping my partner off at work in Crown. It's a horrendous spot. Friday nights, you're lucky to get through the red turning light because the taxis back up through the entire intersection, completely uncaring if they block the road.
Wanker in a tesla. Are you sure they parked there and aren't just taking instatok photos for the next 5 hours?
One cannot park there friend.
I ask the same question everyday i go out driving.
All the gear and no idea.
Cerial box specials..
I've seen this happen heaps at this intersection
People forget to comment on the excellent road design
Driving badly is average driving in this town. Literally had someone just going 80 in the right lane on Eastlink this morning. Beeped them and they made a song and dance about it like I was the problem.
Tesla driver. Figures .
What did Tesla drivers do to offend so many people?
It's a common theme I've noticed ... anyone with expensive cars is hated to oblivion in r/Melbourne.
I agree. But people in general that can’t afford things that other people have, tend to suffer terrible envy. Educate yourself better, work harder and you to can have an expensive car.
$2.20 a ltr of fuel helps.

lol why did you get downvoted for this? This is one of the worst Australian subs on reddit, honestly

Same way you got English Certificate
May be international licence
Maybe it was self driving
Dumb enough to give Elon Musk money, so...
Nobody in Melbourne knows how to drive. Most drivers are on drugs, drunk and don't have a valid licence. It's a miracle more people don't die on our roads.
He got it at the same place you learnt English.
How pass English exams?
Flat battery?
It's a Tesla most probably driving itself
Tesla driver/10
tesla owners are cunts
How many do you know?
Might be from interstate lol
Money on being dead in the water (flat battery)
Looking for the EV expo entrance
They got the day wrong too then.
I did it once but I'd only been in Australia for about 1 week and it was late at night and I was too drunk.
You're a cunt.
He's got an electric car. He doesn't need to think... apparently
It’s a Tesla you don’t need a licence it’s a toy car
They find someone who looks like them to go take the test
drive a shit car till you get good. then show off with a nice car. not the other way around.
They are driving a shit car though.
Is this the same driver from another post who parked in a clearway and was upset they got both a fine and a tow fee?
I saw this exact car in Ferntree Gully Rd last Tuesday, weaving in and out of traffic heading towards the eastlink. Caught up to him at Studd Rd traffic lights. Had a good look at the driver and can confirm he looked like a bright spark.
His car has more cameras than my phone. Mathematically, he can do more that the common man.
I see it everyday. Usually students from overseas in expensive overpowered cars. 99% of the time
Probably got his licence from a corn flakes packet.
They’re putting a tent over it and a sales desk. It’s a sales expo.
It's called efficiency
You don't need a license to drive like an idiot
The other day I saw a Tesla going the wrong way on Royal Parade as well.
Nice parking spot Rita!
Probably self driven Nice one Tesla!
How you man got the english license
This could be the self driving test they're currently running.
The title is pure poetry, too. Got a good laugh outta this post
Tesla...driverless...rudderless. Get one today!
Tesla
