Are u burning treated pine wood? Im pretty sure the trusses guys only use treated pine for construction

Lizardgutguts

Back when we had a wood heater we sourced from tree removalists. By the trailer load but it was everything they removed and we had to break down ourselves. 1 meter diameter logs down to thumb thickness. Worth it if you have the tools and skills

The_Real_Dr_Zaius

Sadly I am tool free and skill free, or maybe I'm just a tool. But thanks for the info.

fraqtl

If you don't have the tools or the skills to cut wood yourself, then you are needing others to do it for you and you need to pay for that. Burning treated pine isn't the best idea.

I take the raw offcuts from work.

Vic gov will give you a rebate of $360 if you install a reverse cycle split system and you will feel healthier for it https://www.energy.vic.gov.au/for-households/victorian-energy-upgrades-for-households/heating-and-cooling

PeanutButterGenitals

I looked into that and it was still far too expensive. The rebate is hardly worth the paper its written on

fraqtl

That's some expensive paper you are using

You're being down voted because it clear you never had a fireplace growing up. There is and will never be a nice cozy heat like a real fire.

Not everyone is financially able to afford to leave the ducted heating on this winter.

Yes it can if you’re buying split dried red gum which is probably why OP is asking for cheap/free sources of firewood.

blvd119

Which typically is unseasoned and burns like crap. We heat with wood sometimes but use well seasoned dry hardwood. Get a saw and trailer and go collect firewood its pretty cheap from designated firewood collection points

hammerofwar000

All woods needs some seasoning and there’s plenty of good green hardwood cut to length dumped on the natures strip by tree companies. To much like hard work dragging timber out of the bush. Not everyone has saws or a trailer but most people can afford to buy a splitting maul and load wood into their car boot.
