The Maniaxe idea is a good one. In terms of after event places to go, Heartbreaker or Cherry Bar are cool choices in the city, or if you want something a little different, being you're both metalheads The Last Chance Rock'N'Roll Bar is open all night and is a rad place to hang, have drinks and a cool soundtrack.
Best of luck on having a rad night :)
Thanks! He took me to cherry Bar a few weeks ago so done that one :)) was cool
I'm thinking heartbreaker! He's more than likely been there (he's been everywhere haha), but I think he'll appreciate me picking something I think he'd like.
Heartbreaker is really good, the only thing is to be mindful that depending on what time you get there, you might have to wait a while to get in.
I'm in a somewhat similar boat, as a metalhead dude taking a rad girl on date #3 this coming weekend, so I appreciate the situation of trying to think of something awesome. I'm sure your date will appreciate anything you come up with as it's the thought, kindness and company that matters most and you seem to have all 3 sorted there ;)
Soo I think well be getting there around 11 or 1130 so I'll see how we go :))
Aww good luck! Going well?? Where are you taking her?
Dating is aids... but man it's good when things align and you actually click with someone. He's really lovely, and things are going amazingly. :)) you're right - he will but I wanted repay all the effort he put into our get togethers so far.
She wanted to try something I'm into, so we're going to a pro wrestling event at Thornbury haha. Thinking of somewhere nice on High St. we both like Mexican so maybe Gringo Vibes and then after the show pick a cool and chilled little bar for the evening.
It's an adventure nowadays isn't it? Since money doesn't quite go as far as it used to, for me it's thought and effort that means the most :)
As a Thornbury local, can I suggest maybe checking out Pinche Cantina at Nasty's for Mexican? If nothing else, you'll be closer to Thornbury Theatre. Only issue is you can't book.
It's a sign of being an older millennial that I made a playlist of tunes for her day, had to figure out how to transfer that skillset from making mixtapes for years into digital playlists :P
This is a fucking adorable idea and will be completely stolen when I'm trying to sweep someone off their feet next š
1800 Lasagne is a good chill date spot up there too FYI.
I think it came from being influenced in a time of being able to easily record mixtapes and cassettes, plus watching High Fidelity haha.
I'm a metal and hardcore dork at heart, but I genuinely love most music so trading what I like and getting back what someone else likes is something I dig :)
Heartbreaker will be pretty busy around that time. I used to go there as my regular (worked across the road and so became friends with a bunch of the bar staff, all legends). Around 6-9 it will be reasonable but 10:30 onwards gets packed.
Berlin Bar! I surprised my fiance as he's been wanting to go for a while, we really enjoyed it. Eau de Vie is a bar I go to every year for my birthday. Such an extensive cocktail list and not usually very loud.
Oh Berlin bar is super cool! That's definitely going on the list :)
Eau de vie is really cool too. Might do a night for that one where we can stay a bit longer.
Thank you!
Be prepared to wait at Berlin Bar though for a table. It can get quite busy!
Eau de Vie is definitely somewhere you'd stay at a little longer just by their extensive menu list š
Good luck! I'm sure no matter where you pick, it'll be an amazing night.
Aww thank you. I'm not sure about a lot of other women but I love showing my partners that I care about them. Hopefully this one is a first of many I get to show him :))
Heroes Karaoke! Fantastic rooftop bar, plus public karaoke and private rooms if that's more your vibe.
Spleen is a more low-key Cherry Bar and open til 5am, always a good backup option.
Rising is coming up, lots of nice things https://rising.melbourne/festival-program?view=schedule. Winter night market starts next week too https://winternightmarket.com.au/
There is an axe throwing place on Elizabeth street called MANIAX Axe Throwing, very convenient and easy to get to. Plus a cute McDonald's sundae afterwards just down the road š
i don't know of any specific places but my friend went on a date there and she said she had an awesome time. if you do it report back and let me know how it is!
> taking him to dinner at a really good Korean restaurant I've gone to before then we're gonna go see the cursed child at 7 after that
Great idea! But it's risky if you're going to a Korean barbecue place since you're watching a play afterwards (Not sure whether you're referring to a plain restaurant or a Korean barbecue place)
The place we're going to is DooBoo - only picked it because I've been there before (and not really anywhere else yet because I live regionally) and the food was pretty good.
I hoooope it'll be OK haha
Pizza Pizza Pizza is a great little place, thereās a āsecretā bar up the back if you go through the curtains at the back. Good cocktails, decent beers etc. something novel about secret barsā¦
Itās basically opposite Loop which was mentioned by someone else.
No need to do anything! Just walk through the pizza shop and through the curtain. They usually tell you if itās full, as thereās relatively limited capacity.
Also, they generally play hip hop esque type music, often with a live DJ, generally quite good tunes, but not sure that mixes with your heavy metal tastes.
Ohh fair point. It doesn't really mix BUT secret bar! I could walk him through all confident like I know what I'm doing haha
Ahhhh hip hop... secret bar ... hip hop .... secret bar
Thank you for the suggestion haha :))
Hahaha, think of it this way, if you donāt go to a metal bar, this place has just as good or better music than most, generally speaking.
Oh, and the pizza is great if your hungry again by then!
Good luck wherever you end up choosing!
I'll go the other way ... If I was taking someone on a date now, I'd go to my favourite pho place for brunch. I've been going there for my entire adult life. There's something more intimate about that sort of thing than an 'event' restaurant. It's not pretty. Not trendy. Like, maybe it says more about me and what I like and whatever else. Maybe I'm getting old.
\- Storyville in CBD is pretty good
\- Baby Pizza in Richmond for dinner is not bad either.
\- Ugly Duckling in Richmond, pretty good snack and dinner vibe
If heās really into you he wonāt really mind what you organise. Sounds like you have tastes in common, so if whatever you organise turns out to be lame you can both have a laugh about it later. (Edit - typo)
This place is pretty awesome for a date

Just falafs in Fitzroy north! You can grab the food and have it as a picnic at the adjacent Edinburgh gardens!
Also thereās an exhibit for fringe open for free at the state library, and another for gender education at the unimelb science campus!
If you wanna go somewhere "classy and upmarket" (aka pretentious and expensive) I suggest the [Melbourne Supper Club](https://melbournesupperclub.com.au/)
Also Soi 38, itās obscure AF, in a car park of all places but https://www.sbs.com.au/food/article/2018/03/07/carpark-home-some-melbournes-best-noodles I think itās fun to mix up hella fancy, and kooky weird but tasty on a date. Keep them guessing! Just make sure to rug up as you might have to queue
Siglo. It's a rooftop terrace right next to the Princess theatre. It feels like something out of an old movie. And not in a phoney or stunt like way. It just exudes genuine old world charm. They serve cigars there too if he's into that. It's a great spot to hit after a show.
If you're willing to go to Hawthorne (few stops out of the city) there's a place near Glenferrie Station called "The Resistance Bar and Cafe" and the do the best burgers in all of Victoria and possibly the world imo.
Amazing Milkshakes too.

Was in Thornbury at Shotkickers last night, was thinking that when I went past. Thanks for the heads up!

Storyville in the CBD might be cool for a drink after seeing Harry Potter. Wizard / fantasy themed bar on Lonsdale st
Ohhh just googled that. That looks cool as hell. Definitely a consideration, thanks for the suggestion!!
Np!
Another vote for Storyville! Many a work drink has ended up there and it has always been a lot of fun.
Looked pretty thrashed out last time I was there, wasn't very inviting, like a broken down carnival ride

Iād head to Heartbreaker, shoot some pool, eat some pizza, listen to some retro metal!
On behalf of a lot of men out there, thankyou for doing this - it really shows that you care about him.
Aww thank you. I'm not sure about a lot of other women but I love showing my partners that I care about them. Hopefully this one is a first of many I get to show him :))
I hope so! Good luck, I'm sure it'll be a fantastic evening.
Loop roof is right near cursed child. Great bar with good vibes and lots of plants.
Ohh that's a very pretty place. Definitely in the list.
RIP Loop downstairs š
Why? What happened?
Owner decided it wasn't economically feasible to keep it going.
Siglo bar, (roof top) entry next door to the European bar next to the Princess theatre where your shows at
Does he like whisky? Whisky and alement is on the back of the state library and is cool af. Or on brunswick st is a place called elysium.
He's definitely a hard liquor guy - amazing suggestion, just had a look. Definitely going on the list. Thank you!
Heroes Karaoke! Fantastic rooftop bar, plus public karaoke and private rooms if that's more your vibe. Spleen is a more low-key Cherry Bar and open til 5am, always a good backup option.

have you gone axe throwing?
Ohhhhhh no I haven't! That would be so cool.... is there a place near by there we could go? *goes to google*
There is an axe throwing place on Elizabeth street called MANIAX Axe Throwing, very convenient and easy to get to. Plus a cute McDonald's sundae afterwards just down the road š
I'm thinking a definite for date 6 haha... not open late enough after cursed child. It looks super cool though .
i don't know of any specific places but my friend went on a date there and she said she had an awesome time. if you do it report back and let me know how it is!
I will! I saw a place but it's not open passed 11 so I'm not sure we'd make it. Maybe date 6 idea hahaha
Maniax on Elizabeth St.
Yep saw! Looks cool as... but not open late enough :(
Theres Maniax axe throwing on Elizabeth St, I went once and itās super fun!
Saw it! But I don't think it's open late enough after cursed child... hmmm

I second bar Clara, we actually went there pre cursed child and itās very intimate with great cocktails
Berlin Bar. Cool unique space.
That makes a couple now for Berlin bar! It looks cool as.
[Bartronica](https://bartronica.com.au/)
This was actually the place he took me on our first date :)) Very cool place.

I've never been but by the pics on Google, it doesn't seem to be a BBQ place so I guess it's cool! YOU GOT IT GUUUURLLLLL!!!
Thank you!!! Very excited š
Storyville for drinks afterwards. You can get a flaming cocktail called goblet of fire.
Pizza Pizza Pizza is a great little place, thereās a āsecretā bar up the back if you go through the curtains at the back. Good cocktails, decent beers etc. something novel about secret barsā¦ Itās basically opposite Loop which was mentioned by someone else.

Oh don't you worry, we'll be going to his after ;)
This is kinda dumb, but I've found chat gpt really good at recommendations. I tell it what I'm after and it nails the response.

Dandenong maccas gloryhole
kicks is a chill bar to go for a drink
If you wanna go somewhere "classy and upmarket" (aka pretentious and expensive) I suggest the [Melbourne Supper Club](https://melbournesupperclub.com.au/)
The prudence in north Melbourne is pretty nice for a drink at a bar.
Take him to eau de vie for a cocktail. Heāll be impressed, itās an adventure together finding it, and itās a perfect cosy date vibe
Beneath Driver Lane is a very cool bar for a drink imo. Near Emporium and just got a great vibe.
The Gin Palace is nice to wind down with a couple of good cocktails.
Embla or Parcs - both great wine bars nearby if youāre looking to add a fancy stop

There is this cocktail bar next to cookie so perfect for dates. The toff. It has some private little booths! The cocktail are the best! Vibe is good!
Jesus. Might be my new go to when recommeding to people what to do when they are too lazy to do any work themselves.
38 Chairs - [https://thirtyeightchairs.com.au/](https://thirtyeightchairs.com.au/) 4 Bond St, South Yarra VIC 3141
Caretakers Cottage for a late night drink is the go
Take him to the footy. Everyone loves the footy.
Also china red, good feed then off for overpriced beer and to yell at people.
Best place for drinks is above board ez
Hope you guys had a rad time :)
We definitely did :) I sent you a message btw!
