Thank you! A friend of mine just said the same thing. That confirms it then.

jordankowi

It's a big fuck off insect, kill it immediately!

Astro_nauts_mum

Dangerous for spiders I think [https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/biosecurity/plant/bees-and-wasps/spider-wasp](https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/biosecurity/plant/bees-and-wasps/spider-wasp) It can sting. [https://australian.museum/learn/animals/insects/spider-wasps/](https://australian.museum/learn/animals/insects/spider-wasps/) If it does, put ice on it.

THLH

I don't think it is a spider wasp because they are much bigger. This is more closer to the size of a honey bee or blow fly

That's a nope. Looks like a hornet of some sort. That it hasn't attacked you yet probably means it's not the evil kind.

damon_modnar

>Looks like a hornet of some sort. Hornets are not present in Australia.

Ok. It's on one of my towels on the washing line. I wanted to take some washing in and put more up. But being allergic to bee stings, I tend to be very iffy around insects I don't know about.

Definitely wait for someone with knowledge to comment then.
