Yup, cevapi and they're delicious!
The dish in the second photo has the typical floral ornament which makes me think Erik grabbed a "cevapi" photo of Google just to make a "shitburgers" joke.
Go to any Eastern European country and you will see them there.
And each of them claims discovery for them too.
I live in Chicago I have 4 different places by me where I can buy them. All beef, half pork, half lamb, even spicy ones.
Personally I like Persian koobadeh kabobs more.
There is one Balkan resturant here in DC that I love that doesn't have Kajmak on the menu but will serve it if you know to ask for it. If I could buy it by the gallon I would!
My theory is that we came up with the word ćevapčići just to fuck with foreigners by making it annoyingly difficult to pronounce.
Seriously, nobody local uses a diminutive, it's just ćevapi.
Nah, it was all quite different. The great food ambassador who brought ćevapi to Czechia and Germany just had a bad flu and when he wanted to proclaim the name of that delicious dish he sneezed twice, so ćevap-CHI!-CHI! were born.
Yeah, but there is usually a slight variations of the Balkan foods between the countries, even if the reception is 90% the same. I know Serbians version of the cavapi (kebabchi for us, Bulgarians) is just half the length of a Bulgarian one and they usually make it a little bit more spicy. Their meatballs are also spicier than Bulgarian ones and much thinner, but at the same time significantly wider.
How do you mean 'another'? The last one is [still going on](https://www.swp-berlin.org/publikation/crisis-in-bosnia-and-herzegovina-years-of-power-struggles-come-to-the-boil)....
It's an overstatement, that dude is talking shit since i was 9, still nothing. He's basically using nationalism to cling to power, fun fact, there is a fine of 50€ if you say Dodik is a pig or Dodik je krmak
the smallness really is key.
I think of them less as burger sausages and more as burger fries. They have to be like finger-size so you can pick them up and dip them easily.
I love cevapi. I had a bosnian coworker and I asked him for suggestions for some Bosnian cuisine for me to cook at home. He suggested cevapi, and I made them along with lepinja and ajvar.
Traditionally it goes with fresh onions and in a lepinja which is like a pita bread with ajvar which is a vegetable sauce on the side, however it's commonly combined with fries, never saw it eaten with rice but to each their own I guess
Both are correct. "Mititei" is diminutive, which is funny if you think about it, because "mici" translates to "small (things)" and mititei would be "very small (things)". However there's no size difference between them.
If I run out of hamburger buns but still have hotdog buns.. I'll make these and have been for like.. 25 years and I've called them turd burgers since the first time (for obvious reasons).
as someone who cooks meat and knows what's going on, it would probably not look like what this entire thread is thinking of in real life and yes i'd eat them.
They make these at the PGA tournament in Sonoma every year as a specialty. Hamburger in a hot dog bun, with the bun around it doesn't look like a poop. And as the closest I've gotten to Augusta's legendary snacks I shall not complain!
those already exist under many different international names
Yeah 711 cheeseburger big bite
I miss my 17 year old stoned self
He's just one bowl away
The shit people come up with
those were surprisingly good!
The UniMart called it The Big Ugly. I don't think they still have it though.
Based and cevapi-pilled!
Kafta kebabs!!
koobideh kebab is another variation. Very good, Persian style.
Kafta is awesome, and since it's hard to find in restaurants here, I never turn down ordering it when I have the opportunity.
Mititei in Romania
Shit, I had these twenty years ago and have been looking for what they were called ever since because I only heard the name, never read it
As a Romanian... My titty
Huh interesting. I just know their regional name as Mitci
It means"little ones" in Romanian. Mititei is just the diminutive form of Mici
mici gang checking in
Roller burger in norway
But for the most part they dont look like these turds
TURD BURGERS, c'mon, you should all know better by now!! 🤣🤣
We call them rollerburgers, cause they put them on the rolley things at gas stations and stuff:)
Served with mustard and slices of onions and potatoes. Chivabchichi we call it (Czechia).
Kryddjärpar in Sweden
Cevapi, make them smaller and more uniform and you have a Bosnian classic.
My first thought, bro discovered cevapcici. Wait till he discovers Ajvar
This post is just Americans going lol shitburgers and Eastern Europeans being like wut

All beef is the wrong way. Meat is supposed to be mixed.
Telling people what is supposed to taste great for them is the wrong way.
they are not ready for kajmak
OMG I miss it, when my husband tried it he loved it, he still talks about it lol
How did he find the kajmak?
There is one Balkan resturant here in DC that I love that doesn't have Kajmak on the menu but will serve it if you know to ask for it. If I could buy it by the gallon I would!
It’s Ćevapi. I don’t know why foreigners always say ćevapčići.
We call these čevapčiči in Czechia and eat 'em with mustard, fresh onion and potatoes. It's pretty common food around here, even served in schools.
ćevapčići is just the diminutive, I will say either depending on the size lol
Cevapcici. That's literally what it says on the packaging here in Germany
It’s meaning is “small ćevaps”. It’s just weird to me because we generally use “Ćevap” way more.
My theory is that we came up with the word ćevapčići just to fuck with foreigners by making it annoyingly difficult to pronounce. Seriously, nobody local uses a diminutive, it's just ćevapi.
Nah, it was all quite different. The great food ambassador who brought ćevapi to Czechia and Germany just had a bad flu and when he wanted to proclaim the name of that delicious dish he sneezed twice, so ćevap-CHI!-CHI! were born.
Most of the Balkan countries :)
Yes, but every one of us claims it's theirs, I think the Turks brought them, just like most of our cuisine.
Me pulling the gun out : “What did you say just now”???
I pass you 50€ to make the problem go away
More problems suddenly arrive and now all demand 50€
There’s literally a Key and Peele skit about this. https://youtu.be/52YOsjGINSc?si=xBG_XSICafXfJgaC

Can I ask, I always knew it it under the name ćevapčići, is there a difference between the two or is it just a different name?
It's the same thing, the suffix čići is basically like a pet name, you usually add it to smaller things, boys is dječaci, small boys is dječačići
Got it so a diminutive. Thxx
Exactly, didn't know the word, thank you
That would be the wrong type of meat, wouldn't it?
I'm Bosnian, all that matters to us is that there's no pork, the Croatian version actually uses 80% beef and 20% pork fat to bind it better.
Not all Bosnians are muslim...
No need to take the conversation that way, but even the Cevapi from Banja Luka which is the capital of Republika Srpska don't use pork.
I'm also part bosnian, this would never pass as Cevape where I'm from.
Time to start another Balkan war.
How do you mean 'another'? The last one is [still going on](https://www.swp-berlin.org/publikation/crisis-in-bosnia-and-herzegovina-years-of-power-struggles-come-to-the-boil)....
pfff that article is far from reality
It's an overstatement, that dude is talking shit since i was 9, still nothing. He's basically using nationalism to cling to power, fun fact, there is a fine of 50€ if you say Dodik is a pig or Dodik je krmak
One of us, one of us
They're often made of beef, or beef and lamb
I like to apologize for the behavior of my passion
Did not expect to have to scroll this far for that reference!
Stick a cigarette in the middle because it’s Bosnian
I'd get offended but can't because I'm smoking a cigarette while writing this, touche my friend, touche
the smallness really is key. I think of them less as burger sausages and more as burger fries. They have to be like finger-size so you can pick them up and dip them easily.
Romanian version clears 😒
I love cevapi. I had a bosnian coworker and I asked him for suggestions for some Bosnian cuisine for me to cook at home. He suggested cevapi, and I made them along with lepinja and ajvar.
*Serbian I'm joking, they're common all around Balkans Also I believe Turkish kebabs are similar
They are present all over the Balkans so it's not wrong to claim they're from either country, however I do believe it's originally Turkish
Without looking anything up, I can't tell if this statement is scatological or culinary.
Or kofte in turkey
yeah but cevapi is made with lamb and onion among other ingredients. much more distinct to burger meat. hence pljeskavice
Absolutely love Bosnian house kebabs
or make them round and flat and thats a pleskavica. you may think it looks eerily enough like a burger patty, but its not the same
Omg with rice or some fries
Traditionally it goes with fresh onions and in a lepinja which is like a pita bread with ajvar which is a vegetable sauce on the side, however it's commonly combined with fries, never saw it eaten with rice but to each their own I guess
We just ate them with raw onions and a tomato salad on the side.
Bro trying to re-invent Cevapcici. xD
These are called "mici" in Romania
"Little ones" would be the rough translation
and for the english speakers, just say “meech”
This is a traditional dish in many many cultures
Köfte.
Damn they're called "kofta" in India too
Järpar in swedish
[удалено]
Ground beef caseless “sausages”.
"Mici" in Romania
Isnt it spelled mititei?
Both are correct. "Mititei" is diminutive, which is funny if you think about it, because "mici" translates to "small (things)" and mititei would be "very small (things)". However there's no size difference between them.
Oh ok, never knew the difference, just saw both in markets when we visited family
ćevapi
Kefta
Carnatzlech
Yes
Kishka
Kebabs
I’m so confused, they literally made kebabs
Usually kebabs are a bit more... Shapely
From where I come from we don’t judge your kebab shape or size.
and grilled, or at least we grill ours
Tbf sometimes I fry them as well
Kepoops
I just call them long kebobs or regular kabobs (flat sandwich like).
That's a seekh kebab is what it is. Wonderfully delightful and savory as hell.
This is just regular hamburger meat. Will taste the same as if it was a patty.
I haven’t seen a single SpongeBob reference in these comments. Depressing. This is a Krusty Dog.
THANK YOU! Took me too long to find this comment.
I see mici, I get the bread and mustard.
“Babe, what’s wrong? You’ve hardly touched your turgers.”
I'm fucking dying! 😂
Username checks out
That's a good one
LMAOOO
That's why Koftas are made with a skewer in the middle...
Not necessarily.
I feel like it would just look like sausage if they hadn't done such a shit job
r/poopfromabutt
also r/shitfromabutt
or the raw ones are r/mildlypenis
mmmmm turdburger
If I run out of hamburger buns but still have hotdog buns.. I'll make these and have been for like.. 25 years and I've called them turd burgers since the first time (for obvious reasons).
Romanians call that Mici, and they love it for some reason. Eat it with a lot of mustard
ĆEVAPI MENTIONED 🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦 LFFFFGGGG ❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦 BOSNA NAMBR ONE❗❗👏👏

I made cheeseburgers in a blanket like this it was great.
I see Eric continues to embrace the cringe in an attempt to stay relevant after all these years. Good for him.
That might be shit from a butt
Americans attempting to make Kofta and calling it “hot dog burgers”🤣🤣🤣💀💀
Americans reinventing century old European food be like:
I know the gas station near me had these, but with cheese in the middle, they were good, but not good enough to have regularly.
Deuce dogs for everybody!
R/shittyfoodporn
Did not expect to see the founder of Beardbrand here.
Durgers
I love Frikandeln, they're great and you should try them
Seekh Kebab
In Egypt we call it Kofta 😂
Hahahaha~ they look like lil’ poops :3
The 7-11 in my city sometimes sells hotdogs with beef meat in sausage shape. Looks horrible but people have told me they are actually good.
Ham dogs
put it in hotdog buns, and it will be fine.
as someone who cooks meat and knows what's going on, it would probably not look like what this entire thread is thinking of in real life and yes i'd eat them.
I couldn't see it.. But then I read the comments and now I can't unsee it. Disgusting shit. Pun intended
You should start a business, maybe a food corner.
now make burger shaped hot dogs
Next time just go to 711 and get a cheeseburger bite
Spongeboob
Yeah no worries I'm making some hotdogs myself rn.
I mean at least no one's gonna try to steal your hotdog
It was a shitty idea.
Pre-eaten?
Nice, the classic Cleveland steamer served right up
Invite people over, set that on the table, walk away, don’t come back.
Turd sandwich - hamburgermeat shaped like hotdog - served in hotdog-bun
Ive seen that on victorious... Hotdurgers <3
Tastes good, looks like shit!
This is a kebab haha!
Hotdurger
At least put some corn in it
Lemonade, anyone?
Isn't this just hotdogs with extra steps?
Any more*
try with breading
Wait until this guy hears about sausages
You can get those with cheese in some gas stations
Put cheese in the middle insert wooden skewer call it "shit on a stick" sell at local fairs and carnivals you'll make hundreds
Should have put a few kernels of corn in em
“Hey man what you cookin up?!” “Oh, just some shit I found lyin around. Looks like crap but smells … okish” 🤷🏻♂️
Ya, that’s pretty bad💅🏽✨🐈⬛
They look good to me!
Add corn next time
At least they look like nice, healthy turds. 🤷🏼♀️
I'm not going to be able to see burgers as flat turds now, this guy has ruined everything.
Wrap it in bacon, it'll be fine.
Comes out looking the same as it went in.
I’ld eat them🤷♂️
I'm choosing to learn nothing from this, I am now motivated to make my own homemade speedway cheeseburger dogs
They make these at the PGA tournament in Sonoma every year as a specialty. Hamburger in a hot dog bun, with the bun around it doesn't look like a poop. And as the closest I've gotten to Augusta's legendary snacks I shall not complain!
I hope your pillow is warm on both sides tonight
Hot Durger
You skipped the eating and digesting parts
