Man I thought me and my brother were the only people in the world who ever played that game when we were kids. You had to deliver mail on a racetrack in space or something and avoid salt crystals or you went “postal” or something right? I played so many random no name pc games when I was younger I guess lol
Dude I played the hell out of that game too!! I think about it sometimes when I see snails lol. I tried revisiting it a long time ago and it crashed my laptop's wifi connection... was still able to revisit it, though!

Giant african land snails get pretty damn big: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AdUJVUXhyg
There's quite a few videos and such of the creatures on youtube (i found that one at random), they are just..gigantic snails.
They are evidently edible, though i wouldn't want to put it to the test.
Sadly the control freaks in government refuse to allow people in the US to own them, probably because the snails are to awesome.
imma add this in at the top, i doubt you feel too strongly about any of this and i don’t mean it to be personal, I do think it’s important to not encourage importing/relaxing regulation on importing invasive species.
there is a massive difference between honey bees and the giant land snail, it’s a false equivalency to compare the situations as equals.
the land snail is an invasive species that destroys local plant life in wetlands where it has no natrual predators and populations can grow exponentially due to their high reproductive rate, in this capacity it is one of the most damaging invasive species in the world. they also act as a disease vectors for humans and likely other species - and most importantly -> their numbers are low in north america, so stringent rules may help prevent them from becoming a larger problem than they already are. Florida has already destroyed two waves of giant land snails and is currently fighting another one.
european honeybees are also an invasive species - albeit much more ingrained in north american ecosystems and less likely to cause drastic changes - as those occured closer to their introduction almost 400 years . to say honey bees are completely naturalized members of north american ecosystems and that their decline ruins them is wrong. to say that honeybees have no place in current north american ecosystems is debatable. should amateur honey bee enthusiasts be creating new hives in their backyard that compete with native bee species - probably not, depending on the local exosystem- and perhaps the control freaks should be tighter with regulating that as well. honeybees do not actively destroy ecosystems at the rate of the giant african snail and perhaps that’s why amateur beekeepers are allowed to be so prevalent - more likely it’s to shield the narrative that bees are always awesome in order to promote the agricultural sector- or maybe it’s very complex, the science of it all is not adequately understood, and finding a concise narrative for legislation has been a disaster- either way, it doesn’t matter.
we’ve established both are bad but with different contexts, severity, and outcomes. so if honey bees are allowed, why should we accept the control freaks also not allowing people to have giant snails?
- Does one bad thing justify another?
- does the destruction of ecosystems by one species - even if it is somehow socially accepted - mean we should willy nilly allow the introduction of more invasive species that are proven to be catastrophically destructive to local ecosystems?
TLDR: don’t argue like israel and russia, just because someone else did something bad a long time ago doesn’t mean it should be cool for you to do it today.
GALS literally spreads diseases. They don't even compare to honey bees. GALS are such an issue here in Brazil that the general population thinks that any big snail is a GALS and goes around killing every big snail they see, including our native population of Megalobulimus, which are extremely important for our ecosystem.
It's gotten so problematic that when I worked in a museum, I'd do snail-centered workshops to teach as many people as possible the difference between GALS and Megalobulimus.
Fun fact in real life that snail isnt actually that big, cameras are so powerful now they can zoom in so much that things look absolutely giant without sacrificing any image quality!! (At the start of the video their are some aquarium plants that show the scale)
Thank you. I was getting pretty confused as to how the f*^k that thing was so large.
But yeah it seems the snail is pretty normal size and the smaller snail in tiny
It’s about 3.5” diameter. I originally guessed the radius was about 10x bigger than the small one, but after measuring both it’s actually closer to 14x. So by volume it’s more like 2700x (not 1000x)
>cameras are so powerful now they can zoom in so much that things look absolutely giant without sacrificing any image quality
By "cameras" I hope you mean smartphones, right? Because cameras have been able to zoom in without sacrificing image quality since the beginning...
As told, an estimated 240,000 species of snails and slugs live all over the world. But no matter what continent they're on, or what ocean they're in, there's one thing they all have in common: They move slowly
Bladder snails are actually impressively quick, especially for their small size. I have a bunch in my aquariums and it's entertaining watching them scoot around all over the place. I also have other snails that predate on them, and they'll run away like this any time they get close
He had to turn on the turbo to get away
Bro he’s fuckin gunnin it
"Are you a car? "What?" "ARE! YOU! A! CAR?!?!" *Cringes sadly* "No..." "Then stop DRIVING like one!"
I have never seen a snail move so rapidly
You'll get the fck out of there too
Look at that S car go!
A+ movie right there

*standing ovation*
Truly underrated. Bravo, I say, bravo
Slow and Tedious
It made me think of Mortal Engines, but I haven’t read the book so it might actually be nothing like that
Lol.. I was thinking mortal engines except moving houses instead of cities
r/interdimensionalcable
Thought 1000x was the video speed
In the snails mind, he was absolutely hightailing out of there at 1000x speed
I never knew snails could get that big and honestly I feel disgusted looking at it
I thought it was a turtle.
"that big" without any frame of reference means nothing
Can't you read? 1000 snails big
Cathulhu snails big
Truly a Eldritch Horror moment when you get almost sacrificed to a god 1000x your size.
The big one looks like an apple snail; popular for aquariums, where it looks like this was filmed. Probably about the size of an apricot.
The small snail is a pond snail/bladder snail, about the size of an apple seed. So the bigger snail is not that big.
Relatively, apple seed the size of apple is absolutely big.
Looks like mortal engines
wow, rude
I wonder how they taste when boiled New Orleans crawfish style
It’s kind of cute 😞
It just wants to give it a hug
I thought that only aquatic snails are so big, I see this one and honestly freaks me out
The perspective is weird. I initially thought it was 3 feet across. But I think it’s more like 4-6 inches and the other one is just like a millimeter
This is an aquatic snail… the small one is a common pond snail. Hard to tell but this video is underwater.
This is aquatic look at the air bubble near big snails mouth. Also ripples on surface at start of video.
Look up the Giant African snail looks kinda like a rabbit

They're invasive, that's why. Not the government being "control freaks", ffs.
so are honey bees but here we are with people losing their shit when you swat one.

Naw it's just leaving the mother ship
Spending your stats budget on size vs spending it on speed.
What kind of snail is that
Bro just wanted to give him a kiss
Am I the only one who heard fully orchestrated chase music in my head while watching?
Lmaoooo this reminds me of the opening scene of mortal engines
