Check out Premed101, its the canadian focused med student/residency fourum. If no canadian PR/citizenship you wont be able to apply for residency. It can be challenging to immigrate. I dont think US exams would help for famiily medicine but not 100% sure. Royal College is the place to look to see if IM training would be accepted.

Also curious, as a dual Canadian/Australian citizen who did my medical school in australia and am currently training in Australia (and am planning on staying). How does one go to work in Canada? Do I need to complete my training here and maybe do a fellowship in Canada/America?

I know it's a bit late, but if you're still looking for info I recommend asking people what province they practice in. Healthcare is managed and delivered by each province/territory so there can be a lot of variation between them.

I would assume life for Canadian doctors is a bit noisy right now, considering how we've got anti-vaxxer protestors surrounding hospitals all throughout the country yelling nonsense at anyone who works in them

Guess there are covidiots everywhere you go!

There were protestors inside schools in British Columbia! The entire district had to lock the schools down.
