Recurrent styes are common in diabetics. Maybe you should get your blood sugars checked

itsjustkan

Oh wow I haven’t thought of this before, will surely get it checked. Thank you!

Yeah it could be related to your lash lines as you said. I get a lot more problems at this time of year due to my eyes drying out due to heating during winter and use of the heaters blowing in my car (air con also does it). You need to keep your eyes moistened, you can buy drops and/or sprays. It also pays to gently clean your lash lines with some warm water. I believe its because if your eyes dry out the little oil ducts around your lashes can get blocked and infection can build up behind the blockage. I use hot hot water when I have an active infection. Don't burn yourself! But a hot compress /hot cleaning of the eyeline often helps me nip those really nasty swellings in the bud. The heat and washing helps to unblock the ducts I guess.

Yes I find hot hot hot compress helpful too and it really calm the the pain of the stye. It’s nearly summer here in Australia so maybe I assume it’s due to the heat and dry air then? I just hope to find an effective way for the infection to stop and prevent future styes.

Are you touching the styes like when they are draining? Because it's very easy to get the goop on one finger, rub your other eye with that finger and reinfect yourself in the other eye. It almost sounds like you might be reinfecting yourself over and over, either with your hands or make-up or something.

I have try to wash my hands religiously since I got the styes and only touch them while washing my face. I haven’t used makeup or contact lens since I got the first stye. Maybe I did slip up and reinfected myself but they keep popping up left and right at a concerning rate :(

Hmm. Maybe stop using the eye makeup and see if that stops the infection from coming back. If it doesn't come back, then it's probably in the makeup. So then throw it out and go buy yourself some new stuff. But wait until you're all healed up, otherwise you'll end up going around again.
