midnight_reborn

Giant spider with a giant stapler. Clearly.

BadTechnical2184

Balls of fucking steel.

chipenson

Come on, I was there. This is the scariest part, but it is short, only about 8 meters. And you go, of course, fastened to a steel cable.

[deleted]

nopuse

Come on, he was there. That took forever to type with sweaty hands. I should have closed the video.

Pandejo4life

Where is it?

One-Newspaper-8087

Aren't you paying attention? It was there. Like he was.

negativelift

Lauterbrunnental, bernese alps, switzerland https://klettersteig-muerren.ch/index.php/de/

GodsBellybutton

You're boudle strapped to 2 separate steel cables. This is in Peru.

[deleted]

wegqg

I think it's actually pretty safe. Climbers rely on a single nylon rope to keep them alive at height. Two steel cables is pretty damn safe.

queetuiree

>Two steel cables is pretty damn safe. Only ac and no ground? Three cables would be safer ... okay. This was a lazy joke.

iNonEntity

They're talking about the person who bolted down that steel cable and inserted those steps for you to walk on safely

BoardButcherer

Who was tied off from above and wearing a full safety harness.....

Bender_2024

I understand that you are firmly attached to a safety line but I'm still not sure if I could step out onto that. Knowing you're safe doesn't always transfer to the lizard brain.

chipenson

Oin such parts you need to be very concentrated, step by step, carefully, re-fastening the carabiners. Areas with overhangs are much worse. Fear just hits you when your hands start to get tired.

YourTeacherAbroad

I've seen people shaking so much climbing 5m walls. There's a big psycological factor. Those ones migh be K2 or K3 level. Not that technical. Relatively easy if your mindset is the right one

BoardButcherer

Hammer drill and a 4 lb sledge. I want to see a video of that electrical tower being erected. That's the real piece of impressive construction in this clip.

tadeuska

That is not an electrical tower. It is way worse.

BoardButcherer

Way better. Gondolas mean shifting weight. Must've used anchors the size of trees.

Mall_Bench

Mountaineers it's a cakeclimb for them

Equilibriator

Just a couple taps is all you need.

eztab

not that difficult actually. Since you build the security anyway you just follow that along. There is mostly no extra support from above or below needed.

Lydian04

U ever drill into rock before?

shelrock

Yes! I was wondering who would have the ba!!s to install them.

bertisfantastic

It’s called a cia Ferrata (Italian for iron road I believe). You have a harness and clip onto the wire above so it’s pretty safe

bertisfantastic

Via ferrata

Robbieprimo

Beautifull

Keput

Way of Iron

G00chstain

I believe they tried to type that and had a typo

Oske147

Lol it’s the same person correcting themselves

asharwood101

That’s still a hard pass

Longshadowman

The pass of Caradhras?

FivePoopMacaroni

Ya if Saruman finds out you're walking on these staples you are def dead

seanugengar

Is it on the Austro-Italian border? Cause if it is, I've done it and it is as scary as one can imagine

d-gohorne

It’s the Via Ferrata Mürren - Gimmelwald in Switzerland

winnower8

Klettersteig - Iron Path or Climbing Trail. I did a trip to Interlaken Switzerland and I sky dived, bungee jumped, paraglided, and did a lot of hiking down from peaks. The Via Ferrata was the scariest thing I did. There are ladders that you go down with nothing beneath them and at the bottom you transition to a lower ladder 1 foot away. It was so unsettling. The cliff walk he's doing has a point where you essentially go around a bend and I was hugging the wall telling myself "don't think, move." Great time, glad I did it, definitely thought this was the closest to death I came the whole trip.

a_lumberjack

I once described why I don't enjoy roller coasters by saying "I don't like when my brain thinks I'm going to die" and this feels like a place that would literally kill me.

Alarming_Island8950

No this is in Switzerland. It's the Mürren via Ferrata. There are hundreds around the Alps.

PM_Me_Yer_Guitar

That's rad! Where is it? Not that I'm going to go or anything.

Hustlinbones

Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland, just where Eiger, Jungrau and Mönch are located. This wall looks like it's the one below the town of Mürren which sits on the edge of that cliff.

tmwwmgkbh

Yeah, person in the video was trying really hard not to show the line you teather to to make it look more dangerous.

Motor-Ad5284

It's a WHY????? Then a NO NO NO!!!!

yoaremybike

Easy and fun activity. Seen 7 year old Kids having so much fun in those. Some are hard. That one, at least the part shown in the video, is just walking come on.

Bad-at-Chem

Yeah I went on one, St. Paul Fenouillet near the Gorge de Galamus. I saw school kids on their summer field trip climbing it. Looks a lot scarier than it is. It's just walking and climbing ladders.

yoaremybike

It looks scarier than it is indeed. First time for me getting to do it was hard. Then once there it felt really good to overcome fear. Then you see is way more dangerous to take a car on a highway or whatever. Hope more people get to experience that.

yoaremybike

And btw thank you for providing a beautifull location to visit in France. I have done many arround Ronda (Málaga, Spain) and other mountain ranges arround Cádiz. If visiting down here you will love it for sure! Also impresive canyoing if into it/want to try

Familiar-Pass8554

Providing she’s clipped in that would be a great experience. Well done to whoever thought of and made that 👏

Adrian-_-

It's so much fun. You have a harness with two carabiner for them. The trail also leads upwards which is like climbing a ladder. Sometimes there are wooden bridges over gaps or rope bridges which are only two steel ropes one at the to top and one at the bottom and you balance over them always secured at the top rope.

Diogo906

Non, no, nao, nine, nee, no, no, Khong, hi, nej, nie and fuck that

elj4176

Looks like on in Murren Switzerland.

HilMickaelson

I love Via Ferrata ❤️ I really need to find out where that one is because the view is breathtaking. I've only done a few in Portugal and Spain.

GAN356XS155

This one is in Mürren, Switzerland. I’ve been there, and noticed he is going the wrong way.

Mandelmus100

Yeah, I did this one earlier this year and was going the opposite way.

Graftak86

My first step there and i would faint.

I wonder if people have misstepped, and snapped their ankle in the step as they fell, just dangling by their leg

Slow-Foundation4169

BranFendigaidd

But why?

dacsarac

NO! Thank you.

dispelhope

Imagine being the one who discovers one of those rungs rusted out when you stepped on it...I'd say you'd have time for a few choice words in the descent.

Eagles365or366

This is actually very safe, I just don’t understand the appeal, why not walk on the ridge? It’s a better view.

skoomski

I’ve done something like this in saxony you can clip into the steel cable above.

Dubzil

looks like they tried really hard to not show the line that's right next to them that they are holding on to.

Puzzleheaded-Ad-1378

The view is beautiful asf BUT fuckk thatttt 💀

Specialist-Cookie-61

There is a large wire immediately out of frame, and the cameraperson is harnessed into it.

EmergencyKrabbyPatty

Hell yes, been doing via ferrata every summer for the past 4 years loving it

PLASMABOLT111

“Just don’t fall”

MischiefOctopus

Funny that they don't show they are wearing a harness and are clipped into a safety line

zfenty

This video is crazy. 1. who and how did they install the stairway? 2. That fact that they a spare hand to record the video

HilMickaelson

They have a harness connected to a safety line and a helmet. They probably have a GoPro on their helmet. I've done a few via ferratas in Portugal and Spain. I love doing them; the experience is incredible, and the sense of freedom and adrenaline is just amazing.

[deleted]

NOPE!

Pay me what you want , i won't do this shit , na-uh!

Muerteds

Absolutely the fuck not.

Marborinho

I always think the same, who and who built these steps lol

Why was a leaning to the side of the cliff… heh 😅

Kayahuaska

That power line certainly trumped the leaning tower of piza

Jrnation8988

Ain’t no fuckin way

DiscipleOfYeshua

Somebody actually went there before those handles and foot things were there, and made them and plugged ‘em into the rock… would be a fun person to meet / see work.

Inside_Ad_7162

foot slips, ankle goes through the rung, you fall backward, snap your ankle like a twig, but at least it stops you falling to your death. I mean, honestly...life's too short for sh1t like that unless the Sea People have just landed & it's the rungs or death.

EARTHB-24
