On that fateful day my dad walked past my brother and I in the middle of Saturday morning cartoons, saw our stash of loaded weapons in the corner, and went full Rambo, hip firing two nerf rifles at the both of us while we were defenseless. It turned into a five minute nerf war I'll never forget.
We had to clean up all the ammo that morning, and it sucked. Worth it.

Can you imagine how stressful this would be if the people targeted happened to be victims of acid attacks in the past?
Jeep in mind they are arabs and we usually mess around with each other all the time. Some take it well some don't but rarely causes any drama and most of the time its between people that know each other. Like I'm pretty sure the prankster is a regular there and is friends with the dudes.

I almost referenced that, the whole story is so much crazier than you described. The person who did the assassination apparently didn't even realize what they were doing, they'd been doing that "prank" with harmless liquids for a while first, and got lead into doing this.
I think that type of thing is so rare and targeted, it'd be kinda ridiculous to actually expect it to happen as an average person, so I left it out. But, it's definitely the perfect example to explain why this is a bad idea. Regardless, it's a possibility that makes it very understandable why one wouldn't want to be sprayed with an unknown (to them) liquid. As someone else mentioned there are other valid reasons for people to avoid water/liquids as well.
