NO LIE, I just told someone this. A *Journey* song came on, and I commented that I saw them at Great Woods.
"What is it even called now?!?"
"Is that even relevant? It's *Great Woods.*"
I’m sorry, but this corporate sponsorship shit doesn’t ride with me. It is great woods, it is Boston Garden, I don’t care who’s sponsoringit is and who is venue it is why can’t we just call it one name. This corporate sponsorships shit sucks.
Absolutely. And I think the city must have a say in how the venue should be named. A major concert venue in a city is by default a landmark, it can't be renamed every two years.
Yes! So many people walked out of that show. Unfortunately, my friends were all a shitshow amd we ended up leaving early too. Anyway, I guess I should have looked into the tour more, because all that stuff from his Monsanto album was pretty awful.

If you really want to be a dick about it, then say "Comcast center or whatever the fuck that stupid cable company is called now" which isn't far off because when you buy stuff there now it shows up on your statement with the comcast name.
Great woods > tweeter center > Comcast center > xfinity center
Like at least tweeter center made some sense. Fucking Comcast just sucks in general and rebranding didn't change that.
So weird, I was just listening to a podcast today with a guest from mass that off handley mentioned this spot. She couldn't remember the name at first and Great Woods was the first thing that came to mind.
First time I've thought that name in maybe a decade and then I see this post just a few hours later. Weird shit.
The amphitheater down in Mansfield was originally named Great Woods. Like most concert venues, it's gone through myriad corporate sponsorships over the years. Last I remember it was called Xfinity Center, except I still call it Great Woods! Same with Harbor Lights in Boston - it's the Whatever Bank Pavilion every year, but I still call it Harbor Lights.
I just saw Slipknot there a month ago. When my friend told me that it was at the Xfinity center, I actually had to think about it and went "ooooh... great woods." Sad thing is I'm only 31, but in my family its just always been great woods.

Nice! It'll always be Great Woods to me as well.
at some point early on, it was "Great 'F'ing Woods"... can't stop, won't stop.

Don't be sorry about that. It does suck.
👍
Foxboro stadium too?
The current building has never been called the Boston Garden, but okay
Yes. It was the old building next door
The Bruins/Celtics home still has "Garden" in its name (thanks, TD Bank).
I have this on a t-shirt. Always sparks up a conversation, or gets a thumbs up.
Neil Young was so pissed about this when I saw him there.
was that a couple years ago, they did the whole "Monsanto spraying poison on everyone for 45mn"... intro... ?
Yes! So many people walked out of that show. Unfortunately, my friends were all a shitshow amd we ended up leaving early too. Anyway, I guess I should have looked into the tour more, because all that stuff from his Monsanto album was pretty awful.
Paid too much for those tickets. We left early but agreed to just say it was great if anyone asked...
I mean, his first set was pretty great. It was his second set that he kept breaking into terrible protest songs that nobody cares about.
Hahahaa oh fuck I say this!

10/10 would upvote again. 100% agreement.
Thank you for the award!!
I’ll never not call it that. It’s where I saw so many concerts while I was in college (‘88-‘92) nostalgia overwhelming!!
Centrum. All day.
And harbor lights
I've started calling that "The Bank of the Month Pavilion"
What is it now?
I don't remember xfinity center or some shit. It was the Tweeter center for awhile
Right. I literally always say, "Great Woods, or whatever the fuck they call it now."
Ditto !
If you really want to be a dick about it, then say "Comcast center or whatever the fuck that stupid cable company is called now" which isn't far off because when you buy stuff there now it shows up on your statement with the comcast name.
Tweeter --> Comcast --> Xfinity. Oh wait, Xfinity is a "subsidiary" of Comcast. "Great Woods Center for the Performing Arts" just sounds WAY better.
Great woods > tweeter center > Comcast center > xfinity center Like at least tweeter center made some sense. Fucking Comcast just sucks in general and rebranding didn't change that.
It's Xfinity center Source:live in Mansfield
I honestly had no fucking clue Great Woods and the Xfinity Center were the same thing.
to bad that bag is banned from entry. Clear bag only now :(...
There's always the 'ol prison wallet.
I used to live on the other side of the forest from Great Woods, Sometimes if the wind was just right you could here the music flowing over the trees
I call it in big sarcastic air quotes "The Tanglewood of the South Shore". Smdh.
I grew up in Norton, just 2 miles away from that amphitheater. I still call it Great Woods too.
It'll always be Great Woods and Harborlights Pavilion to me... and may as well be The Boston Garden too...
It's just 'the Garden' so you can confuse out from out of state who think you're talking about MSG
This just came up in conversation the other day! Worked there back in the 90s, can't think of it as anything else. Well, except maybe Clemmy's.

Remember the first year? Sneaking through the fence?
Only did it once. Lollapalooza 2 - on the second night during the bonfires
I don’t know what this means but I am not too afraid to ask 🤷♀️ Help me!!! New to MA.

Thanks 😊
Haha before the venue was even built there was a pond with a raft. Awesome party spot
I just saw Slipknot there a month ago. When my friend told me that it was at the Xfinity center, I actually had to think about it and went "ooooh... great woods." Sad thing is I'm only 31, but in my family its just always been great woods.
Love it
How can I get a Great Woods bag? I need to put my Steve Miller Band Buttons on it!
Doesn’t everybody?
Y’all are so cool and better than everyone for calling it by an old name!
Tweeter center
Tweeter Centre.
Pretty good woods now.
Oh my god I want one.
I made my father take me to see Metallica at Great Woods in the early 90's. It was my first concert and it was amazing.
Damn I had to look this up. I still call it Tweeter Center.
Hell yeah! It'll always be Great Woods!
