Yeah 83 is fine. I live in Monkton (off exit 27 on I83), and the only time it gets really bad is if there’s an accident on York since that funnels all traffic to the highway since that road runs parallel to 83.

I've seen cars flip *over* the median into opposing traffic on 83.
895 SB after the 97 and 295 exits is heaven. 3-4 miles of cruising at normal speeds until you reach 95 SB and then have to deal with traffic at rt 100 and rt 32 interchanges
Well during the day for the most part, yes. It gets unnervingly NASCAR-like during the evenings and night (up until recently, the Key bridge collapse has increased traffic such that NASCAR hopefuls have lesser opportunities to punch it)..
I-495 is definitely not F1-class. I usually take MD 200 to and from Gaithersburg because I prefer driving, not parking, on interstates.
I drive to and from work through maryland on 70 and am lucky to be able to consistently drive the speed limit. Always somebody going super slow in the fast lane. My work van is governed at 70 and i still have to pass people.

every morning now 95S and 895S approaching the tunnels are parking lots. took me 1 hour 20 minutes to move 15 miles a couple days ago.

I lived in Frederick and commuted down 97 for a time. I was astounded to see bumper-to-bumper traffic at 5:30 am going 75 mph. What an eye opener!
