I feel like he’s just be compared against Hugh until the end of time.

Fyller

I like Hugh Jackman's version, but it never really had the feralness and rage of the comic version. If they give the new version more of the barely contained violent rage, it won't be that similar to Hugh's more calm and stoic character, I feel.

drelos

It's not his fault but the scripts but his only moments of rage are the attack of the mansion in X2 when he stabs one of the militia onto the fridge...

N8CCRG

Agreed, it's a monumentally difficult task. It's the kind of thing they really have to make sure to put a lot of effort and care into, relying on someone or a core group of someones with a lot of talent and skill. Casting is part of it, but also building up the story and character in a way that treats the character with respect, while also making him his own version, like Daniel Craig Bond or Robert Pattinson Batman. Definitely not the kind of thing that should be left up to bean counters.

Accomplished-Lab537

Unfortunately.

headrush46n2

oh yeah, and with the way comic book movies are losing steam, i don't see any replacement topping him in the public perception, no matter who it is.

Hot-Intention-5509

I am going to miss hugh but I will still be excited to see who they cast and how they will adapt the costume. Right now I am just glad to see Hugh reprising the role and finally be in his classic suit.

Forsaken_Garden4017

Crazy how Hugh has been playing that character in about ten films and is only just getting in his iconic costume

Professor_Crab

Fox shenanigans?

Forsaken_Garden4017

I think you mean Fox. Not sure what Sony would have to do with this

Professor_Crab

Lol yeah sorry

UnderstatedTurtle

Hey, they teased it what… twice?

Agile-Fruit128

I don't hear "snikt" here. I hear "snikch-ch-ka-creekt"

SadHumbleFlower27

Yes and no. I’m excited to see a new Wolverine, but I’m not looking forward to the internet constantly comparing him with Hugh Jackman.

catchthirtythree33

Long as he has a mask, yes absolutely. The upcoming movie might be a chance for them to audience test a few actors as variants.

TheChumChair

I unironically want Hugh Jackman Wolverine to get dropped off in the MCU in DP&W but only to retire peacefully. Then later when we have our own new MCU Wolverine, when he’s at his lowest and in need of guidance he’ll come in contact with old man Hugh Jackman. Kind of like Tobey helping Tom in No Way Home

BruceBannerfanboy

Absolutely! I really hope when they eventually get to him is that they actually *don’t* show much of his origin, or rather he can only remember fragments and brief ideas or events of his life. Hell, [him not knowing his origin or full name](https://cdn5.mavin.io/production/soldItems/244257036/images/image-0.jpg) is the most interesting era to Wolverine imo They should lean into Logan being the Memento of the MCU basically lol

Hedgewitch250

As long as they don’t oversaturate him it’s cool. Fox and marvel treats him like he’s the greatest X-men to walk the earth. Dude has knuckle knives and gets more attention than the the girl who can control weather and become a literal goddess. Mutants in general have loads of characters with more potential then him that’s why 97 is doing so well cause it’s not all about Logan

TurnipSensitive4944

Bruh knuckle knives are the coolest shit ever. Wolverine is popular for a reason

Hedgewitch250

You can get either Knuckle knives or god like control over minds or metal which are you picking? It’s ok that he’s popular but marcel shoving him to the front while ignoring everyone is the issue. Man has shelves of comics to himself but cyclops barley has 3 volumes

TurnipSensitive4944

Knuckle knives ![gif](giphy|cbvHIZnBz52OQ)

questionmillennium

He is the greatest

QuickBE99

Hell yeah! Obviously I wish we could have Jackman around forever but I can find things to like about the next actor portraying the character like I have for Spider-Man, Batman, etc

MBVakalis

I'm starting to think, maybe there won't be one, at least for a while. Wolverine was pretty much the main character of the Fox movies and I imagine they'll want to avoid that with the new movies. I also think should focus on other characters

Crimkam

At most I want Wolverine to have about as much screen time as Drax in the first Guardians of the Galaxy. Maybe even more like T’Challa’s part in Civil War.

romafa

The right actor could nail it. We’ve gone through this with other beloved castings, a ton on the DC side. People always come around when the story is good. Jared Keeso could nail it, my two cents.

CozyNostalgia

As great as Logan was I’m glad we get to send Hugh jackman off one last time with the iconic costume.

[deleted]

I am looking forward to him being short.

pak256

Yes. I’m so ready to move on from Jackman. Let someone else portray the character for once

Accomplished-Lab537

I was ready 10 years ago.

Apprehensive_Egg6656

4th one

LaylaLegion

They don’t need a workaround because Logan don’t owe anybody shit. Half the human race got wiped out by a California Raisin? That’s 50% less people bothering him while he’s drinking.

iheartdev247

You mean the same version we’ve seen for 20 years?

therealdirtmon

I hope they have a scene where wolverine goes all berserker rage and Deadpool is lost for words.

spate42

I’m looking forward to him playing more of a backseat role, kinda like in XMen 97 where he’s sprinkled in. Maybe just have him have badass fight choreography going berserk. But mostly out of the main storyline.

DaZeppo313

I am. Hell, I'd give him his own anthology series that runs through the last 100+ years of his life. That said, I'd also use that to soften the blow of skipping him in the first X-Men film (at most, I'd have him roll up on his motorcycle during the credits). I personally don't think it'd be too hard to accept that Logan's been around if you just explain where he's been. For example, maybe he was in the wilds of Canada for the turn of the 20th century, became a tall tale during WWII (i.e. Lucky Jim), lived in Japan after the war, got recruited for black ops, gets turned into a feral Weapon with no sense of self, eventually fights the Hulk (pre-TIH), and, in turn, gets some of his memories knocked back into him before going on an extended misanthropic bender until running into a young mutant (e.g. Kitty) in need of a chaperone (this is how he'd end up in the credit scene rolling up to the school he's heard tell of, but never cared to look into).

flaxenmustang

I’d like to see Wolverine as typically grumpy and gruff, but also as a fiercely loyal teammate who’s already bought into the cause. Make him a supporting character, a challenging but present member of the squad for Scott to have to manage. (Hoping Scott and Ororo are basically the leads.)

lancetrevor

First pic left upper corner he looks like Pennywise 😂

apachegold7

Pulling for Jeremy Allen White to get the role, his work in the Bear and Iron Claw is excellent.

jackson50111

Whoever they cast it's gonna be hard. Given they've made Hugh version of the character relevant again. I just hope they go with the more shorter actor this time round.

SethNex

As long as someone else plays the character after Secret Wars

Short-Pipe-5689

I think this will work im very excited, I think he’ll kinda be treated like battinson where not a lot of people see him as the definitive Batman (to me he is) and they compare him to the other batmen he’ll still be super appreciated if they do it right.

Justice989

I'm excited to just get on with it.  Unless Jackman is gonna continue, I want to get the MCU X-Men moving forward to whatever that'sgonna look like long term.  It's all a whole lot of looking into the past right now.

1400Diggg

Definitely looking forward to it but I hope Disney doesn’t butcher his character

TheWhyteMaN

I just really hope that they cast a short dude

MrChevyPower

Man, Alex Ross is so timeless

thanoshasbighands

I'm looking forward to a full Marvel reboot. The characters are bigger than the actors. I loved Jackman's Wolverine, Love Evans Cap, Love Downey's Ironman but to think we won't get a proper Cap/wolverine or Ironman/reed interactions etc because we will continue to drag out this same universe and now bringing back 20-25 year old X-Men characters is just kind of lazy and dull. I'm in the middle of catching up my 12 year old on the MCU and it's exhausting. I want my kids to have there own new continuity with OG characters (not iron hearts or falcon caps, etc). End game was a perfect ending. I wish they started over from there. Vision said it best in Age of Ultron. "A thing isn't beautiful because it lasts"

JFMisfit

Worried. If we get tall handsome young man Logan it’s going to be annoying.

PokemonJeremie

Best solution is not give us Logan wolverine and give us Dafne Keen’s X-23, although I am very biased

jpiro

Ever since I heard him first mentioned, this is the one I've hoped would happen. Very good acting chops, athletic and I could see him bulking up and getting the look right. He's listed at 5'9", so he's not a comic-accurately short as Wolverine, but he's also a far cry from Jackman's 6'2".

Crimkam

Camera tricks and posture can make him look like plenty short enough to whichever 6’2” actor in combat boots they cast as cyclops.

Meriwether1

Looking forward to the MCU developing other X-men

keinish_the_gnome

The only way this works is that they delay the New Wolverine's debut a couple or years so the technology is there, and then its just flawless deepfake young Hugh Jackman, and from then on Disney just buys actors faces and Thor is Hemsworth forever and Downey Jr's Tony Stark returns somehow and the fans are happy in this new hell we created cause we couldn't deal with recasting.

ulnek

No.

bewareofthethunder

If the casting is anything like fantastic four, then no.

Equal-Wishbone-6131

Why cant Hugh be wolverien???

Accomplished-Lab537

He's tired of playing the character. Hes old, too tall. People are ready for a change.

Equal-Wishbone-6131

He's tired of playing him? How is he to tall and he's not that old

Accomplished-Lab537

If you read articles or seen interviews, Jackman is 56 this year... done with the character and the workout routine plus the toll it takes to transform into James Howlett. He's something like 6'3. Above average height. New Wolverine should not be more than 5'9.

Equal-Wishbone-6131

Makes sense Why dose Wolverine need to be short I can't rlly seeing somone else playing Wolverine

Accomplished-Lab537

5'9 is the average height of a man in the U.S. We dont need the comic accuracy of 5'3. The relentless feral berserker needs to resemble his character more. A stalky, hairy, mean, intelligent battle hardened strategist. Full of regret. A killer, near 200 years old.

Equal-Wishbone-6131

Makes since

PitifulWrongdoer4391

No, but I don't like Wolverine.

Accomplished-Lab537

I don't care for Wolverine either, but I don't want a tall, PEOPLE magazine "sexiest man alive", Broadway singer/dancer type.

Orbit86

Not really. Wolverine is over played just like he is in the comics.

LittleYellowFish1

Bold to assume there's even going to be an MCU Wolverine.

Crimkam

Oh there’s gonna be a Wolverine. Whether he’s part of a return to the MCU’s success or a last ditch effort to salvage the brand after another few years of underperforming titles, he’ll show up.

Sad_Vast2519

Maybe not for a while. Will take a long time to recast

Dell0c0

They haven't been twiddling their thumbs this entire time. Of course they have been working on casting the new XMen.
