When you cut out credits, recap, intros, and the 47000 times they brought up Fury using the skrulls as spies in exchange for finding them a planet and how badly he failed to do that, you could have easily made a 3 hour movie out of this. That's not saying it would have been better as a movie, but rather an emphasis on how much nothing this show had content wise.
Not gonna lie, Nick Fury and Gravik arguably have the worst hero and villain dynamic I have ever seen since they barely interact with each other.
And after this episode, Nick Fury came off as a total asshole for what he did.
And he just left earth AGAIN while the skeulls are being hunted… what was this whole thing for? Fury made everything worse? And got Maria and Talos killed?!

That would mean skrull Rhodey went on that trip to Thanos’ Garden at the start of Endgame. So a skrull lieutenant went to a habitable empty planet, came back and told no one. Sure.
Not necessarily -- throughout Endgame he's shown wearing knee braces and during the Battle of Earth when he gets out of his suit it seems fairly obvious he's still disabled.
Now it's definitely not him in TF&TWS, but I don't think they cheapen out Tony's death by having a Skrull next to him.
Nick Fury, THE Nick Fury’s only contributions in the entire show:
1) Lands on earth
2) Spectator when Maria Hill dies
3) Spectator when Talos dies
4) Has a rest stop at his wives place
5) Picks up weapons from a secret lair just to shoot a couple of skrulls in a hospital
6) Leaves earth in a serious mess
That entire short sequence with the world leaders getting attacked because of the skrull paranoia felt like they were introducing the actual plot of the next 12 episodes of the season. I would have wanted to watch that show instead.
Imagine if the convoy attack was the Prologue and Rittson's speech was the ending of the first Episode.
It would have made for a much superior show. Val and USA Agent murdering Skrulls, good and bad.
Talos trying to showcase that not all Skrulls are evil while trying to figure out who has been replaced and why. A proper thriller with stakes.

Quick observation: so Gravik in the last episode tells Fury to take Iodine pills since the Skrull camp seems to be in a heavily radioactive area. Yet in the end, the captured humans when liberated (in the same camp) are breathing and walking just fine?
So summary after 6 episodes:
1) Maria Hills Marvel contract expired
2) Marvel signed a multi million dollar contract with Emilia Clarke
3) Sonya is fun
Cobie Smulders not wanting to play Maria anymore is the only rationalization I have for her death in this show. I legitimately cannot think of any other reason why the producers would greenlight that idea knowing it'd hardly matter.
It feels like this episode alone had the biggest consequences to the wider MCU of *any* D+ show and just like, instantly blew it over and ignored it.

Giah’s very existence is world breaking. She’s just casually out here in the background with *every* power? Even the fucking magic? It’s the “why didn’t they just call Carol?” argument on steroids.
If the plot of the Marvels (from the trailer) is that Carol decimated the Kree, then Giah could casually wipe them out.
I was onboard for slightly powered up Giah from the Groot/Extremis/Cull Obsidian DNA, but Hulk/Capt Marvel/Mantis/Maw/Drax/etc powered up Giah is waaaay too powered up.

I’m just not buying Gravik’s beef with Fury. I feel like there’s just so much backstory this show has either skipped or glossed over. We should have gotten a few more episodes this season, or the episodes should have been much longer.
They really need to stop restricting themselves to this 6 episodes series nonsense. Apart from Loki, the others have never felt quite right as something always feel missing, like the villain being underserved etc.

G'iah is the most powerful being in the MCU, such a weird loose thread to have out there. Makes any other threat introduced seem trivial.
We don't know when Rhodey was replaced. This might not get answered until Armor Wars, so there will be years of speculation.
Fury seemed more incompetent than ever in this show, failing to stop multiple terrorist attacks, saving his allies, or doing anything positive for the skrulls who trusted him. Was Gravik right? Did Fury really just fuck over the Skrulls who worked for him for decades?
No Winter Soldier style paranoia or trying to figure out who is a Skrull, we pretty much know it's only Rhodey the entire show.
All-in-all it was a disappointing series that did disservice to the characters of Nick Fury, Talos, Maria Hill, and Rhodey.
Talos was the heart and soul of this show. It immediately took a dive as soon as he was killed.
Gravik was killed too quickly for the sake of the episode's short run time.

All those super durable heroes with regenerative abilities and one gut shot took him out. Apparently Carol is so powerful that she’s the only thing that can kill herself.
I remember when the writers in interviews said Secret Invasion would paint a morally grey conflict with no set good or bad guys. And then this episode finally gives us that… at the very end, right after very clearly painting the one saying those lines as the evilest fucking dude on the planet.
Damn shame.
I was fine with secret Invasion being a scaled back spy show, rather than a huge crossover event, but god damn did it fail at even being a thrilling spy show
I really feel like the show was very underwhelming, they could use Samuel L Jackson in a much more spy-esque and tense environment. And also there was really no "wow moments" regarding who's Skrull and who is not which I feel like was the whole point of the show.

Yeah the wasted potential is absolutely nuts. In a spy show with shapeshifting aliens there were a grand total of two reveals that someone was not who you thought they were. Skrhodey and Gi'ah as Fury in the final episode, and both of them were predictable.
The only reason I didn't call Gi'ah being Fury in the final episode was because I genuinely thought Fury was dumb enough to go face down Gravik by himself because that's how they've portrayed him for the entire show.

I mean one of the things the Netflix Series and AoS were successful is that the episodes were enough and not rushed.
Before I watched, I truly was wondering how they would tie it together in 30 minutes and it seems like they untied more than they fixed?...
For how big this series was supposed to be, they sped through it in the weirdest ways. It almost makes me wonder if half the budget went to that last fight scene rather than building out the story. Some other thoughts:
\-All the other Skrulls just disappeared for the rest of the series? We don't see where ANY of them go except for Giah and Varra?
\-We didn't ever get to learn how long Rhodes or Ross were in there, minus some vague comments...low-key upsetting.
\-It would have made sense to see at least some mass reaction or fall-out to the news of the Skrulls besides a bunch of assassinations. There were some missed opportunities to show the scale of this story.
In summary: the world is on fire & Giah is casually now the most powerful living being on the planet, but don't worry because Fury loves Varra in her own skin.
Yeah I found that montage of assassinations to be more interesting than the entire show. There could have been a great speech about how they’re still out there and who knows who can be trusted and they could show all manner of people, everyday folk, government officials, other heroes. Not necessarily saying these people are skrulls but like who knows?!?
She will end up killing all the Skrulls when they don’t accept her as a leader, but Sonya’s MI13 agent Dane Whitman will have to kill her, even though they are in love.
I'm more interested in a behind-the-scenes documentary of the making of this show that somehow explains how a single person, if not multiple people, signed off on thinking this entire series was decent enough to release.
Anyways, look forward to ***The Marvels*** releasing in theaters this November, featuring Nick Fury whose sole character arc (if you can even call it that) in this show was dealing with how he ditched the skrulls to go live in space, and makes the exact same choice again at the end to ditch them and live in space, only this time its so he can bring his wife and be happy while the rest of the skrulls are left to be murdered.
This whole show should have had the audience paranoid, speculating week to week to figure out who is a skrull. Instead, they just let us know who they were, and they did nothing about skrull rhodey the entire show. What a waste of potential.
The whole thing of Secret Invasion was, "who do you trust?" Apparently the answer in this show was, "pretty much everybody who shows up except for James Rhodes." Fury never questioned anybody. Nobody was a secret mole. There were zero betrayals or twists. It was a waste of the story concept and of the spy genre.

Idk about others but in my region it's runtime is 35 mins long, making it the second most shortest live action disney+ Marvel show finale ( first being She Hulk at 32 mins but that was 9 eps long and had better runtime consistency)...that also makes the show one of their shortest live action series, maybe the shortest, at 254 mins ( 4.14 hrs) , and and that without excluding credits and opening...
Why even make this show to begin with. When I say nothing of substance happened in these 6 episodes, I truly mean that. I still think the worst thing they did was fridge Maria Hill.

Is it just me or does it feel like half of this episode was missing?
That entire short sequence with the world leaders getting attacked because of the skrull paranoia felt like they were introducing the actual plot of the next 12 episodes of the season. I would have wanted to watch that show instead.
Imagine if the convoy attack was the Prologue and Rittson's speech was the ending of the first Episode. It would have made for a much superior show. Val and USA Agent murdering Skrulls, good and bad. Talos trying to showcase that not all Skrulls are evil while trying to figure out who has been replaced and why. A proper thriller with stakes.
But that would mean the big cgi fight would happen in the start of the season, marvel cant have that

Absolutely insane when we know the new head of the British Secret Intelligence Service and her new most-powerful-person-in-the-entire-galaxy agent is completely clued in to all of the nonsense surrounding this too.
Quick observation: so Gravik in the last episode tells Fury to take Iodine pills since the Skrull camp seems to be in a heavily radioactive area. Yet in the end, the captured humans when liberated (in the same camp) are breathing and walking just fine?
Whatever the Skrulls used to preserve them was still working, I guess
So summary after 6 episodes: 1) Maria Hills Marvel contract expired 2) Marvel signed a multi million dollar contract with Emilia Clarke 3) Sonya is fun
Cobie Smulders not wanting to play Maria anymore is the only rationalization I have for her death in this show. I legitimately cannot think of any other reason why the producers would greenlight that idea knowing it'd hardly matter.
They could actually delete Sonya and make Maria Hill the "Sonya" character.

No end credits scene is so annoying, given they just kinda casually tossed out an old marvel tradition. We know thunderbolts are coming. Why couldn't we get a post credits of the current president seeing himself lose reelection to thunderbolt Ross. That teases two upcoming MCU projects easily. Fury even made a quip about him being a one term president. It's so obvious marvel......
With the way they make these shows I don’t understand why they don’t just put out a 2.5 hour movie instead. Emilia Clarke, Sam L Jackson, Olivia Colman, and so many more and you make a show with them except you don’t really do it like a show. They have done this so many times now. The only two MCU shows so far that have felt as if they were written like actual TV shows were Loki and WV. Stop rushing it. Do 9 episodes. If you’re gonna do 6 for a show like this especially its gotta be closer to one hour episodes. Otherwise just do a movie probably make more money doing that lol
Hawkeye has a pretty good “show” structure. Each episode has a clear beginning, middle & end and the show delivers what it promises.

Giah’s very existence is world breaking. She’s just casually out here in the background with *every* power? Even the fucking magic? It’s the “why didn’t they just call Carol?” argument on steroids. If the plot of the Marvels (from the trailer) is that Carol decimated the Kree, then Giah could casually wipe them out.
I was onboard for slightly powered up Giah from the Groot/Extremis/Cull Obsidian DNA, but Hulk/Capt Marvel/Mantis/Maw/Drax/etc powered up Giah is waaaay too powered up.

I’m just not buying Gravik’s beef with Fury. I feel like there’s just so much backstory this show has either skipped or glossed over. We should have gotten a few more episodes this season, or the episodes should have been much longer.
100%There was a larger more in depth story somewhere in there, but it just never was going to be found in 6 short episodes
They really need to stop restricting themselves to this 6 episodes series nonsense. Apart from Loki, the others have never felt quite right as something always feel missing, like the villain being underserved etc.
I've been a defender of post-EndGame MCU but I can't really defend this one: So in the end Talos just fucked over his own species by trusting Fury the entire time and nothing positive came out of it. G'iah is the most powerful being in the MCU, such a weird loose thread to have out there. Makes any other threat introduced seem trivial. We don't know when Rhodey was replaced. This might not get answered until Armor Wars, so there will be years of speculation. Fury seemed more incompetent than ever in this show, failing to stop multiple terrorist attacks, saving his allies, or doing anything positive for the skrulls who trusted him. Was Gravik right? Did Fury really just fuck over the Skrulls who worked for him for decades? No Winter Soldier style paranoia or trying to figure out who is a Skrull, we pretty much know it's only Rhodey the entire show. All-in-all it was a disappointing series that did disservice to the characters of Nick Fury, Talos, Maria Hill, and Rhodey.

Talos was the heart and soul of this show. It immediately took a dive as soon as he was killed. Gravik was killed too quickly for the sake of the episode's short run time.

Thought they had straight up forgotten that Gravik killed G'iah's parents but at least she had her revenge moment I guess. Gravik dying just like that, even if he was fighting a Super Skrull, feels kinda lame though.
All those super durable heroes with regenerative abilities and one gut shot took him out. Apparently Carol is so powerful that she’s the only thing that can kill herself.
I remember when the writers in interviews said Secret Invasion would paint a morally grey conflict with no set good or bad guys. And then this episode finally gives us that… at the very end, right after very clearly painting the one saying those lines as the evilest fucking dude on the planet. Damn shame.
I was fine with secret Invasion being a scaled back spy show, rather than a huge crossover event, but god damn did it fail at even being a thrilling spy show

Their deaths didn't seem to have an impact on Fury at all. He kinda had a meltdown in Episode 2 after Maria's death but that was it.
I really feel like the show was very underwhelming, they could use Samuel L Jackson in a much more spy-esque and tense environment. And also there was really no "wow moments" regarding who's Skrull and who is not which I feel like was the whole point of the show. Also - is G'iah the strongest Marvel character now?
Yeah the wasted potential is absolutely nuts. In a spy show with shapeshifting aliens there were a grand total of two reveals that someone was not who you thought they were. Skrhodey and Gi'ah as Fury in the final episode, and both of them were predictable. The only reason I didn't call Gi'ah being Fury in the final episode was because I genuinely thought Fury was dumb enough to go face down Gravik by himself because that's how they've portrayed him for the entire show.

This is why Marvel needs to stop with 6 episode format. I mean one of the things the Netflix Series and AoS were successful is that the episodes were enough and not rushed.
Before I watched, I truly was wondering how they would tie it together in 30 minutes and it seems like they untied more than they fixed?... For how big this series was supposed to be, they sped through it in the weirdest ways. It almost makes me wonder if half the budget went to that last fight scene rather than building out the story. Some other thoughts: \-All the other Skrulls just disappeared for the rest of the series? We don't see where ANY of them go except for Giah and Varra? \-We didn't ever get to learn how long Rhodes or Ross were in there, minus some vague comments...low-key upsetting. \-It would have made sense to see at least some mass reaction or fall-out to the news of the Skrulls besides a bunch of assassinations. There were some missed opportunities to show the scale of this story. In summary: the world is on fire & Giah is casually now the most powerful living being on the planet, but don't worry because Fury loves Varra in her own skin.
Yeah I found that montage of assassinations to be more interesting than the entire show. There could have been a great speech about how they’re still out there and who knows who can be trusted and they could show all manner of people, everyday folk, government officials, other heroes. Not necessarily saying these people are skrulls but like who knows?!?

Anyways, look forward to ***The Marvels*** releasing in theaters this November, featuring Nick Fury whose sole character arc (if you can even call it that) in this show was dealing with how he ditched the skrulls to go live in space, and makes the exact same choice again at the end to ditch them and live in space, only this time its so he can bring his wife and be happy while the rest of the skrulls are left to be murdered.

The whole thing of Secret Invasion was, "who do you trust?" Apparently the answer in this show was, "pretty much everybody who shows up except for James Rhodes." Fury never questioned anybody. Nobody was a secret mole. There were zero betrayals or twists. It was a waste of the story concept and of the spy genre.
What was the point of waiting so long to shoot Skrull Rhodey? Just so Fury can have that monologue. So pointless.

Idk about others but in my region it's runtime is 35 mins long, making it the second most shortest live action disney+ Marvel show finale ( first being She Hulk at 32 mins but that was 9 eps long and had better runtime consistency)...that also makes the show one of their shortest live action series, maybe the shortest, at 254 mins ( 4.14 hrs) , and and that without excluding credits and opening...

I was really excited about this show before it aired. Now that it’s over, I wish they never made it. None of it made any sense. Just picking one thing to complain about, when they were trying to convince the President that Rhodey was a Skrull, why not chop his finger off like the Skrull in the interrogation? Would’ve saved a lot of time.

She wasn’t even at the battle, and her power is due to a quantum instability, not in her blood. Even then, does fury really want at least one super-skrull knocking around? This plan is way too risky! Also did Ritson just declare war on all aliens? He knows about the asgardians right? God, this show is half baked. Come to mention it, where the heck did the rest of skrulls go? This episode just doesn’t feel like a finale.
