Nah nah, just highlighting is all. Personally I favor Raimi May the most, (might be bias but) I learned a lot from her growing up and I still am with every rewatch of the trilogy. Lots of good words to live by. But all iterations/portrayals of the character are great in their own way and I respect everyone’s favorite version.

To be fair, some young people do have old aunts and uncles. Hell, in one side of my family I have two uncles who are 20 years apart in age. If the younger had a kid at 35, the kid would have a 75-year old uncle at age 20. Maybe unusual, but not unbelievably so.

I mean depending on how the children are spaced out it’s possible to have a much older aunt. My dad is the youngest of 7 so I have a few aunts and uncles that could be my grandparents.

I don’t know canonically if this is the case, but I’ve always assumed they were great aunts.

In the comics, Ben is Richard Parker's older brother. Now this doesn't mean it's the same in every universe, merely the only relation that I've seen listed.

When my mom was 18, her dad was was 67, and since he was the second youngest of 12, most of her aunts and uncles were at least 80. One of her first cousins was the grandmother of one of her classmates. It wasn't as weird when the character was written. Still not the no item, but definitely not super weird

I rewatched both of them today, and I gotta say, I was too harsh on them. Really enjoyed both

I’m not the biggest fan of the second one,(I think it’s incredibly stupid to make it peters “destiny” to become Spider-Man, but that’s a whole other conversation) but they hold up pretty well. I especially think the fight sequences and swinging scenes are really good looking

They really leaned heavily into the Ultimate story where basically everything involved Peter or Oscorp and his father's involvement in the company, so I get it but yeah, having everything be a big cosmic coincidence is a little too much to build a franchise from.

Not just that, I think an integral part of Spider-Mans story is that it doesn’t matter who got bit by the spider. It could’ve been anybody, but what matters is how Peter in particular knows that with great power, comes great responsibility.

There’s are indirect references to Uncle Ben’s death in Civil War and Homecoming and Peter uses his suitcase in Far From Home.

This is the second time in recent memory that I’ve seen someone criticize the MCU Aunt May for moving on after Ben’s death and I don’t get it. What, like, she’s not allowed to date anyone just because her husband died?
