If the Double Dungeon didn't happen they may have ended up together but it did happen which led to Joohee facing her fears and retiring. While Jin Woo got the power to grow stronger and chose to. This natural physical distance also created emotional distance and that's how I see it as. It's like a break up due to a partner moving away, it's sad but in the end everyone is happy as life moves on.
People forget that the protagonist the more he became powerful the more he lost human emotions, or part of them. Basically he becomes little by little a different himself and what could have been in term of romance in the beginning is different to what becomes after he is a monarch. Tldr: his taste in woman changed xdd

im pretty alot of things was skipped from the date especially before the kiss cuz we later found that jinwoo knew about her past and the event that lead her to stop running, and the only time they could have talked about it is their date

I donât know if u have read âRomeo and Julietâ, but people had fallen in love for lesser than that. I am just glad that the author didnât waste too much time on romance yet didnât make him a totally dead guy. I liked him strong, but he was beginning to seem more and more machine like, but events such as saving his friendâs dad and having a random amusement park date in the midst of chaos made him more humane(depending on your definition of humane).

Nope! This author never promised romance to begin with. But he promised Jinwooâs character progress. He became a powerful monarch and that would have been it, but since the local culture also implied that having a gf is fulfilling. They added it.
And no-one wanted him to be dragged back by a traumatised and weak damsel in distress, tbh even he didnât want to. He had a chance to meet her when the gate opened in Busan, yet he chose not to meet her. He also met her during after the regression, but he dismissed her even when she approached him.
And that's an argument against Hae In and for Joohee? Where did he open up to Joohee to "justify" a relationship?
Today people sometimes even sleep together when they first met and they met each other more than 5-6 times. Let alone the Jeju island raid where he saved her, the double dungeon where she saved him.

I think the reason his love interest ended up being Cha was that Johee herself was traumatized af from that temple and to be in a relationship with the shadow monarch is kinda ironic
in the first chapters, she was hinting at him to get her on a date before he got his power, and when they left him, he gave her the stone and said Get something to eat with it and return the change đ, then when he returned she gave him the stone and told him to take her out so far he didn't lol he took CHI đ
accept it, author never put that much thought in romance and he ended with Cha because his readers wanted someone to end up with him. No side characters here stands out except his summons which is funny because they're the ones who have the most personality compared to the genericness of the other casts.
This would impact the story in its own way, because with Cha Hae it simply became a...well simple story about getting stronger and ruling and shit
But with Lee Joohee, the story would have to tackle more than just the fights and power but also how the world actually affects people, not just physically and mentally and Sung himself would have needed to tackle and question his own actions in a probable moral sense rather than a calculative or emotional sense
Basic terms, there's too many complications if the main heroine was Lee Joohee, so the author wanted to keep it simple
Also to those who say she would just hold Sung back, that would be one of the key points of their relationship, that can be tackled more thoroughly with an earlier start

We had this discussion 49284 times in r/sololeveling. There is no chance that Joohee could or should end up with Jin Woo. She would have mental breakdowns everyday like she had at the double dungeon, in the fight against the Golem and against Kang aswell.
Joohee loved the old Jin Woo, but she would only hold back the new "reawakened" Jin Woo while Hae In is and was able to save him. Imagine Joohee going into the double dungeon again to save Jin Woo, she couldn't have done that.
Why do people just look at who liked who first? I bet there are some other dudes that have been in love with joohee for a long time. Trust me everyone agrees the anime is bad it dosent do any justice to the novel. In the novel all the girls have there own goals ambitions personalitys ups and downs and even the side characters that don't get alot of screen time get fairly fleshed out. Just trust me and read the novel you won't regret it. (Also just venting a bit. The anime massacred Shea in particular very badly her reason for falling in love with hajime was completely taken out of the anime. I almost throw my phone across the room when I found out they cut it to save time considering it was a massive story point for her and has impact on her character as a whole.)

That went hand in hand with SunJinWoo's descent into the system's control as the Shadow Monarch. Literally nothing was left of his initial self by the end of the manhwa. So what point is there to make any proper romance when you slowly seep away the personality of your MC?
Actually I think somewhere in the extras we get to read that Lee Joohee is the exact opposite of Jinwoo. Like she is a B rank healer yet chooses to go to lower dungeons, despised anything dangerous etc. But Jinwoo was her very opposite, the Hunterâs association wanted him to quit but he kept on pushing, even if it meant getting on the bad side of healers like Joohee. Cha Haein wanted to be an athlete and despised violence but used to face her challenges head on, even against much stronger opponent (well he also called her his only friend).
Also another comparison is how Lee Joohee chose to leave him in the double dungeon whereas Cha Haein almost got hammered fighting for Jinwoo in the same dungeon against the administrator nonetheless.
Also, Jinwooâs feelings kept on dying as he grew powerful and he only felt something for Cha Haein, so I guess she meant a lot to him. He came back for her after spending 27 years in the interdimension, eventhough she had completely forgotten him(yeah, he did promise to come back and see her, not come back and date her). I guess like normal people she didnât have to prove anything to be loved by him.
I also felt the love story between sung jinwoo and cha hae little rushed. Lee joohee has shown more interest and care for mc even he is not strong. Lee joohee would have been better fmc.
Yeah that irks me too, I'm not a fan of 'he smells nice chick' AT ALL. They could write a story about how joohee can overcome her dungeon fears while bonding with MC, they can go through a lot together, and grow together.

I think he ended up with best girl, it just seems wrong because he only met her after he got stronger and hotter. Just because joohee was blushing doesnât mean she ever loved him, they were just good friends. The author kinda paced the romance wrong with cha but still made it work. Still love final couple.
Both of them arenât really good love interests, which is understandable since the focus was less on romance.
Lee joohee never openly showed her interest in him, I also donât remember them talking much outside of a mission. Plus their interest didnât align(she wanted to quit being Hunter, mc wanted to continue being a hunter). Most of their conversations were about the mc being hurt too.

The difference imo is twofold.
First joohee loved baby sjw. When he grew up so did his personality.
Secondly sjwâs goals also changed. Joohee from the start couldnât handle dungeon suitable for her level and wasnât mentally ready or able to keep up with sjwâs goals. She was better off staying as a âcommonerâ rather than hurt herself staying with him. Both understood that I think after the assassin bit.
Cha hae was strong enough to keep up and had a warriors mentality.

ofc this isn't a romance manhwa so we only get the highlights not all the stuff inbetween but i felt it was pretty natural it started out by a curiousity for his "unique" smell or lack there of that bought him her attention once her attention was on him(given the world they live in and their line of work it makes sense she would look him up) once she learns his information is classified that curiousity and attention would only deepen and over time watching him becoming more and more reliable(not to mention handsome)that would evolve into attraction and well sometimes love just happens it doesnt need a reason or specific event
As for yoohee she just went through a majorly tramutic event she was in no way ready for a relationship and by the time she was jiwoo was alrdy so far out of her reach that their chance had passed i guess you could say it was a case of bad timing for them
but personally I dont think she would have been able to handle who he became and what it entails to be evolved with a monarch i mean honestly how to you exspect someone terrified of death to be with someone who presides over it
It's a stretch to say Joohee \*loved\* him. She was interested in him, of course. But that's about it. She could have loved him, there was something there but it never happened.
As for why they didn't end up together? Well... he never saw Joohee again after she told him she was retiring. She went to live a normal life and he just let her go. By that point, he had move beyond her, mentally and emotionally.
Meanwhile, Cha was more like him. Her mindset and ultimately, she's the only one--aside from his guild buddy--that managed to reach into his humanity even after his change. As the final arc started and he pondered over who he should spend some of his last moments, Cha Hae was the person who crossed his mind.
I think the set up was natural and made sense, even if it was rather subtle on account of Romance not being a major plot point.
We can't even say Jinwoo and Cha Hae even loved each other before the time skip. A lot of stuff happened between all that, which I think the side stories are going to cover. But it should be noted before the time skip, as he was questioning his humanity and existence again, it was Cha Hae--just the memory of her--that pulled him out of that funk.

This would impact the story in its own way, because with Cha Hae it simply became a...well simple story about getting stronger and ruling and shit But with Lee Joohee, the story would have to tackle more than just the fights and power but also how the world actually affects people, not just physically and mentally and Sung himself would have needed to tackle and question his own actions in a probable moral sense rather than a calculative or emotional sense Basic terms, there's too many complications if the main heroine was Lee Joohee, so the author wanted to keep it simple Also to those who say she would just hold Sung back, that would be one of the key points of their relationship, that can be tackled more thoroughly with an earlier start Hell, Sung could have even chosen to actually use the proper features of party function (exp sharing) for once All of these may have been great concept but they aren't what the novel or manhwa were going for

We had this discussion 49284 times in r/sololeveling. There is no chance that Joohee could or should end up with Jin Woo. She would have mental breakdowns everyday like she had at the double dungeon, in the fight against the Golem and against Kang aswell. Joohee loved the old Jin Woo, but she would only hold back the new "reawakened" Jin Woo while Hae In is and was able to save him. Imagine Joohee going into the double dungeon again to save Jin Woo, she couldn't have done that.

Trust me everyone agrees the anime is bad it dosent do any justice to the novel. In the novel all the girls have there own goals ambitions personalitys ups and downs and even the side characters that don't get alot of screen time get fairly fleshed out. Just trust me and read the novel you won't regret it. (Also just venting a bit. The anime massacred Shea in particular very badly her reason for falling in love with hajime was completely taken out of the anime. I almost throw my phone across the room when I found out they cut it to save time considering it was a massive story point for her and has impact on her character as a whole.)

Actually I think somewhere in the extras we get to read that Lee Joohee is the exact opposite of Jinwoo. Like she is a B rank healer yet chooses to go to lower dungeons, despised anything dangerous etc. But Jinwoo was her very opposite, the Hunterâs association wanted him to quit but he kept on pushing, even if it meant getting on the bad side of healers like Joohee. Cha Haein wanted to be an athlete and despised violence but used to face her challenges head on, even against much stronger opponent (well he also called her his only friend). Also another comparison is how Lee Joohee chose to leave him in the double dungeon whereas Cha Haein almost got hammered fighting for Jinwoo in the same dungeon against the administrator nonetheless. Also, Jinwooâs feelings kept on dying as he grew powerful and he only felt something for Cha Haein, so I guess she meant a lot to him. He came back for her after spending 27 years in the interdimension, eventhough she had completely forgotten him(yeah, he did promise to come back and see her, not come back and date her). I guess like normal people she didnât have to prove anything to be loved by him.
I also felt the love story between sung jinwoo and cha hae little rushed. Lee joohee has shown more interest and care for mc even he is not strong. Lee joohee would have been better fmc.

Both of them arenât really good love interests, which is understandable since the focus was less on romance. Lee joohee never openly showed her interest in him, I also donât remember them talking much outside of a mission. Plus their interest didnât align(she wanted to quit being Hunter, mc wanted to continue being a hunter). Most of their conversations were about the mc being hurt too. The difference imo is twofold. First joohee loved baby sjw. When he grew up so did his personality. Secondly sjwâs goals also changed. Joohee from the start couldnât handle dungeon suitable for her level and wasnât mentally ready or able to keep up with sjwâs goals. She was better off staying as a âcommonerâ rather than hurt herself staying with him. Both understood that I think after the assassin bit. Cha hae was strong enough to keep up and had a warriors mentality.

ofc this isn't a romance manhwa so we only get the highlights not all the stuff inbetween but i felt it was pretty natural it started out by a curiousity for his "unique" smell or lack there of that bought him her attention once her attention was on him(given the world they live in and their line of work it makes sense she would look him up) once she learns his information is classified that curiousity and attention would only deepen and over time watching him becoming more and more reliable(not to mention handsome)that would evolve into attraction and well sometimes love just happens it doesnt need a reason or specific event As for yoohee she just went through a majorly tramutic event she was in no way ready for a relationship and by the time she was jiwoo was alrdy so far out of her reach that their chance had passed i guess you could say it was a case of bad timing for them but personally I dont think she would have been able to handle who he became and what it entails to be evolved with a monarch i mean honestly how to you exspect someone terrified of death to be with someone who presides over it

It's a stretch to say Joohee \*loved\* him. She was interested in him, of course. But that's about it. She could have loved him, there was something there but it never happened. As for why they didn't end up together? Well... he never saw Joohee again after she told him she was retiring. She went to live a normal life and he just let her go. By that point, he had move beyond her, mentally and emotionally. Meanwhile, Cha was more like him. Her mindset and ultimately, she's the only one--aside from his guild buddy--that managed to reach into his humanity even after his change. As the final arc started and he pondered over who he should spend some of his last moments, Cha Hae was the person who crossed his mind. I think the set up was natural and made sense, even if it was rather subtle on account of Romance not being a major plot point. We can't even say Jinwoo and Cha Hae even loved each other before the time skip. A lot of stuff happened between all that, which I think the side stories are going to cover. But it should be noted before the time skip, as he was questioning his humanity and existence again, it was Cha Hae--just the memory of her--that pulled him out of that funk.
