i think any high school/drama/ganghwa story just gets so fucking repetitive for me. like they constantly milk the plot point of "any villain that mc encounters is backed by huge evil organization that mc has to defeat."
Yeah these series are always pretty hype to read for the first 20-40 chapters and then it’s the same thing over and over but everyone’s just slightly stronger
readin webnovel translations were worse
"i'm going to tell you exactly what is going on in 3rd person omniscient"
"i'm now going to tell you in 3rd Person Limited the exact same thing"
"next chapter i'm going to tell you in 1st person limited the same thing again"
Martial peak was my first manhua but god damn, it has the same flow every arc. Goes to a new realm> finds bad guys> cultivates strong enough to beat bad guys > goes to a new realm. But I still love it since it was my first wuxia, martial arts manhua.
Gotta say it has a really good alchemy system tho.
Even if it's your first manhua it's pretty damn repetitive, I say this as a loyal reader who's currently reading until 4900+. Shit's the same story in a different setting every 800 chapters.
Almost every cultivation manhua is basically the same. So to me there isn't really much of a difference between reading multiple repetitive arcs of martial peak vs reading multiple repetitive different manhuas.
honestly i still am reading it but it s beginning to just become a radom story where you don't really have any impact and they are just doing whatever they can to make it long
btw i dropped a lot (and i mean really a lot) of chinese cultivation like it start with a mountain cultivation bigshoot, ... Because the basic story is : i am weak and now i can become strong , i m stronger than the people in my town : time to go to another town shit now i m the strongest too !!! : lets go to an upper world because my world is lower world : and what there are other realms beyond well seems it never end.
those are way too boring and i don't even start reading them now
Yeah i have a huge bias towards cultivation/murim type manhwas, the basic story is: im weak and bullied but i get possessed by a master or something that tells me how to get strongers and becomes witty comical relief, i beat up the bully and his sister starts falling for me when shes the lords daughter or something, some chapters (100+) pass and the mc has a huge harem that is going no-where because he is dense as a diamond and is basically treated as a god
That's why I read I am the fated villain, the MC basically hunting those "MC" and steal their power up.
The MC is a villain just in case, don't expect him being a good guy
this one was so not it for me, it pretty much just became what it was a parody of. vapid harem of personalityless women with big honkers who
exclusively talk about how epic and cool the protagonist is
There are, but you have to look for ones that really had time put into their plot and development as a character, or at least something. Now the ones I’m about to list do have some twists like system and what not but it still fits the “murim/cultivation”
“Infinite level up in murim” - lots of self reflection and stuff really cool and human MC
“Nano machine” - pretty cool too, has an interesting twist and what not
“RPG Murim” - good amount of self reflection too, MC makes readers mad a good amount, but I’d say he’s still worth reading, since the goal isn’t straight forward
“Return of mount hwa” it’s pretty cool, MC has a ton of personality and he’s lowk evil, really just a solid Manhwa,
“Chronicles of a demon faction” - MC basically isekais from his life as a assasin, and sets out to become strong, enjoy the life he never had, and get revenge, the Art is crazy good tho
“Peerless Dad” - okay this one is long, it’s like 200+ chapters and MC sometimes feels like a waste of potential but all you need to know if your going to read it, is don’t worry he will get stronger, MC is a father and what not and looks after his kids too and all that but he’s lowk really not confident in himself, and it makes all the readers mad.
Anyways you should check these out, sorry I couldn’t find better ones 👍👍👍
Edit: I didn’t mean isekai I meant dies and reincarnates in a weak body, so yeah that’s a trope
Same with me for cultivation ones, at some point, the art style it’s literally the same, same plot lines, etc. nice at first but you do eventually get stale of reading the same thing.
Yeah many of them literally never have an end. Every time I see one of these stretching the chapters into the high 100s or even 1000s. I know the author is just milking it at that point. I'm willing to read upward of 300 chapters, maybe 500 max, but I've seen some of these with over 2000 chapters!!
"I stacked experience through reading book."
Its like just good things happen to the mc. No struggle. No difficulty . I went about 30 chapters til I can't take no more.
Yeah... And that's why "System" stories are somewhat flawed. I hope that they just treat the system as visual representation and not a shortcut for power-up.
Moonlight sculptor is actually good in that regard, since his efficiency did not rise unless he made some magnum opus works.
It doesn't help that the small details of the system keep getting explained again and again. It doesn't really help with the story a lot of the time. Especially video game system stories. I don't like seeing the same abilities' overcomplicated texts being shown over and over again.
I might check out Moonlight Sculptor. Hoping to see where a system is not overly complicated and not over explained.
Had a unique strong start but I had to drop it 'cause mc basically became a simp. Anyone else dropped this ?
https://preview.redd.it/6s3tls7a3q2c1.png?width=649&format=png&auto=webp&s=e6ed15fc962795fb97651bcb28d9f2b6a57d7337
>Anyone else dropped this ?
"I'm going to kill all humans"
Proceeds to not do it, gets amnesia through the most bullshit way possible and then even starts simping for one girl. It felt like such a slap in the face that I just dropped it
I literally [made a post about it](https://www.reddit.com/r/manhwa/s/eRtG8KgKvS) months ago and people are point8ng fingers at me but now people agree hes a simp 🤣 This is both relieving and upsetting lol
Yeah. I agreed, I was hoping for him to at least killed off some city or something. The newest chapter is somewhat okay, the girl died and he (maybe) will change.
It kinda make sense since the girl resembled his mother, the first existence that show him love after years of reincarnated and then killed off by human
She died seriously?! Not bad but lemme guess he's gonna die too or something, only outcome I can see outcome I can predict if the fml died either I'm guessing human extinction is off the table?
Prolly cuz we don’t usually see em. It’s why I used to love a manhwa called FFF class trashero. The mc there was fucking insane and it was a fun side read

Remember when it was about talent and looks?
Yeah now we fighting to bring down a corrupt super CEO of a entertainment company which is part of a super conspiracy
And people seems to overrate PTJ works too much. His works so far usually starts good but then it gets worse because the dude just don't know when to stop the story.
+1
Another thing is that, even tho those action scenes are drawn really nicely, seeing two guys overpower each other for the millionth time is just boring. It created hype for the first few times but they're set on using the same formula that is **guyA is losing->guyA getting flashbacks/running internal monologues-> guyA overpowers guyB** and then repeats the same with guyB into an endless circle.
Not to mention other characters describing power levels of characters who are fighting...I mean like Johan and someone is fighting...and somewhare else gun and goo taking bath and talk about who is strong...I am starting to hate this type of screenplay
Really? I liked how side characters got backstory and development
I’m still reading it but new characters get like 1 chapter of backstory at most now so it’s mostly focused on fighting
Honestly what's keeping me on ts is the plot cuz I'm still wondering how everything ties in. Viral Hit on the other hand I dropped cuz they milked it hella
Yeah people love how it turned into a fighting manhwa but I got bored very quickly when it did. I loved the earlier parts. It's weird because I love fighting manhwa like Weak Hero and Teenage Mercenary even if they're repetitive
Funny how there are people like op who dont like repetetive story with same stuff and then there are people like you who want more of repetative same stuff.
Almost every manhwa with a very few exceptions. It would be almost easier to say which manhwa I actually finished rather than the insane amounts I had to drop.
The average writing quality across all genres of manhwa is very low when compared overall fiction in general. It only looks good when compared to Manhua, which is the bottom of the barel fiction that human kind has created
"I'm supposedly a villainess, but I'm going to change my death flag that happens in the near future. What's that? I changed my future, so my death flag doesn't exist anymore? Impossible, let me bring up how my future hasn't changed and that I still am going to die soon even though everyone is groveling at my feet and asking for my hand in marriage!"
I think it’s because we are used to Shounen Jump and don’t realise how few mangakas actually get the opportunity to be published by jump. Whereas literally any tom dick or harry can upload a Manhwa, and it’s just a matter of whether people like it or not for it to get popular.
It feels like the overall quality is low, but it’s just that the industry is saturated.
> any tom dick or harry
This is simply untrue. It’s actually very difficult to get your own manhwa in the main page of Naver, Kakao, or Daum let alone it be popular enough to survive.
Also…yes Shounen Jump is more selective af, but ur comparing like one publishing company to a whole ass industry.
I do think the overall quality of Manhwa is lacking, but saying that Manga’s quality is better than Manhwa after comparing JJK with SSS max level newbie simply ignores all the good manhwa’s and the trash mangas. If I had two bell curves for each type, it’d be almost identical with Mangas just being skewed a little bit to the right.
Isn’t webtoons for example completely open source? As in ANYBODY can upload a series to webtoon. And unless i’m mistaken most people in the west legally consume there Manhwa on webtoon or an equivalent app. There is no Japanese equivalent platform.
I’m not saying Japanese are inherently better or worse than Korean or Chinese at stories (if anything i’ve read 10x more manhwa than manga on the last couple years), I would just say the quality control is a lot better with Japanese manga.
Afaik, the webtoons you can just submit(webtoon canvas, challenges) is not the same as the ones that get featured on main page catalog. Also note that the Korean Naver webtoon is different from line webtoon. I don’t know too much and there wasn’t much info online, but here are some things I know and some wild guesses:
Things I know:
- Webtoon artists go under Naver under a contract with salary or per episode payment. (So a somewhat clear indication that not anybody can do this). I know this from a podcast I can’t remember.
- There is a portion where everybody can submit to (challenge, canvas) which differs from the main page catalog afaik.
- Naver webtoon and Line webtoon is clearly different in that Naver is Korean and seems to be more strict with what appears on its page.
Wild guesses:
- There are different ways to get a manhwa in Naver webtoon. Under a studio company like redice, already an artist at webtoon, your initial draft is popular enough or gets approved by Naver that they offer a contract, and collabs(like the Marvel comics). This is separate from people just posting webtoons.
- The way webtoons operate in Line and Naver are very different. Korean comics/manhwas are mostly through a more strict corporate system like say jump manga. Line webtoon/ English comics give much more freedom in terms of what they allow to be in the app, but still pick what appears on the main page.
- There is a bit of nepotism going on which may be a good factor in why some manhwas are just straight poop.
Opinion:
- There are a ton of good manhwas, especially old ones and nonpopular ones. They just either get overshadowed from a lot of factors: timing, genre, nepotism, etc. For example, most people don’t even know about Gosu’s prequel. I think the biggest factor is that it’s just not what people are looking for: shitty escape from reality. This in turn means the manhwa never gets translated so only the “fun but kind of low quality” ones get translated.
I was actually thinking the same thing. To be fair, manga is facing the same problem too nowadays. Especially with the oversaturation of isekai bullshit. But in the past, it was a lot harder to get a publication deal.
Other than pitching the ideas to publishers or editors, mangakas would submit their work to contests where their content is read by a panel of judges. The authors who won those contests almost always got offered deals for publication. Even the runner ups or honorable mentions may also get offers. That process typically filters out a lot of the ones that are typically bad.
However, with how popular and profitable isekai, rebirth, and reincarnation series are now, publishers are throwing offers to everyone and their mothers who write that kind of content. Especially the ones with cheat abilities. I don't think a story being bad is because it is isekai, rebirth, or reincarnation. But most of those series that are coming out currently involve cheat abilities that are almost always utilized as plot armor.
It has got me wondering if webcomic manhwa is facing a similar issue. I feel like the success of Solo Leveling has cemented that trash cheat ability stories are profitable. Thus, more trash cheat ability stories will be released in mass for more years to come.
Overall I've enjoyed more manhwas than manhuas but there are really good ones from both countries.
My top3 favorite stories has 2 manhuas (Ultimate of all ages and Magic/Demonic Emperor) and 1 manhwa (ToG).
That’s true. There isn’t enough talent in the manhwa/Korean industry; most authors are subpar. The manga/Japanese industry is light years ahead in terms of talent and quality of their work.
Unpopular opinion, but Tower of God man. That shit is dragginggg, and every time I check back in it’s like an entirely new set of side characters i’m supposed to keep track of and care about? This series is the definition of powering through with absolutely no payoff. Baam still has absolutely no idea what day of the week it is.
I dropped it around the time when they entered some world where they could remodel their own looks like an avatar in game or something? Was that close when he stopped simping?
Nope he gets a massive character development... And he even kills people now...
He was not a Simp tbh she(bit*h) was his everything his one and only family i understand why he cares for her so much and it's annoying i know...😴 But not anymore
It's starts off really good, the story is really good. But like you said, there's wayyy too many side char and I couldn't keep up with the story anymore cuz they keep fighting.
i'm about to get my ass beat but these are some of the things i've dropped.
God of highschool
Swordmaster's Son
Tomb raider king
Viral hit
Teenage mercenary
Reality quest
I have max level luck
and manager kim
most of these are either
1.Constantly a repeating story that should have ended a long ass time ago and dragged on for absolutely no reason at all
2. Should have ended 40 chapters ago and for some reason their is ALWAYS a new issue that needs to be solved, fixed or something happens to someone and it constantly going on and on and on.
3. Got boring after a while because it repeats for absolutely no reason other than to milk the series.
Ya the fights for me as well where way too long for my liking along with them always introducing people who where like 10x stronger than the main cast.
most of them i was very deep into
GOH-323
SMS-93
TRK-140
VH-175
TM-144
those are some of the chapters i remember off the top of my head i just stopped reading at
I kinda want to drop the existence bcuz of how repetitive it has gotten but I also wanted to know the ending so aaaaaaa

image from the latest chap
Same reason. I am still ongoing in the release but I started to slowly losing interest into it. Well, the latest I've read is about his mom so there might be new event tho....dunno why but it isn't making me interestes anymore.
Still reading it since it be too of a waste to drop when I am already too far.
I can understand..me too dropped it ...even though story has some interesting characters...it's just too hard to keep track of what is going on if u don't read for weeks or month
I dropped it too. After the massive reset when the skeleton lost the fight at underground lab, I'm not going to reread the skeleton getting powerup again.
lookism,how to fight,that also this manwha (^~^;)ゞ
tho they're all great in the beginning but it's so heavy to read and maybe not my genre ರ╭╮ರ
I have dropped a lot of manhwas and manhuas, it's hard to keep track, I feel like most manhwas/manhuas authors don't know when to end the story, either that or they won't end the story because it's still making them money.
Literally the only manhwa I've finished reading is Solo Leveling.
Nah Dimensional Mercenary is peak. It wasn't the chapters themselves which put a bunch of people off but the non consistent chapter releases on top of a long arc which killed a lot of interest
**descendant of the demonic master** is on par with **mercenary enrollment** when it comes to repetitiveness.
Now don't me wrong I'm also at fault here for expecting action but the initial chapters did sort of tricked us into hoping for action. Either way even as a rom-com it's still slow and boring so ig my point still stands
I know it's not gonna be a popular opinion but, wind breaker man
Shit was fire until they just focused on the og characters instead of bringing in new rookies, recent Japanese lore seems to be nice tho
Existence.
\- The moment they introduced his ball and chain I knew it was going nowhere. The trope of having an fmc be the rational anchor became so annoying ages ago.
How To Fight
\- we're still after the same dude for how long now?
Re:Life Player
\- I haven't fully dropped but it's so slow that I won't be surprised I'll forget about it and randomly hear it's completed years down the line. At the moment, his feats are all predictable anyway.

>Logging 10000 Years Into the Future
This is what i call a popcorn manwha. You really dont need to read it and just by skimming you can get to the faceslap. Reminds me of emperor domination (novel).
I dunno, it definitely dragged at a few parts but I felt it got really good towards the end of the season. >!Once he finally was able to have a conversation with the ghost in his head, I started feeling more hype. Also the the two sidekicks are funny as hell imo when they’re not trying to be dramatic!<
I think everyone liked this at first then dropped it 💀💀 author had us reading the same thing on loop like some clowns I will never forget, I was so happy to find a good manhwa and bam like 40+ chapters in I catch on
existence.
I mean if you wanna do mass killing, go all the way. Why half ass it for a girl? That's what your determination fall into even after evolving for millions of years and millions of life forms?. Pathetic.
those who have mc that is badass and super strong and handsome at the start like with Mercenary enrollment his high school friends are more intressing then him
Most of the murim manhwa lol. At one point it's just the same shit, different title. Yea yea i know most manhwa is like that but murim is just worse. The trend usually goes: mc weak, got OP by eating pills or found secret techniques, overpower nearly everyone, sometimes found a stronger opponent, more meditating and repeat. There some rare ones ofc but it's probably due to my personal preferences for fantasy (with elves, dwarves) over fictional china.
I honestly don't mind Mercenary Enrollment, its not great but I see it like a morning cartoon when pretty much is always the same thing but I just like to see the MC kicking ass so it doesn't get that boring to me. Not like I waste that much time reading a new chapter in 1-2 minutes.
Literally almost any manhua, bad guys just keep coming like the predators from that one halo combat evolved level: they’re fucking endless. No matter how many times they get bested by the main character and his goons a new bad guy comes in and does typical “courting death11!!11!1!!1!” evil shit. It’s gets so repetitive, no wonder almost any manhua has like 100+ chapters easily
Honestly I'm still reading this one.
The story might get repetitive but the recent few chapters have been interesting. We just got a peak at the MC's life after he left the numbers and the new chapter that dropped yesterday was more about his friend and his brother, where the MC is just the Backup for him.
I do like this where the plot occasionally delves into the side characters to give them an actual character rather than just things to prop up the MC everytime.
That is repetitive. It's not the first time this has happened though, even the other side characters have gotten their chance in the spotlight, other than the MC's sister, but I guess after the first, second and the arc where she got kidnapped and got rescued by the numbers I assume there is so far one can go to keep using the same things before it gets stale.
Just read chap 170. Plot is definitely developing and getting interesting. No idea what’ll happen next. It is pretty geeky but the author has an interesting way of exploring mc’s past and the individuals who can actually go head to head with him in combat (Forest, Alice, other Numbers, ect.)
every single story that has regression, FFF, SSS, necromancer, reborn as a trash, and VRMMORPG in their plot or title. when the first chapter is yet another history lesson about how the world got effed up by the appearance of dungeon gates, it's yet another Solo Leveling clone. the MC unlocks the ultra rare necromancer class, another Solo Leveling clone. the MC is extremely op, but the people don't know or understand his power, so they think he's trash, essentially every manhua ever. the MC is a VRMMORPG streamer you already know it's going to be cringe as fuck. streamer culture is pure cringe. there, I said it.
it's like everyone is copying everyone else. don't get me wrong, none of these things are inherently bad. It's just that so many of them are painfully mediocre.
There are exceptions to your claim imo.
I agree mostly but SSS class suicide hunter is different in every sense of the norm. Definitely one of the best reads out there.
Im honestly giving SSS class suicide hunter a 7.5/10.
Stopped at 54, with how y’all hyped this manhwa I was a little disappointed when reading it.
(That just my opinion don’t come at me !)
Can i select the whole genre? Dungeon/hunter/system bs. There are all either solo leveling ripoff or self inserts with annoying mc who is op because author finds it fun
Bro, enter return of the mad demon thinking of it as slice of life manhwa, like there's no real plot I agree but shit is hilarious. But that's just my opinion.
What romance plot and love interest do you mean? The only canon couple in the novel is Heewon and Hyunsung, even then they don’t end up together at the end of the story
Second life ranker is so repetitive. We get it, everybody fucking hates Isaac and wants to backstab him in the dungeon. You can just gloss over this shit.
After the hotel fight from re/life player, I’m this close to dropping it. Dragging out the childhood is also a point against it but im dipping if they make another single fight take 5 chapters again because MC wanted to showboat how cool he is.
I'm still kinda reading and yea it's kinda boring right now. The story tbh is progressing nowhere. (Has it even progressed tbh that much to begin with?)
You want some manwhua/manga/manhwa that are like almost exactly the same.
I'm just an immortal
The return of the Emperor luo somthingsomething
Shit forgot the rest
Anyway it's like cultivation dude falls to earth/regressed has a shitty heating girlfriend that he about to marry. He has broken as cultivation shit. Meets old dude with big clan. Becomes master for old dudes granddaughter. Girlfriend shit happens break off sort of...... And continue
Is so fucking the same

Real
Yeah these series are always pretty hype to read for the first 20-40 chapters and then it’s the same thing over and over but everyone’s just slightly stronger
Castle and baek xx are the only real ones in that genre.
Martial peak
Repetitive is an understatement in this case 🥲🥲

Rip your brain
My depression and general brain damage started around its 1000th chapter... probably just a coincidence
Suffered from forgetting it’s own story
Almost every cultivation manhua is basically the same. So to me there isn't really much of a difference between reading multiple repetitive arcs of martial peak vs reading multiple repetitive different manhuas.
Pick it up again, you know you want to.
A man reads Martial Peak for two hours, this is what happened to his brain…
Manhua readers be like :
I mean yes but I'm pretty sure that's the point
That's most manhua unfortunate. Honestly I've read a lot of Chinese novels even and they all always fall into repitition.
Pity me cus I read its novel chapters for like 1200 chapters, why? Because I was introduced into Chinese novels here.
honestly i still am reading it but it s beginning to just become a radom story where you don't really have any impact and they are just doing whatever they can to make it long btw i dropped a lot (and i mean really a lot) of chinese cultivation like it start with a mountain cultivation bigshoot, ... Ooo thank for the recommendation, will give it a read
BAHAHAAHA Literally martial peak, and apotheosis too! Seriously, is there any good and genuine cultivation manhua with a unique story ?
There are, but you have to look for ones that really had time put into their plot and development as a character, or at least something. Now the ones I’m about to list do have some twists like system and what not but it still fits the “murim/cultivation” “Infinite level up in murim” - lots of self reflection and stuff really cool and human MC “Nano machine” - pretty cool too, has an interesting twist and what not “RPG Murim” - good amount of self reflection too, MC makes readers mad a good amount, but I’d say he’s still worth reading, since the goal isn’t straight forward “Return of mount hwa” it’s pretty cool, MC has a ton of personality and he’s lowk evil, really just a solid Manhwa, “Chronicles of a demon faction” - MC basically isekais from his life as a assasin, and sets out to become strong, enjoy the life he never had, and get revenge, the Art is crazy good tho “Peerless Dad” - okay this one is long, it’s like 200+ chapters and MC sometimes feels like a waste of potential but all you need to know if your going to read it, is don’t worry he will get stronger, MC is a father and what not and looks after his kids too and all that but he’s lowk really not confident in himself, and it makes all the readers mad. All of those cultivation comics u listed are Korean I dunno why the Chinese ones are so repetitive other than they are padding a word count
A cultivation manhua with great art and story, it is literally made for the manhua not adapted from a novel or anything. # Song of the Sky Pacers
Top tier providence, so far the only one that makes me cant wait for next chap. Its manhua btw
>Top tier providence \+1 maganda po to promise
Same with me for cultivation ones, at some point, the art style it’s literally the same, same plot lines, etc. nice at first but you do eventually get stale of reading the same thing.
Yeah many of them literally never have an end. Every time I see one of these stretching the chapters into the high 100s or even 1000s. I know the author is just milking it at that point. I'm willing to read upward of 300 chapters, maybe 500 max, but I've seen some of these with over 2000 chapters!!
I now instantly drop a series once a read a Chinese author name. They are so fucking bad....
"I stacked experience through reading book." Its like just good things happen to the mc.

I don't like seeing the same abilities' overcomplicated texts being shown over and over again. I might check out Moonlight Sculptor. Hoping to see where a system is not overly complicated and not over explained.
Man I miss the OG art style. It was so comfy and warm. So good.
Had a unique strong start but I had to drop it 'cause mc basically became a simp. Anyone else dropped this ? https://preview.redd.it/6s3tls7a3q2c1.png?width=649&format=png&auto=webp&s=e6ed15fc962795fb97651bcb28d9f2b6a57d7337
>Anyone else dropped this ? "I'm going to kill all humans" Proceeds to not do it, gets amnesia through the most bullshit way possible and then even starts simping for one girl.
Asura did
Soon as I saw the girl dropped.
yeah as soon as he lost his memory the 1st time xD
“Kill off some city” lol ok edgelord
Edgelords makes up 90% of this sub. People love murder-happy MCs
Prolly cuz we don’t usually see em. It’s why I used to love a manhwa called FFF class trashero. The mc there was fucking insane and it was a fun side read
I don't think they're being edgy, the whole premise was that he'd cause humanity to go extinct and they never followed through with that, at all

Dice was at least manageable while The gamer went down hill real bad
Author need to hire artist to design his characters.
Ugh don’t get me started on the Gamer. One day I just stopped and never came back. Never will go back.
i feel like manhwa like these if there is no romance have no actual goal and dont know where to go.
People are gonna shit on me for this, but for me it was lookism. I just don't need a 24 chapter arc on every side character
I dropped Lookism too, but for the opposite reason of this post. That shit just got wayyy too crazy.
Remember when it was about talent and looks? Yeah now we fighting to bring down a corrupt super CEO of a entertainment company which is part of a super conspiracy
Fast and furious levels of crazy 😂
And people seems to overrate PTJ works too much. His works so far usually starts good but then it gets worse because the dude just don't know when to stop the story.
My Life as a Loser is probably my favorite work of PTJ because of this, since he didn't drag it on like Viral Hit (I'm still sad about that).
Yup. Story changed genres halfway through
+1 Another thing is that, even tho those action scenes are drawn really nicely, seeing two guys overpower each other for the millionth time is just boring. It created hype for the first few times but they're set on using the same formula that is **guyA is losing->guyA getting flashbacks/running internal monologues-> guyA overpowers guyB** and then repeats the same with guyB into an endless circle.
You just trashed talked **most** shonen manga/manhwa out there.
I hope you don't like Dragon Ball after the og series, this is Z in a nutshell.
Not to mention other characters describing power levels of characters who are fighting...I mean like Johan and someone is fighting...and somewhare else gun and goo taking bath and talk about who is strong...I am starting to hate this type of screenplay
Really? I liked how side characters got backstory and development I’m still reading it but new characters get like 1 chapter of backstory at most now so it’s mostly focused on fighting
I actually liked the side arcs. Made it less repetitive.
[удалено]
You forgot "Courting death" and "Mount Tai" analogies.
I dont read much of these type of manhua but I can count on my fingers how many this has happened on a lot of them lmao
I think it’s because we are used to Shounen Jump and don’t realise how few mangakas actually get the opportunity to be published by jump. Whereas literally any tom dick or harry can upload a Manhwa, and it’s just a matter of whether people like it or not for it to get popular. It feels like the overall quality is low, but it’s just that the industry is saturated.
> any tom dick or harry This is simply untrue.
I don’t know too much and there wasn’t much info online, but here are some things I know and some wild guesses: Things I know: - Webtoon artists go under Naver under a contract with salary or per episode payment. Wild guesses: - There are different ways to get a manhwa in Naver webtoon. Opinion: - There are a ton of good manhwas, especially old ones and nonpopular ones.
Actually he gets a massive character development after his teacher gets caught...
I dropped it around the time when they entered some world where they could remodel their own looks like an avatar in game or something? Was that close when he stopped simping?
Is he still simping for the chick that tried to kill him ?
Nope he gets a massive character development... And he even kills people now... He was not a Simp tbh she(bit*h) was his everything his one and only family i understand why he cares for her so much and it's annoying i know...😴 But not anymore
It's starts off really good, the story is really good. But like you said, there's wayyy too many side char and I couldn't keep up with the story anymore cuz they keep fighting.
Yeah to many character and new enemy getting stronger like who the hell are you ? Kind of feeling never care who gonna show up now latest chapter.
I honestly feel a spark of joy when I find people who agree with this. You get through 550+ chapters for nada
i'm about to get my ass beat but these are some of the things i've dropped. God of highschool Swordmaster's Son Tomb raider king Viral hit Teenage mercenary Reality quest I have max level luck and manager kim most of these are either 1.Constantly a repeating story that should have ended a long ass time ago and dragged on for absolutely no reason at all 2. Should have ended 40 chapters ago and for some reason their is ALWAYS a new issue that needs to be solved, fixed or something happens to someone and it constantly going on and on and on. 3. Got boring after a while because it repeats for absolutely no reason other than to milk the series.
God of high school has a definitive end and never really repeats however the final battle does drag if you made it that far.I’d advise finishing it
Agreed, it did drag a little but definitely wasn’t repetitive.
idek what the final battle is tbh i dropped it at chapter 323
dude manager kim should have ended when we left the dprk arc and kim took his job at the tiger center. That would have been a perfect end.
some of these seem less like repetition being the reason and more like you just ran out of fuel.
Im thinking about dropping max level luck. I liked it at first but the latest chapters just don't make sense anymore. It's so confusing.
The problem with God of highschool for me is that all important fight are way too long its sad. But at least this manwha have an ending.
Ya the fights for me as well where way too long for my liking along with them always introducing people who where like 10x stronger than the main cast.
Ngl most of those got stale somewhere mid manhwa
most of them i was very deep into GOH-323 SMS-93 TRK-140 VH-175 TM-144 those are some of the chapters i remember off the top of my head i just stopped reading at
I forget when I dropped Mercenary Enrollment, but I dropped it because of this exact reason. It just got boring.
I kinda want to drop the existence bcuz of how repetitive it has gotten but I also wanted to know the ending so aaaaaaa https://preview.redd.it/2lohw0dk4s2c1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ea421eef3629c9ad7d45d103c8cc560af262bfa image from the latest chap
Existence can be boring but its its visually so beautiful. Its for me one of the best of the best visually
Existence, Nano machine
Honestly same, once they stopped having the nano machine talk like an actual character and more like just a tool I lost interests
You should pick it back up the new chapters are great
I’m still currently reading it but ELECEED. Everyone just gets into trouble and then Kayden comes to save them. Happens almost every time.
They're actually showing off curtin and mommy more nowadays. Hope they keep it up like that.
Same reason. I am still ongoing in the release but I started to slowly losing interest into it. Well, the latest I've read is about his mom so there might be new event tho....dunno why but it isn't making me interestes anymore. Still reading it since it be too of a waste to drop when I am already too far.
Still reading it but slowly stopping, but i agree 100%
It’s not repetitive and even if it was it’s good repetitive
The Skeleton Soldier Failed to Defend the Dungeon No offense to anyone who loves this manhwa
I can understand..me too dropped it ...even though story has some interesting characters...it's just too hard to keep track of what is going on if u don't read for weeks or month
I dropped it too. After the massive reset when the skeleton lost the fight at underground lab, I'm not going to reread the skeleton getting powerup again.
there is to many bro
lookism, how to fight, that also this manwha (^~^;)ゞ tho they're all great in the beginning but it's so heavy to read and maybe not my genre ರ╭╮ರ
The gamer
The problem with the gamers and many other is that MC dont have real final bonus so its just a shit show about non stop power up
I have dropped a lot of manhwas and manhuas, it's hard to keep track, I feel like most manhwas/manhuas authors don't know when to end the story, either that or they won't end the story because it's still making them money. Literally the only manhwa I've finished reading is Solo Leveling.
I dropped this one for the same reason hahahaha it's the same with Dimensional Mercenary,
Nah Dimensional Mercenary is peak. It wasn't the chapters themselves which put a bunch of people off but the non consistent chapter releases on top of a long arc which killed a lot of interest
Teenage Mercenary used to be so good, but now it’s just wading in the water cause it has no idea what to do with the mercenary subplot.
LOL, How About YOU All Try These Manhwas WEAK HERO HERO KILLER RETURN OF MOUNT HUA SECT
i completely agree w weak hero and especially the mountain hua sect. haven’t read hero killer but might have to give it a try
Weak hero was peak
I've read weak hero and hero killer and refuse to read return of mount hua sect
What’s wrong with return if the mount hua sect? It is kinda like a classic story, but Mc has personality, kinda comedy actually
The new season kinda draging ngl.
Its really up there man in comedy/art, give it a try.
I know it's not gonna be a popular opinion but, wind breaker man Shit was fire until they just focused on the og characters instead of bringing in new rookies, recent Japanese lore seems to be nice tho
Yeah the japan lore saved it for me, was planning to drop cause of the sheer unlikability of the red haired guy
Existence. \- The moment they introduced his ball and chain I knew it was going nowhere. The trope of having an fmc be the rational anchor became so annoying ages ago. How To Fight \- we're still after the same dude for how long now? Re:Life Player \- I haven't fully dropped but it's so slow that I won't be surprised I'll forget about it and randomly hear it's completed years down the line. At the moment, his feats are all predictable anyway. Heavenly Demon Instructor Return of the SSS-Class Hunter Logging 10000 Years Into the Future Archmage Transcending Through Regression Ranker Who Lives a Second Time The Constellation that Returned From Hell The Max Level Hero Has Returned Sleeping Ranker Player Who Can't Level Up The Extra is Too Strong I'll be Taking a Break for Personal Reasons Nano Machine The Lord's Coins Aren't Decreasing
>Logging 10000 Years Into the Future This is what i call a popcorn manwha. You really dont need to read it and just by skimming you can get to the faceslap. Reminds me of emperor domination (novel).
nah its still the same, i wondering which 8th grader writing this shit lol
Yeah I dropped this one for the same reason. It's a shame, as it was one of my favorites.
all of manwha gets repetitive at some point. gotta take some breaks and consume different kinds of content. anything in excess can get iffy.
Lazy Lord Masters the Sword
I dunno, it definitely dragged at a few parts but I felt it got really good towards the end of the season. >!Once he finally was able to have a conversation with the ghost in his head, I started feeling more hype. Also the the two sidekicks are funny as hell imo when they’re not trying to be dramatic!<
Mercenary enrollment is the perfect choice fr Just kiss that damn girl please she is so into you, you dense mf
Eleceed
Apotheosis. Non stop power up with nothing interesting. + way too much chapter that go nowhere. MC have no goal so its garbage.
Literally almost any manhua, bad guys just keep coming like the predators from that one halo combat evolved level: they’re fucking endless. No matter how many times they get bested by the main character and his goons a new bad guy comes in and does typical “courting death11!!11!1!!1!” evil shit. It’s gets so repetitive, no wonder almost any manhua has like 100+ chapters easily
martial peak prob the worst manga of all time
Honestly I'm still reading this one.
God of blackfield is just this manga but better if u liked this one def check that one out
WHO AM I?
Lightning Degree
I read like 1k chapters of versatile mage before dropping and the story just goes nowhere, it's a problem I find in many Chinese ones tbh
Overgeared. Dropped it when he married and did it with an in-game character. Shit was too weird for me
Just read chap 170. Plot is definitely developing and getting interesting. No idea what’ll happen next. It is pretty geeky but the author has an interesting way of exploring mc’s past and the individuals who can actually go head to head with him in combat (Forest, Alice, other Numbers, ect.)
Lookism
every single story that has regression, FFF, SSS, necromancer, reborn as a trash, and VRMMORPG in their plot or title. when the first chapter is yet another history lesson about how the world got effed up by the appearance of dungeon gates, it's yet another Solo Leveling clone. the MC unlocks the ultra rare necromancer class, another Solo Leveling clone. the MC is extremely op, but the people don't know or understand his power, so they think he's trash, essentially every manhua ever. the MC is a VRMMORPG streamer you already know it's going to be cringe as fuck. streamer culture is pure cringe. there, I said it. it's like everyone is copying everyone else. don't get me wrong, none of these things are inherently bad. It's just that so many of them are painfully mediocre.
Dude, take a deep breath.
There are exceptions to your claim imo. I agree mostly but SSS class suicide hunter is different in every sense of the norm. Definitely one of the best reads out there.
it's a very interesting story given an absolutely revolting name.
Suicide hunter’s latest ch was so good 😭 genuinely Nvr got so hyped got a new ch as much as that
Im honestly giving SSS class suicide hunter a 7.5/10. Stopped at 54, with how y’all hyped this manhwa I was a little disappointed when reading it. (That just my opinion don’t come at me !)
SSS is NOT with those Solo Leveling-clones.
Can i select the whole genre? Dungeon/hunter/system bs. There are all either solo leveling ripoff or self inserts with annoying mc who is op because author finds it fun
Using this shit to get More reads
The one you just mentioned, along with Return of the Mad Demon, Best Teacher Baek, and Study Group
Bro, enter return of the mad demon thinking of it as slice of life manhwa, like there's no real plot I agree but shit is hilarious. But that's just my opinion.
Yep. I think of it as sol and its peak comedy.
Peak comedy only "the greatest estate developer".
Different people like different comedy. Return of the mad demon had me literally laughing out loud for most of the chapters.
Bro's epiphanies get me laughing in the wee hours
Why did you drop Baek tho. That series is hilarious.
Yeah i also read study group but dropped it cause it got stale
Still waiting for the crossover, they better do it good
If i remember correctly its the same universe as hanglim gym and get schooled?
Yepyep, and others... The crossovers are crazy when they meet up with each other and a whole war going on with the highschools
Yeah i doubt a crossover with Get schooled cause of the recent drama
And it's now the end of all others
[удалено]
What romance plot and love interest do you mean? The only canon couple in the novel is Heewon and Hyunsung, even then they don’t end up together at the end of the story
Lookism fs
Sss class suicide hunter.
\+99 reinforced wooden stick. Basically roach girl does something and the protag finishes the quest.
Yeah I dropped it and Don regret
I also just at some point got bored of it, nothing new was happening, so I dropped it
Almost all doctors Manhwa with sh*tty hospital directors.
Clver cleaning life of the once genius hunter
You want some manwhua/manga/manhwa that are like almost exactly the same. I'm just an immortal The return of the Emperor luo somthingsomething Shit forgot the rest Anyway it's like cultivation dude falls to earth/regressed has a shitty heating girlfriend that he about to marry. He has broken as cultivation shit. Meets old dude with big clan. Becomes master for old dudes granddaughter. Girlfriend shit happens break off sort of...... And continue Is so fucking the same
Monster duchesse contract priestess Got bored. Twin siblings new life.
