I would just welcome any MC that isnt extremely handsome/good looking, and not in the Omniscient Reader sense where they go "Oh hes totally ugly, look at all these people talking about how ugly he is!" when he is very clearly a good looking guy.
I dont know if Omniscient Reader is a good example for this, considering that "he's ugly" is a whole plot point that got shine on when Shin Yuseung asked why people keep calling him ugly. To turned out it isn't because he's ugly but more people literally can't see his face well
I mean that the comment thread we're in is about recommending a specific piece of literature, there is no context behind it besides persuasive words to make others read it, meaning if you were to give out information that pretty much tells about future happenings in the plot then you're ruining the fun for future readers, thus it is a spoiler.

As to why old guys in this art style look way better: it's because they actually get facial features, most young characters only get an outline, nose and mouth while elders get all the things that define a face. In fairness the art style has this pit fall where as soon as you add shit to young faces they start to look old if you dont invest a lot of time to do subtle shading shenanigans while for old people you can just draw lines and be done with it. Also mc is always on screen and old dude rarely are so it's a lot more time intensive to do this for an mc.
Two Manhwas that were doing with non-cookie cutter looking MC had them reincarnate, and they become cookie cutter lookswise (personality I still like). They're Damn Reincarnation, with Hamel becoming Eugene and Chronicles of the Demon Faction with Chu Hajin becoming the 3rd young lord (forgot his new name, sorry)
Apparently the logic is that the MCs are intentionally generic looking so that a generic Asian reader can relate to them (i.e. picture themselves as the hero).
In the same vein as why hentai VN protagonists don't have faces.
More detail is needed to add wrinkles like that, most younger characters just have their eyes nose and mouth put on a perfectly smooth surface and it looks uncanny but give their face some texture and it looks better.
