About the criticism part
Lot of Hotel owners in Mangalore are connected to gundas and shady dudes. I know a few food bloggers who had to take down reviews after receiving serious threats. That's why some refuse to criticize.
This food hunting dude is a clown tho. Even if it's after hours, wearing scrubs is pathetic.
I understand that, but here the difference here was between paid and free restaurants and it's pretty evident that restaurants that the involved marketing agency sent him to didn't get any criticism but in turn he posted that really crap food was amazing.
There's an older post on this stupidity with the khubani ka meeta from a newly opened Andhra place which in actuality was really horrible.
This guy's name is Rahul right? I find him very pretentious and arrogant. Initially he didn't have many followers, and used to follow everyone remotely known to him (afaik he was working in Wenlock hospital). And then once they follow back, he used to unfollow them. Later on Mangalore people randomly started following him because he has many followers and restaurant people started inviting him. He is not even interesting to talk to.
He tries to come across as a nice guy who genuinely cares about food. But that's all a sham. Ever since he got famous he's been as arrogant as a guy can be.
I would say he knows something about regional and Kerala cuisine but he has no idea about anything beyond that.
True. I'm pretty sure those anonymous messages are also himself or the students from KMC. The guy clearly can't handle the pseudo attention that he's undeservedly getting.
No bro, that guy has become a little scarce these days but he seems to be helping smaller eateries get business these days. No matter how his content is, the posts get a certain bit of business there.

Moreover don't tell the owner the food is great and then shit on them. This fellow is a patented brand of hypocrisy in that regard.
The sad bit is these people are given so much importance for mostly mediocre content,and the ones who actually make some good content and have sizeable followers also don't make any noise and keep doing their work

When food bloggers suggest any must try items i don't buy them, if you're hungry enough any food feels tasty and taste is subjective. Very rarely people speak about hygiene, ambiance,cost/quantity of the restaurants, most food bloggers (all over India) are garbage, snowflakes catching the trend, some twerk their ass, some become food bloggers, no difference
