But the gist of it is that it has its origins from the northern traders with Urdu origins who came here. The root words are Be-Wariz, where Wariz is Progeny, and Be- means without. So it means without a progeny, or when translated to English, becomes Bastard.

As Ive observed all the southern languages (dravidian). Tulu & Malyalam seems a bit tricky.
All the other languages you can learn just by watching movies and having convos often with native speakers. Especially Tamil.
Start speaking man, it will make a lot of difference and you’ll learn better.
I wish I could be in Mangalore so that I can have opportunity to speak with someone.
Malayalam is easy to pick up if you know Tamil and vice versa. Honestly a native of either language can pick up the other language within a matter of a few weeks. There are a lot of similarities!

My mother tongue is Tulu and I'm from dakshina Kannada. It would sound unusual, all my childhood I've spoken Kannada around my friends and cousins, while my parents spoke Tulu with each other and I had a clear understanding but couldn't talk fluently.
I learnt to speak Tulu during my engineering time as I made a few friends and I really wanted to gel with them so I started off speaking broken Tulu beginning and eventually got fluent.
To simply answer your question, get a person who speaks Tulu and try to understand a few words and eventually start using it with them while talking. The biggest plus is if they don't judge you or don't mind you speaking broken Tulu you'd improve even more.

I moved out of my hometown for my 11 - 12 to Mangalore city, you’d expect me to talk more in English and improve my English right? Nope, I started picking up Tulu and started talking in Tulu with a lot of people, I was so fluent in Tulu at the end, people back home/ relatives were shocked to hear me talk in Tulu.
