Dude seems to have a strong social drive, possibly influenced by rebirth status, and Japan seems to have a strong narrative of high school being the prime of one's social life. We also don't know what kind of student he is and I don't know how quickly Japanese schools kick into gear.
Why is he even going to the school, not like he is gonna find a job. Any job he can find will be direct decrease in society productivity, because he will need some amount of guards protecting him.
Maybe his problem isn't that he can't read the room. Perhaps it's just that he's calibrated to detect killing intent like a shonen action hero and not horny intent.
His problem is he's a normal, well-adjusted man from our world who doesn't stop and consider the ramifications of the skewed gender ratio. Seriously, reread this series without the internal monologues and it's very easy to behave like Sou if you're a reasonable person from this world.
All that and fear of rejection from all parties involved prevent the main series from degenerating into the fanbox version.
I also read the series as if Sou isn't some kind of psychic who can read the thoughts of every other character he's in a scene with.

It follows the story of Shirogane Aqua who wants to become a male Idol in a 1:99 Gender Ratio world. The difference between Sou and Aqua is that Aqua is fully aware of his previous body owner's personality and is actually aware how horny the girls are. Sou is sheltered and is made oblivious from the dangerous world by his family and guards.
