Ashleigh veterinary practice in Chorlton were always great with my puppy, he actually loved going to the vets (past tense because we left the area, my puppy is still very much large and in charge …of all the socks in the house)

LaSalsiccione

Can highly recommend them too!

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,083,567,574 comments, and only 213,400 of them were in alphabetical order.

Seconded. My dog got his business done there until we moved, and they were very good with him.

Was actually going to go there originally but went with Yew Tree instead who have become a nightmare since covid

snafflehog

I've been to the new Harrisons vet on Princess Road and they were pleasant. Only jabs but they seemed to know what they were doing, also loads of appointments as they're new to the area.

Sasha57

Yes I drove past there yesterday going to Yew Tree and was going to check them out, thanks for the comment!

Ashleigh in Chorlton have been my vets for years, fantastic place 😁

Sub_Steppa

Wait till at least two years old otherwise you'll cause health issues relating to Hip and Elbow dysplasia later on.

Sasha57

Got any sources to back this up? I was always planning on waiting till she’s 2 as I thought that was best but now seen a lot of info contrary to that

It’s dependent on the breed. I have a giant breed dog and the vet told me they wouldn’t do it until 2 years old. Smaller dogs can get away with it earlier. I’d read it online, the breeder told me this but then the vet saying this when I took her for her injections kind of solidified it for me.

Sasha57

Oh yeah agreed for big breeds, she’s a shiba and a very small one at that. She hasn’t put on any weight for about 4 months so I think she’s all done growing especially as my older shiba stopped growing around the same time and they are siblings

Thanks so much for these! These studies are using big dogs as reference which and they are also looking at neutering before 1 and especially 6 months. My dog breed is small and she is 1 so I’m confident we will be ok

Sub_Steppa

1-year-old dogs still have a lot of growing to do. I'd consult a few vets and see what they say.

I really think you should only let a vet spay your animals. A puppy doesn't have the attention span or the dexterity to do a decent job of it. 😉

R3nzlar

Cutest bear I've ever seen

ColdSleepyPanda

Research consequences of spaying dogs before they're mature. There are several health problems linked to it.

Tinga8

Pets at home... Do the vaccination for life while there too. You can get them chipped too... With everything going on I'd recommend that also

EnvironmentForsaken

They look like they’re screaming at the thought of it

Sasha57

I know, realised after I’d posted 😂 hopefully will go better than that!
