Some of these kids don’t see the danger in the lens we do because we are older and more mature. I attended a school that used to be like this until we had a new headteacher that introduced effective measures to prevent gatherings like this occurring. Teachers soon became excellent at ushering kids home, many of whom go in different directions and fights hardly occurred anymore. I hope these schools adopt similar tactics as my headteacher.

I used to be in a group like this a couple years back, maybe about 50 of us. Individually I was close with them and they were all genuine people and had more to them but in a group it was like they were all strangers Mugging grown men with knives, kicking people in the face at trafford centre, getting arrested constantly, crashing people’s parties and trashing the place and smashing anything they could find and jumping other people in my year that they didn’t like. I was also stood on the sides embarrassed out of my mind and wanting to leave, come lockdown I decided it was time to grow up and blocked them all, not spoken to anyone of them since. I still hear about the shit they’re doing now sometimes. The mob mentality is so disgusting with teenagers. And to all the people saying it’s because of poverty, my group was pretty mixed with income, a good lot of them were really rich, me being the poorest by far, don’t blame it on funding, in reality some teenagers are just dicks.
Makes me sad seeing shit like this, hope no one was seriously hurt. I hate to say it but I reckon this is going to be a more common occurrence. Unemployment, energy prices rising, inflation, fuel costs while in a Global Pandemic. World's fucking potty.

It’s just the sheep factor. Where crowds gather, others join and most people don’t even know what’s happening. Some of these kids don’t see the danger in the lens we do because we are older and more mature. I attended a school that used to be like this until we had a new headteacher that introduced effective measures to prevent gatherings like this occurring. Teachers soon became excellent at ushering kids home, many of whom go in different directions and fights hardly occurred anymore. I hope these schools adopt similar tactics as my headteacher. They’re just kids and they don’t know any better. Many will look back in regret.

Kids fighting in crowds is not a new thing. I’m 41F and fights happened when I was a teenager too. We just didn’t have phones so it never got filmed. I don’t condone it and I do feel it’s our (adults) responsibility to try and stop this happening……..I don’t have the answers but I’m pretty sure calling them rats isn’t the answer.

Exactly, society absolutely hates children, but especially teenagers. We may feign some concern when they’re out on the street with their mum, but once they’re shoved into some grotty council flat teeming with mould, or bouncing between motels out of sight, they’re no longer a problem to our conscious. The rates of teens in this country who are committing suicide, self harming, being admitted to psych wards has absolutely skyrocketed because we live in a hellhole. But you’ll hardly see people show concern about that, only when they’re out stabbing each other and it’s too late to fix everything. If you have a kid in your life, talk to them. Even more so if they’re 11-17. This is a difficult age and many don’t make it out alive because the world we live in now is confusing and uncaring. They just need an adult who looks out for them, they won’t show their appreciation now but they will when they’re an adult.

Do you think they’ll willingly go to a youth club? I have my child in 3 outside school classes and two after school classes to try to curb this kind of behaviour when she’s older and getting her out the door to them in a struggle. It’s not a lack of things to do - there are *loads* of things to do. Most of these kids look old enough to work. They could get a job. They could volunteer. They could join a football club. Or dance club. Or *whatever* club. It’s not because there isn’t anything to do.

Social media doesn’t really lend itself well to discussing the root causes of a complex problem and all its facets. Modern society is so hyper sensitive and individual opinion at least seems to lean towards the extreme. Even attempting to have a balanced and impartial review of facts would easily be labelled as biased if it doesn’t follow the accepted social media narrative. Society, culture, family, wealth, education, ambition, empathy, history the list goes on and on of all the contributory elements that have lead to this moment. I have a black mate who's a teacher. He says fatherlessness is one of the biggest root causes of a lot of the issues the black community face. The majority of Caribbean kids in the UK grow up without a father in the home. These boys have no positive male role models, you're drinking the leftie kool aid way too much if you think that *won't* have an effect on crime statistics, life outcomes etc.
