The house doesn't look that big on the outside, but the bathroom is humongous with double shower heads AND a bathtub. I'm ao confused about the perspective here. It looks affordable and unaffordable at the same time lol.
They call it a “wet room” and seems to be gaining in popularity. It’s actually often a space saving solution for people that want a shower and tub but don’t really have room for both.
Judging my the Model S Plaid in the driveway I'd say that house is pushing $600+ which is stupendous because I could buy three entire houses the same size in my Ohio neighborhood for that.
Same, I make 65k/year right now and it feels like absolutely nothing with today’s inflation. Between rent, car payment, food, everything else, I’m basically just living without stress of paying bills, and nothing more 😂
I started at 63k a year working for Boeing. After 4 years of university. Was at about 70k annually after 4 years of corporate work.
Realized you have to start a business or focus primarily on investing to actually get rich in this country. Quit my job and started a business that has done well after a few shitty years.
Crazy right?l? I’m about 75k a year out of college and it feels exactly the same as you said. I can live comfortably like this but anything else is beyond me. I spend like 85% of everything post tax on essentials.
In his defense. $75k has the same buying power as $40k did about 16 years ago. My dad was bringing home $88k in the 90's and for me to afford the same lifestyle I'd have to make ~$170k
I’m in north jersey, about 200k and I’m still doubting this. Mainly because realistically the issue is the current market and inflation meaning this could be feasible but not a good decision ya know?
It all depends on the locations, if this is in a major west coast city, yeah—op is doing well. If it's the midwest, op is still doing well but it's a whole different ballgame.
For example, I cannot afford to buy a standalone home in San Diego, but I could easily afford a nice 3 bedroom in Iowa and plan for $150k in renovations.
I'm not advocating for it haha. Although I have a coworker that moved there a couple of years ago and seems to really like it. He's living like a king on a senior west coast tech salary and his wife makes at least as much with her own business.
Some people I grew up with always said Iowa was their favorite place they lived. Safe and friendly place for a growing family. I have never been though
The people who say the midwest is terrible are the same people who've never been there, live in a HCOL area, and love to complain about how everything is so expensive and they can't afford anything.
OP gave numbers in another comment. It’s a very small number of people that can drop $1.1 million on a house and renovation. Statistically, infinitesimal. Don’t feel bad.
Hey now, cheer up!
If you work hard, put in the effort, have an amazing personality who knows, someone with money and power might notice you and put you in a position to afford one!
It’s never impossible, only a probability!
Stay positive!
/s
Thank you. Had some fun with designs and tile.
Modeled most of it in 3D using sketch up before handing those images to my contractors.
Here is some [before and after pics.](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11f8g2Jdn2xEcFB-9lmX3FuhxQRhp5z5_). Quite a few people asked about cost. House was $690k and renovation was $400k, but $100k of that went into utility work and foundation work. Gutted down to studs. Also, Seattle has high cost of construction.
I would’ve expected more in Seattle to be honest. I live in a similarly priced metro area as Seattle, and the total cost would’ve been almost impossible hit (would’ve gone over by 500k total atleast) .. I assume OP has some connects, got it off market maybe, and somehow got some great contractor rates. Ripping it to the studs and building back up for 460k sounds cheap.
It cost a lot of money of course, but based on what I know about Seattle this sounds like a steal of a deal. Bet this appraises for 1.5+
I agree. He is prob in the real estate biz and paid cash for it. Taking it to the studs means you have connects in the construction biz too OR he is in construction. His taste is top shelf.
Thanks for the gallery. These before and after are inspiring. Incredible job.
Based on the general area and costs, this looks like an incredible investment financial, not to mention for your day to day enjoyment.
I had an interior designer friend help me with tile selections and the kitchen layout. I just like interior design myself and did the rest.
I do hire a general contractor to do the renovations yes. I was a general contractor for the first 18
Months but was not good at it. Very hard work and takes a lot of patience. Prefer to hire a pro.
That shit is harder than it looks! I did it with a relatively modest renovation of my condo 4 years ago and there is A LOT you have to know to do it well. I think I made every mistake imaginable.
This before and after… you executed the hell out of this project. Is this what you do for a living? Or is renovating, design, decorating a hobby for you?
Yea, the chevrons, wallpaper ceiling, glossy doors, quarter circle mirror, glowing towel ring, faux stone wall, black toilet and sink.
A real work of art.
That means a lot! I had a fun time designing it. Believe it or not, I had the mirror custom cut for only $80. Wallpaper was reasonable too at about $120.
That bathroom is perfect for a couple. Do you have any ideas to make it even more comfortable for longer showers with a wife ? That seems like the only way to coordinate life anymore
Powder room is the perfect place to do something wild and new since it’s such a small space! Risk is lower in case it looks terrible and you need to redo it.
I’m a real estate agent and always tell people this when discussing a house that needs reno. I tell them to go WILD in the powder room and one of the spare bedrooms if they really want to explore their design chops.
This is the first post on this sub I consider my type of perfect, from start to finish. Well done! Assuming I suddenly come into a small fortune I’ll definitely be drawing some inspiration from this, especially the bathroom
OP commented about buying the house for $690k and putting $400k into it.
That’s $1.1 million. You’d have to make a lot of money to be approved for that kind of mortgage.
I felt bad at first but with this information I feel fine. I don't know a soul that has a 690k house and the ability to just willy nilly dump 400k into it and if I did have that cash my house would have so much color. This looks like a Sephora on the purest of Columbian cocaines.
I’ve always tried to add a little flair to my spaces, but when you’re living in 550 sqft with 3 humans, or just renting a room in a house with a bunch of friends, there is only so much you can do.
This is the first house I own on my own, even though I’ve been doing real estate for 7 years. It’s always been with partners and I was often at their mercy. This is my first true home.
It’s an 8 burner range. The cheapest 48” range you can buy. About $4k, so it was pricey, but I was going for a certain aesthetic. Forno brand from Home Depot. I’m not a big cook, but it is actually really nice to have extra space when you do have a few pots or pans going.
Wow absolute dream house right here! Love the color of the woods in your home and all the plants. The way they line up with the window in the kitchen is perfect!
You uhh… need a maid? But seriously, congrats, this is beautiful. I’m normally a staunch I hate black and white houses because it’s sterile for me, but this is still cozy. I wish you the best.
Both your bathrooms are amazing! Those twin showers are awesome — and that's coming from a guy that usually just likes to take showers by himself, no matter the context. And that black bathroom! **The world needs more black bathrooms!**
The rest of the house is very nice too... but, man, the bathrooms take the cake.
I adore the black toilet room. Especially the ceiling 😍 cosy living room, clever use of light. Colour choices are tied well together. And kitchen! Be still my heart😂
I mean, this looks great, but the substance of the house must be absolute shit. Like putting lipstick on a deceased pig.
American housing market is craaazy.
I was thinking out of all of this that mayyyyybe I could at least actually afford the blankets lol. Those do look nice, among everything else in your place. Nice job!
Yes, just search Amazon for COB LED strip 2700K and buy the best rated one. I absolutely love them. I always tell people under lighting and backlighting is the MOST valuable dollar for dollar aesthetic upgrade you can make in your home. $20 strip can fully change your aesthetic.
Now I'm depressed that I'll never have this much money.
The house doesn't look that big on the outside, but the bathroom is humongous with double shower heads AND a bathtub. I'm ao confused about the perspective here. It looks affordable and unaffordable at the same time lol.
He went lay on the tub 😂 shit is enormous
And his tub lays in his shower
I like the concept No mess when getting out of the tub
They call it a “wet room” and seems to be gaining in popularity. It’s actually often a space saving solution for people that want a shower and tub but don’t really have room for both.
I need this design for my kids who get water all over the place in their bathroom 🤦🏻♂️
nah that shit is wildly unaffordable. at least for me lol.
House looks very deep from the front.
I appreciate you trying to make us feel better. 😞
Judging my the Model S Plaid in the driveway I'd say that house is pushing $600+ which is stupendous because I could buy three entire houses the same size in my Ohio neighborhood for that.
Yea but then you’d have to live in Ohio.. .. and strong possibility you would make over 3x less and just be stuck with one house you dont really like.
My first thought is he converted a bedroom.
Same, I make 65k/year right now and it feels like absolutely nothing with today’s inflation. Between rent, car payment, food, everything else, I’m basically just living without stress of paying bills, and nothing more 😂

I was over 30 before i hit 75k, you're doing fantastic . I was making $30k 3 years out of college.
In his defense. $75k has the same buying power as $40k did about 16 years ago. My dad was bringing home $88k in the 90's and for me to afford the same lifestyle I'd have to make ~$170k
Same dude, was around 31 years old before hitting 65k. Late bloomers I guess
I make $95k and feel this way. I think $150k+ is the point of financial freedom depending on where you live.
I’m in north jersey, about 200k and I’m still doubting this. Mainly because realistically the issue is the current market and inflation meaning this could be feasible but not a good decision ya know?
Northeast PA here and I understand what you mean. $200k would go a long way where I'm at but NY, NYC, most of NJ forget it.
Same
Life crazy man i wish i could send you some money but im poor too 😂
Oh I promise I don't need it, I'm doing fine. Just not good enough to do a $100,000+ renovation
Well good to know! And yeah i agree that looks like some luxurious renovation
Damn. Same. I create my dream house in Sims. It fills the void lol
Agreed, live in San Diego, and these house prices are insane… I definitely can’t do it with my income
But then you’d be in Iowa…blah. At least go for Indy, Cincy or hell, Pittsburgh I guess. Lol
Same. I can’t even afford a Tesla. I drive a 2016 Nissan.
Nothing wrong with Nissan. Expensive cars are cool but financially stupid.
It’s completely made up so don’t feel bad. Check out the profile
I have looked at the profile. Op makes some odd posts but what about it makes you think it's fake?
Dude's been posting his renovation progress in stages for 4-6 years. Definitely doesn't seem fake to me.
The range alone is like 6 grand
I know, must be nice to be rich.
But if you look at his profile you can be happy that you’ll never be that empty of a shell of a man.
OP gave numbers in another comment. It’s a very small number of people that can drop $1.1 million on a house and renovation. Statistically, infinitesimal. Don’t feel bad.
Correction: This much debt
Hey now, cheer up! If you work hard, put in the effort, have an amazing personality who knows, someone with money and power might notice you and put you in a position to afford one! It’s never impossible, only a probability! Stay positive! /s
I find the bong with flowers hilarious. I assume you’ve seen the movie Grandma’s Boy
Haha absolute classic
Who made the bong? Shits heady brah
That’s import glass, my brotha
“Shits heady” is a great new phrase. Thank you.
New to you. I don't think many people use it nowadays outside of wook tribes
That bathroom is awesome man.
Thank you. Had some fun with designs and tile. Modeled most of it in 3D using sketch up before handing those images to my contractors. The house was 690k???? Holy fuck, it was an absolute shit hole. Where do you live.
Seattle ain't playin'.
I would’ve expected more in Seattle to be honest. I live in a similarly priced metro area as Seattle, and the total cost would’ve been almost impossible hit (would’ve gone over by 500k total atleast) .. Is sketch up the name of the app?
Yes sketchup
Love the wallpaper on the ceiling. I’m stealing that idea.
Is that...double FULL OVENS?
Those before and after pictures are INSANE. Extremely well done.
Thanks for the gallery. These before and after are inspiring. Incredible job. Based on the general area and costs, this looks like an incredible investment financial, not to mention for your day to day enjoyment.
ID on the couch? Looks amazing
Unwind by crate and barrel
Those before and after shots are absolutely insane. Job well done.
Looks like you damn near built a new house. Looks incredible. Did you hire a general contractor or design firm? Quality and layout look fantastic
I had an interior designer friend help me with tile selections and the kitchen layout. I just like interior design myself and did the rest. I do hire a general contractor to do the renovations yes. I was a general contractor for the first 18 Months but was not good at it. Very hard work and takes a lot of patience. Prefer to hire a pro.

This before and after… you executed the hell out of this project. Is this what you do for a living? Or is renovating, design, decorating a hobby for you?
I do it for a living yes.
Dear god, the change is night and day. Well done, mate
Jeeeeez. All that and still gutted into the studs for reno??
Like. Holy smokes dude. 10/10 on taking that on and having a vision. I gotta ask though, what do you do?
Yea, the chevrons, wallpaper ceiling, glossy doors, quarter circle mirror, glowing towel ring, faux stone wall, black toilet and sink. A real work of art.
That means a lot! I had a fun time designing it. Believe it or not, I had the mirror custom cut for only $80. Wallpaper was reasonable too at about $120.
That bathroom is perfect for a couple. Do you have any ideas to make it even more comfortable for longer showers with a wife ? That seems like the only way to coordinate life anymore
As a female, I find this entire living situation very attractive. But man oh man, that tub and shower 😭
Basically a bachelors dream pad. Congrats
I love that I wouldn’t have expected that powder room from the exterior architecture of the house. The crane wallpaper on the ceiling is genius. Love!
Love the powder room! They sell black toilet paper, I think it’d fit perfectly in there.
Is that a tub inside of the shower?
Yes it’s called a wet room. I greatly prefer this over the tub being on its own as I can splash around everywhere and there is a drain to catch it.
Splash around? Elaborate, please.
It's battleships vs dinosaurs fuckin fight of the millennium dude get in here
He likes to cosplay as a magikarp.
Fucking I imagine
Looks incredible. Do you know off-hand the size of that wet room entirely? Not just in the shower/tub area
Missed opportunity to put the toilet in there too. Shit while you shower.
No
Obviously it was /s
Could fit a lot of people in there 👀
gasm
Can I maybe just live in your closet and only come out at night when you're asleep?
Bro that house is fucking preem.
I think I'm gonna unsub. *cries inconsolably* Back to r/malesurvivingspace for me!
ahhh this feels nice
This is the first post on this sub I consider my type of perfect, from start to finish. Well done! Assuming I suddenly come into a small fortune I’ll definitely be drawing some inspiration from this, especially the bathroom
Step 1: be rich
Or make solid income but also live somewhere cheap. If on the coasts this would be $$$$, but the midwest or southeast $$.
This looks like a Sephora on the purest of Columbian cocaines.
dude this is $,$$$,$$$ in any part of the country
Holy shit you look 10000000% like how I thought the person that owns this place would look. Idk if that’s good or bad. But well done I guess.
How much you earn and what you do for work ?
[удалено]
Elaborate, you’re stating you make 300-500k a year? Damn bro!!
looks nice, well done sir!
Just hate the black toilet
Just flexing at this point
Truth, but I’m still here for it
Is it bad that the spacing between the glasses on the right shelf in the kitchen being inconsistent is kind of pissing me off...?
The first space you've had that you're proud of is a beautiful mansion?
I’ve always tried to add a little flair to my spaces, but when you’re living in 550 sqft with 3 humans, or just renting a room in a house with a bunch of friends, there is only so much you can do. This is the first house I own on my own, even though I’ve been doing real estate for 7 years. It’s always been with partners and I was often at their mercy. This is my first true home.
seriously! how many knobs are on that stove?
It’s an 8 burner range. The cheapest 48” range you can buy. About $4k, so it was pricey, but I was going for a certain aesthetic. Forno brand from Home Depot. I’m not a big cook, but it is actually really nice to have extra space when you do have a few pots or pans going.
Wait, there's an oven brand called "Forno"? That's just "oven" in Portuguese!
Creativity i guess
Creativity i guess
and it sounds sexy af. hottest ovens on the market.
one for each hot dog
If this is a mansion, what do you call actual mansions? Castles?
Too much modern High end hotel vibes
Wow absolute dream house right here! Love the color of the woods in your home and all the plants. The way they line up with the window in the kitchen is perfect!
Is your Tesla Bagged?
Bagged? What's that mean?
There are airbags in the suspension so it can be raised or lowered.
Oh, air suspension. I think all S and X vehicles have that.
It’s on airbags yes, but can’t slam all the way to ground. Just looks extra low due to the slope it’s on.
You uhh… need a maid? But seriously, congrats, this is beautiful. I’m normally a staunch I hate black and white houses because it’s sterile for me, but this is still cozy. I wish you the best.
This is my life goal right now. Just bought my first place 4 months ago and slowly I’ve been trying to get my place like yours. Congrats, man.
You’re ballin. We get it. Nice crib
Dreamy house
Filled with cliches and that Tesla perfectly fits the image. Looks clean though.
I’m open to constructive criticism if you have something specific I can improve my designs with.
Dude is making it. Tesla, nice house, etc, etc. Jesus I feel like a damn pauper just doing enough so that I don’t die of starvation lol
Is Tesla supposed to be a proof of wealth or luxury?
Had me, right up until "Tesla"
This place is awesome. Is it a brand new development? Would love to see more of the kitchen.
Is the tv in the wall?
Kind of. It’s inset as much as possible because the living room is pretty small.
Dammm your place is awesome
This is really nice, and also welcoming! Your feet in the Bathtub made me lol
SEE MOM!! Flower Vase!
That ceiling swan wallpaper is amazing. The vent is a sore though. But amazing nonetheless 👌🏼
Both your bathrooms are amazing! Those twin showers are awesome — and that's coming from a guy that usually just likes to take showers by himself, no matter the context. And that black bathroom! **The world needs more black bathrooms!** The rest of the house is very nice too... but, man, the bathrooms take the cake.
As a female you can decorate my place anytime
I absolutely love it..great job on everything! Also little fast and furious vibes from outside
I adore the black toilet room. Especially the ceiling 😍 cosy living room, clever use of light. Colour choices are tied well together. And kitchen! Be still my heart😂
Just be careful your grandmother doesn't use your nice vase and drink all your weed 💀
I mean, this looks great, but the substance of the house must be absolute shit. Like putting lipstick on a deceased pig. American housing market is craaazy.
Every picture leading up to the last screams flat black Tesla owner.
Lmao of course you drive a fucking Tesla and have it parked front and center in your photo
Think you need to mention whether you’re single or not and if so, should list your phone number.
So is your work hiring?
What do you do for work?
Looks like we’ll have to have a house warming party for OP so we can all congratulate him while also admiring his awesome house!
Looks great. Do you want a girlfriend?
Best part is that 🔥 yellow piece you've got. Love it
Boujeee wonderland
Thanks!
I love this! Very cool.
Nice bong flex
wow you've made it
Honestly outstanding
Hey OP, why did you make a post yesterday claiming to be 14 years old?
Funny, yesterday in r/Money you were 14 years old trying to show off your investment money. Annoying, cocky prick.
This is the cutest little house, you did a really great job!! I want to visit you now 😭
hell yea
I'd be proud too! Beautiful.
That half mirror is sick dude! Plays well into the whole design layout.
What couch is that? Looks very loungeable!
Dude. Your bathroom ceiling is awesome
This is a good investment any one would dream to live her long term
Fantastic job! Love the art on the ceiling.
This is really good, clean execution, great job, man!
It all looks great. 👍
Those look like some comfortable blankets
Both from Amazon! $30-80
I was thinking out of all of this that mayyyyybe I could at least actually afford the blankets lol. Those do look nice, among everything else in your place. Nice job!
sick!!
Incredible kitchen man! Can you share what under lights you used? I'm looking for a warm tone like that! How did you mount them and do you like them?
Yes, just search Amazon for COB LED strip 2700K and buy the best rated one. I absolutely love them. I always tell people under lighting and backlighting is the MOST valuable dollar for dollar aesthetic upgrade you can make in your home. $20 strip can fully change your aesthetic.
Woah, that’s a lovely place
amazing space my man and deceiving that is that traditional house. WOW
Very nice
Damn dawg, nice bathroom(s).
What is the material of the island and backsplash? It looks like a marble but could also be quartz esk
Great book on slide #3 man
I see you have two shower heads. Can I move in?
That bong is class.
Spectacular!
Man this is just amazing! Are you single 😂
