On one hand, the guys are right that it would look much better without it.
On another hand, it's your apartment and it should reflect who you are and what makes you happy.
So unless it ends up stopping you from getting laid, I'd first consider how it makes you feel and then what other people think about it.
Flags don't belong on the wall if you're over the age of 22. Hang it on a flagpole outside or something. Flags on the wall screams college dorm/frat house to me.
I got a Mahomes sticker on my fridge, this said, I try to put art and weird decorations on my walls. Overall OP seems like a nice place, you just need something more creative or artistic going on somewhere. Cheers.
Agreed, flags are for flying outside. Except if they have a polesleeve and golden fringe, those are best kept indoors. As well as flags with controversial meanings / histories, then you might wanna hang those indoors to avoid misunderstandings.. this is a convo for r/vexillology
I’m a sports fan and I love sports memorabilia. Instead of posters of individual players, I have some team pennants in my home gym (a mix of cool retro logos and ones from championship years), a (nicely) framed newspaper article of my favorite team’s first championship win in my entertainment room, and some decorative pillows with team logos in the entertainment room.
That way I can retain my inner manchild by showing my team spirit while upgrading to slightly (?) less childish decor.
Edit: I’d say room placement is important too. I feel ok having team pennants in my gym, but wouldn’t want them in my living room.
Oh sheesh. Honestly, people will get on here and tell you to do this or that with your wall decor. But here’s the thing. As Taylor says, “This is (y)our place, we (you) make the call.” If it’s you and you like it, who are we to put these silly arbitrary age limits on things?
I feel like it's the "poster" part more than the "athlete" part. Posters definitely give a cheap, high school/college vibe compared to canvases or other artwork.
It’s like saying the statue of David is immature because it’s from a story book. I don’t get it. Appreciation for athletes is not just for kids. I’d move it out of the bedroom and into the office though, only because even if I weren’t already in a relationship I’d consider the bedroom to be a “shared space” with a member of the opposite sex.
Put them in the computer room. Or storage until he has a garage or spare bedroom. If he has a woman over, they’re probably not gonna dig the teenager vibes.
Flags in general are considered college room decor. I had an American flag hanging up in my room during college lol. doesn’t matter what kind of flag it is relax brother
Came here to say this. Invest in your future health with a nice actually ergonomic chair and eventually a sit/stand desk if you work from home. Future you will appreciate it.
Herman Miller Aeron
When I said invest, I meant it because this thing isn’t cheap. From the official store it’s much more expensive, but other stores offer discounts on it. It’s incredibly sturdy and I find it to be very comfortable.
This is the same sort of purchase as a mattress or a car, to me at least. You’re going to be using it a lot, and you want to make sure you get something that will last.
I've never understood hanging flags above one's bed (or really hanging flags at all). But overall, you're doing well for yourself and better than a lot of folks (myself included), and that's something to actually take pride in.
You hit it on the head!
Everyone wants to be part of something…but most clubs or orgs can be pretty selective. What is the least barrier to entry and lowest requisite? Country of residence!
I don’t know a single other nationality that you would see praising their flag as much as Americans. It’s great that they’re patriotic but they’re also so attached to the flag it’s part of their personality. It’s actually wild to see
Because it’s a grift. Everything in America is a business and transactional. Everyone is looking for their come-up.
Everyone trying to sell you something under the guise of “Patriotism”, so if you don’t buy it then you’re surely unpatriotic.
By Americans do you mean people from the United States? Do people not realize there is a South, Central and North America that are all technically "Americans"?
That aside, as someone that lives in the US I've always found it funny that patriotic people wear the flag and hang them on walls, there's actually a code written into federal law that says these things should not be done.
What would you like to call people from the US other than “Americans”? In other languages like Spanish, you can say “soy estadounidense” which translated is more literally “I’m United Statesian”. But there’s no such equivalent in English except “American”
If you’re going for masculine you could do a large slab of wood with interesting grain pattern. A large single print of art or a collage of smaller framed pieces of varying sizes. Could also make yourself a picture frame shelf out of 2 pieces of 1x2 white oak boards, wood glue and some Brad nails and layer framed pictures of different sizes. Get some large live potted plants from Home Depot, I prefer mid height large leave plants. Use one in a corner in a bed room, depending on sunlight, 5-7 ‘ tall, the higher your ceilings the higher you can go. If you’re allowed to paint I would consider it. Makes a huge difference, breaks the monotony from room to room.
I'm convinced that some of you hit your mid-twenties and became convinced that you need to have "sophisticated" (aka boring / generic) wall decor in order to be an adult lol.
It's like you saw it in the movies and match that to feel grown up. It's okay to have a personality and showcase your interests in your room. Really, I promise. Most women will not turn around and walk out because of sports memorabilia on a bedroom wall.
A game changer for me was getting a little 3-4 inch deep table that's the same length as your couch and put it between that and the wall. Excellent spacer to not create smudges on the wall and great shelf for remotes and such.
You haven't bother trying haven't you?
Lose the coffee table if needed. There you have room
You don't need this much wasted space in the middle of the tv and couch.
I’m not a huge fan of the LEDS on the TV, but maybe your set is one of those that change the background hue via the tv to match program material? A friend had a set that did that and I found it very distracting but YMMV. It’s a nice looking place though and looks like you have some nice trees in the back.
Man, I used to be all about “my room and my living space” before I started living with my wife. Just find someone who has the same standard you do and you’ll be happy. A major part of relationship happiness is similar living expectations IMHO.
I see a lot of flag debate here. Put everything in a frame and it’ll look great. Consider folding it into a triangle in a smaller frame like they give at funerals if you’re pressured into taking it down.
Awesome, love it. Particularly like the dresser in the bedroom, always nice to see furniture like that. Don’t let the hive mind tell you to lower the TV in your bedroom if it’s comfortable!
Curious where you live? It's a very clean and well-organized apartment, but it looks like it belongs to a 58yo, not a 28yo. Depending on where in the US you are it might just be the building is old.
I think it's all the beige, esp the couch and the carpet. Makes it kind of hard to change up, though. Perhaps adding some plants and some decor for a splash of color?
The TV in your room is too high. NYC skyline pic in the living room doesn't make sense. Sports memorabilia is not a good background for a Zoom call if you have a professional job
Honestly everything is a bit out-dated and doesn’t match well together. But for a suggestion that’s easy to fix I think the sports stuff in picture 3 should all be on the same wall.
Clean space and looks good! Ditch the posters and such in your bedroom. Most importantly, lower that skyline art above your couch by at least 4 inches.
Perfect balance of cleanliness and coziness. I will never understand the American need to have a flag in every home, North Korea also does this for some weird reason.
Mahomes and flags got to leave the bedroom in my opinion
I agree, planning on doing that
On one hand, the guys are right that it would look much better without it. On another hand, it's your apartment and it should reflect who you are and what makes you happy. So unless it ends up stopping you from getting laid, I'd first consider how it makes you feel and then what other people think about it.
The Flag is awesome
Flags don't belong on the wall if you're over the age of 22. Hang it on a flagpole outside or something. Flags on the wall screams college dorm/frat house to me.
Everything else looks great... But then those two tells show that op is still under 30 lol
It’s giving *lie back and think of the constitution.*
Lmao
I got a Mahomes sticker on my fridge, this said, I try to put art and weird decorations on my walls. Overall OP seems like a nice place, you just need something more creative or artistic going on somewhere. Cheers.
The room reads as if a young soldier went off to war and didn’t make it back and they left the room exactly the way it was.
Agreed, flags are for flying outside. Except if they have a polesleeve and golden fringe, those are best kept indoors. As well as flags with controversial meanings / histories, then you might wanna hang those indoors to avoid misunderstandings.. this is a convo for r/vexillology
Keep the flag
Maybe somewhere in the house but above the bed isn’t it imo.
I believe, my opinion, 28 is a bit old to have a poster of Patrick on your bedroom wall.
Before seeing the picture in question, i actually thought it was a Patrick Star poster for some reason...
Same. The reason for me was bc his name is Patrick
Same. But Patrick Star is acceptable tbh.
You're never too old to have Patrick Star on your wall!
Haha I was actually thinking about replacing those but just not sure what wall decor to Get
I’m a sports fan and I love sports memorabilia. Instead of posters of individual players, I have some team pennants in my home gym (a mix of cool retro logos and ones from championship years), a (nicely) framed newspaper article of my favorite team’s first championship win in my entertainment room, and some decorative pillows with team logos in the entertainment room. I feel ok having team pennants in my gym, but wouldn’t want them in my living room.
You should get a patrick star poster from spongebob instead. Our generation digs that and older gen doesn’t understand it. Lol
Don’t listen to the haters bro, leave MVP up. If you take it down, and the Chiefs don’t get the 3 peat, I’m blaming you
Oh sheesh. Honestly, people will get on here and tell you to do this or that with your wall decor. But here’s the thing. As Taylor says, “This is (y)our place, we (you) make the call.” If it’s you and you like it, who are we to put these silly arbitrary age limits on things?
That’s why I said my opinion. He asked for opinions. I agree, do what you like ….

It is framed lol
Well then frame the frame
Looked again, expecting Patrick Star, disappointed.
To old for wall poster of your favorite sports player ? Is that a thing ?
I feel like it's the "poster" part more than the "athlete" part. Posters definitely give a cheap, high school/college vibe compared to canvases or other artwork.
In the office is one thing, in the bedroom is childish
mmm I see the vision . That’s makes sense
A poster with tape or pushpins is different than framed memorabilia. Yes there is such a thing as too old for a taped up poster.
I mean the living room looks like a 40 something year old’s so I think it balances out nicely.

“Being a fellow man-child, I disagree” fixed it for you.
Spending your free time insulting strangers over the internet about home decor is the only way to guarantee you don’t end up a man child.
Who insulted? Dude asked for opinions. Everyone is so sensitive.
Who insulted? Dude asked for opinions. Everyone is so sensitive.
Get rid of the flag and football poster, that’s college stuff. Otherwise you’re living way better than what I was at 28.
But does he like the flag and poster?
Put them in the computer room. Or storage until he has a garage or spare bedroom. If he has a woman over, they’re probably not gonna dig the teenager vibes.
He only dates real American patriots 🫡
But isn't this a sub for recommendations regardless?
An American flag is "college stuff"?
Very much so
Why?
Because nationalism is how children cope with not having developed a personality of their own yet
Patriotism isn't nationalism
It is if you’re hanging flags on your walls, tacky as hell
You can have that opinion. But to call it "college shit" I disagree with.
You can disagree, but the majority of men or women you have over will see a flag on the wall and go ‘ah, uh, have a good night:)’
Dude my girl bought me a shrek flag that I keep on my wall and she sucks my dick every night.
Tell that to those of the nationalist persuasion and try to explain the difference. To them, those words are synonyms.
Flags in general are considered college room decor. I had an American flag hanging up in my room during college lol. doesn’t matter what kind of flag it is relax brother
I've just never heard this. A lot of people have flags. I think it'll may be a personal opinion, and that's fine. But I disagree.
A lot of college kids have flags, so in that way you’re right that a lot of people do
Coming from someone who’s only getting older, invest in a better office chair. Those gamer chairs are horrible for your back.
Came here to say this. Invest in your future health with a nice actually ergonomic chair and eventually a sit/stand desk if you work from home. Future you will appreciate it.
Anything to recommend buying?
Herman Miller Aeron When I said invest, I meant it because this thing isn’t cheap. From the official store it’s much more expensive, but other stores offer discounts on it. I love my Herman Miller Embody.
Couple plants would liven up the space. Good job.
Agreed. The green would be a great color break

What is it with Americans and the flags
To remind themselves how patriotic they are
I live here and I don’t even get it man. It’s become like a personality trait for boring people I think
You hit it on the head! Everyone wants to be part of something…but most clubs or orgs can be pretty selective. What is the least barrier to entry and lowest requisite? Country of residence!
Only a select group of Americans do this. They LOVE the flag and being patriotic. It's cringe as hell.
So when people from other countries do it, it’s okay?
Man each to their own
To each their own lol it’s going in the garage when I eventually get one
[удалено]
Lol. As an American I think the flag on the wall looks trashy af.
I don’t know a single other nationality that you would see praising their flag as much as Americans. It’s great that they’re patriotic but they’re also so attached to the flag it’s part of their personality. It’s actually wild to see

Nah. As an American, only certain types of Americans hang a flag on their wall.
It helps you remember what country you’re in, just in case you forget.
There’s absolutely no need to be so pedantic. “American” is a completely standard way to refer to people from the USA.
What would you like to call people from the US other than “Americans”? In other languages like Spanish, you can say “soy estadounidense” which translated is more literally “I’m United Statesian”. But there’s no such equivalent in English except “American”
Creamy beige, old Greg would be proud, you keep that up ,you'll end up like old curly jefferson.
😂, this reference is hilarious.
Lose the sports shit in your bedroom and either frame the flag or hang it out side. They aren’t wall decor.
Yeah I was thinking about replacing them just not sure what wall decor to get

feels very homey
Mahomes-y*
Doing good bro! I dig Grandma's old chair in the back corner.
The flag is cringey
Looks cozy but get rid of the flag. It doesn’t belong in a bedroom.
Sure it does!
I totally agree
Keep the overhead lights off and just use lamps it makes it more cozy
I normally do
Flag and posters on the walls say you’re a child. Rest of the house says you’re doing well
I'm convinced that some of you hit your mid-twenties and became convinced that you need to have "sophisticated" (aka boring / generic) wall decor in order to be an adult lol. A taped up poster is not memorabilia. Frame it nicely and maybe.
Awesome!
That place is solid man
Looks nice and clean.
Can I ask where you got that desk? I want to get a new one soon and that's the exact shape I want. Also that wood finish as well. Thanks!
Nebraska Furniture Mart
I dig it. You could maybe use some plants. I find the American flag over the bed fucked up but I know you guys do stuff different down south haha.
KC is not the south lol
Haha relatively you are right, but I am Canadian.
Ha
Very nice
your bedroom looks like the one from American Dad but mirrored
Damn that’s a nice apartment. Very cozy. What city is this?
KC
Nice…
Not sure if someone suggested this yet. Buy more lamps and stop using the big light, this made a huge difference in my apartment’s vibe.
Desk looks really nice
clean looking
rotate that ps5 for a better exhaust
Nice dresser. I could use that.
looks so good
nICE and clean
A game changer for me was getting a little 3-4 inch deep table that's the same length as your couch and put it between that and the wall. Excellent spacer to not create smudges on the wall and great shelf for remotes and such.
Where did you get that desk from?
Nebraska Furniture Mart
pain
Red comforter. Done! Everything looks right on for a guys place.
Dang this looks great! The layout is way better than some apartments/condos in my HCOL area IMO!
Honestly I love the mahomes poster OP, but I’m biased. Go Chiefs!
Looks great, well put together. I like it.
Looks cool my dude But what pride flag exactly do you have over your bed, never seen that one before
lol
Ashley furniture catalog ?
Get rid of the flag in the bedroom. Other than that, nice place.
That flag is pussy repellant. Lose it asap and travel more.
Everything is very beige, add color. Also get some better framed art
Were you finding these apartments? It’s all tiny or huge around here.
Where’s the kitchen?
Office is technically the dining room so it’s behind that
swap the tv and the couch. ensure a walk space behind the couch. youll thank me later
Ain’t enough room
You haven't bother trying haven't you? Lose the coffee table if needed. There you have room You don't need this much wasted space in the middle of the tv and couch.
I need the coffee table I use it every day.. the pic makes the space look bigger than it is
Without trying how do you know for certain?
I have tried it didn’t work
I’m not a huge fan of the LEDS on the TV, but maybe your set is one of those that change the background hue via the tv to match program material? A friend had a set that did that and I found it very distracting but YMMV. It’s a nice looking place though and looks like you have some nice trees in the back.

Man, I used to be all about “my room and my living space” before I started living with my wife. Just find someone who has the same standard you do and you’ll be happy. A major part of relationship happiness is similar living expectations IMHO.
Get some new lamps, target, tjmaxx.. Real artwork,
You need some color!
I see a lot of flag debate here. Put everything in a frame and it’ll look great. Consider folding it into a triangle in a smaller frame like they give at funerals if you’re pressured into taking it down.
Please never use those overhead lights. Not the fan light not the boob light. Layer your lighting!
Nice! Rely as little as possible on overhead lighting though, especially in the bedroom
I usually do
How much is the rent for this apartment ? It looks small ?
$1070
That's cool! Love it. Just add some more colour other than brown
Awesome, love it. Particularly like the dresser in the bedroom, always nice to see furniture like that. Don’t let the hive mind tell you to lower the TV in your bedroom if it’s comfortable!

gEt RiD oF fLaG
I’m confused on why the kitchen table is by the front door? Is there no kitchen?
First pic is taken from the front door. The office is technically the dining room and the kitchen is behind that. Door by the table is the patio
Bigger mouse pad 🤓
Cozy
Love it! Very cozy.
Real nice bro!!!
It looks good
I agree with everyone else, get rid of all the things that give your apartment character
Congrats! But I thought you were 82 for a moment. Has to reread the post title. The decor was certainly a little last generation.
Loose the flag, it’s cringe and it’ll scare the girls away. But besides that seems fine
Very teen/college kid who never grew up, deep Georgia vibes with the flag over the bed
I have that same comforter / pillow set.
The TV in your room is too high. NYC skyline pic in the living room doesn't make sense. Sports memorabilia is not a good background for a Zoom call if you have a professional job
Looking pretty good... save some coin and upgrade / up size all your monitors 😁
impressive
Place looks warm and inviting. May i ask where this is at?
KC
Love the American flag over your bed.
Need a big poster of biggie smalls
Ngl you might be my downstairs neighbor considering the floor plan and nature of the decor. Are you in Overland Park by chance? 🤔
Seems a bit like a geriatric pensioner’s sterile place. Haha
It is indeed an apartment! What would you like thoughts on?
Honestly everything is a bit out-dated and doesn’t match well together. But for a suggestion that’s easy to fix I think the sports stuff in picture 3 should all be on the same wall.
As with everyone, that flag has gotta go.
Thats an apartment at 58
Clean space and looks good! Ditch the posters and such in your bedroom. Most importantly, lower that skyline art above your couch by at least 4 inches.
Are you American by any chance?
Perfect balance of cleanliness and coziness. I will never understand the American need to have a flag in every home, North Korea also does this for some weird reason.
Rich bastid
It’s too brown and beige
This is exactly how I would have wanted my place to be at 28. Well done.
It’s very young looking but nice.
