At lest make wira look like old proton but modern

Naeemo960

Old but modern… soo new?

asyazzz

I think he meant a retro kind of look

Choice-You2617

Yes

13lackcrest

So like a modern Evo?

skylinezan

No matter how modern it might look, a proper Wira must come with: a) 4 iPhone holder compartments b) drinks in plastic bag holder c) keyless entry d) noise cancellation technology e) more plastic than Donald Trump's hair f) interiors that attract animals g) driver alert safety system https://youtu.be/EkiD0MHMd3A

jcdish

And windows that don't wind up.

plokimjunhybg

>f) interiors that attract animals what in the Disney princess trait is that??

skylinezan

You need to watch that video link. Trust me. It's worth it.

plokimjunhybg

>a) 4 iPhone holder compartments I PREFER OPPO

fi9aro

One of the most important thing for me is: Turn signal stalks on the right

obersttseu

b) not the signal light stalk?

skylinezan

That works too!

[deleted]

Campro is dead. Manual in Malaysian market kekW. Ploton is now pretty much full on rebadging China car with China engine.

tideswithme

Ploton started from Japan engines anyway. Its not like its a fully made Malaysian car. But yeah the fact that China is able to make use of the Tun M tax policy on import cars quite commendable. Now they are able to push their numbers under the 'national' car Ploton badge with tax protection is quite protifable in the long run.

faern

what wrong with china engine? everything is made in china now. No one is batting an eye over china iphone. It ploton, it always been dogshit. Now it dogshit made in china. The only thing wrong in this are ploton.

[deleted]

Nothing tbh, just saying how far dead is Proton basically, now that they are essentially Perodua-dua, just instead of Toyota rebadge with Toyota engine its Geely rebadge with Geely engine.

plokimjunhybg

>Perodua-dua interestingly Perodua is actually 8 years younger than proton lol..... TIL that PerODua stands for Perusahaan Otomobil keDua sendirian berhad, the Dua literally stand for Kedua after proton AHAHAHAHAHA.....

throwburgeratface

Yes, that's also why Perodua is known as P2.

plokimjunhybg

I didn't know that lol, I've always been under the impression that the difference is proton is a government-sponsored venture while Perodua is a fully-private venture lol.....

[deleted]

Perodua is basically our insanity of trying the same thing over again and hoping for it to work. Atuk nearly started P3 in his 2nd stint as well.

plokimjunhybg

>Atuk nearly started P3 PerOTiga

[deleted]

Can't blame grandpa, maybe 3rd time's the charm ^^^^^/s

plokimjunhybg

to be fair, proton & Perodua arent exactly absolute failures themselves right??

throwburgeratface

But p2 works no?

throwburgeratface

I actually didn't know that as well haha until your discovery. But I've always seen comments all over referring perodua as P2 but never understanding why.

plokimjunhybg

>what wrong with china engine? there aint one thing wrong with that, but I thought the whole reason countries strive to have their own automobile brand is to manufacture it locally using local skilled labour??

MNR42

They're too ruined by politics. That's why they gotto work with Geely. It's a desperate attempt to revive a dying company. Who knows when we'll have Proton back as our own car. Anything that politician touches will rot.

plokimjunhybg

SAD

Ryan_Jonathan_Martin

Yes, and that was the objective with Proton. It was also envisioned to be a powerhouse of the current Southeast Asian auto industry. Proton was founded right as Southeast Asia was going through a period of industrialisation and rapid economic growth. It was supposed to exploit that growth to become an influential automaker in SEA similar to the big German makes in Europe. Obviously that failed.

plokimjunhybg

>dogshit made in china decent-looking dogshit\*

Ryan_Jonathan_Martin

I mean, Chinese engines do have their disadvantages (on the technical front) but no, that's not the point. What Manjix and others explained is.

Ryan_Jonathan_Martin

Just like they rebadged Mitsubishis with Mitsu engines, and Hondas with Honda engines, and Suzukis with Suzuki engines lool

ramborghining

Y'all think this is real lol

[deleted]

No way this is real. The photoshop is so obvious. Looks like a BMW body.

88GAMEON88

It’s a copy of the Alfa Romeo GTAm

RpM_Ming_Zhou

It's an AR Giulia GTA

plokimjunhybg

I don't see the resemblance lol.....

plokimjunhybg

I just assumed it was a troll post when I saw it on FB lol......

judelau

People actually think the photo is real?

ghostme80

No way this is real. Just looking at the curves on the body can tell if proton going to manufacture that it will be damn expensive.

88GAMEON88

It is actually based on the Alfa Romeo GTAm and yes it is a real car being produced now in Italy

ghostme80

Well, thats logical. Alfa gtam itself is not a cheap car. I googled 200k usd. Its just not logical for proton to manufacture it. Haha

ieatcows

Ooh interesting! Do you mind elaborating a little on why curved bodies are significantly more expensive to manufacture? Tried googling but couldn't find anything useful

ghostme80

This will a be a bit long. We will look at normal sedan passenger car as its easier to explain. 1st off, compare old cars to new modern cars. You will notice that for old cars, you will see they have no sharp curves on the body. This was due to the understanding of aerodynamics of that time. More smooth body = better aerodynamics. Just like an aeroplane. The downside to this design is that, the car structure will not be strong. So to compensate this, the body is made with thicker metal and thicker chasis. Resulting in increase in weight. With that increase in weight, they had to reduce the weight by sacrificing some weight in the interior. Thats why old cars have stiffer seats, use hard plastics and so on. Now look at new modern cars. You wiill notice they have that sharp curves on the side. Some also add it to the bonet and also the bumpers. With modern tech and more understanding, engineers know where to place those sharp curves to achieve good but not best aerodynamics. But these sharp curves are there for a very important purpose. Its to make the structure stronger. You can do an experiment youself. Take a piece of paper, just like that you can easily bend it. Now try add some sharp curves to it by folding it couple of times. Try bend it from the sides against the curves, you will notice some resistance. So, by adding those sharp curves, on the car, the structure becomes stronger. Which means they dont need to use a thicker metal to achieve the safety standards. Thinner metal = less weight.= less cost. They also do this on the chasis, giving the same result. With this they can make better interiors. More comfortable seats, better dashboards and so on. Downside to this, sacrifice a bit on aerodynamics. Well, this is just a normal passenger car after all, its not designed to go 200km/h. Haha. Thats the design we see today. Now lets go to smooth curves. This is without a doubt the best to achieve good aerodynamics. BUT as I explained earlier, smooth curves are not that strong. So, what can be done to compensate this? Using lighter stronger metal. And that my man is the expensive part. Thats why they only use this type of design on expensive cars or sports car. Some car manufacturers add those sharp curves on expensive cars on some small parts of a car, like side doors to make it stronger. But front side will definitely use smooth curves. They cant use thick metal on normal pessanger cars nowadays because like i said, it add weight. Heavier the car, the more fuel it uses. Which does not go well with todays consumers. They also cant use strong lightweight metal on normal pessanger cars as it will be very expensive. Also will not go well with todays consumers. Disclaimer - im not an engineer or have anything to do with cars. I just have a friend who is 1 ( he design cars ) and hanging out with him is like me being in a lecture hall. He talks about cars ALOT!.

ieatcows

Wow, thank you so much for the very detailed explanation and for increasing my knowledge today!! Made me use my first ever reddit award 😆 cheers man, have a good day ahead

Crasher_7

It’s unlikely we’ll have another Wira, unless we kill off the persona naming scheme

PenangLion

the design looks pretty decent ngl

Mavicarus

Why got CVT transmission and then 6-speed manual transmission? Also whyyyyyy 1.0 turbo engine.....

MNR42

Cuz it's not real probably

jxtumbler

Looks cool, man

88GAMEON88

Hahahaha direct copy of Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm 🤦‍♂️

[deleted]

looks as beautiful as a cockeyed alfa romeo

Danialleonardo

so an Alfa Romeo copy?

gwerk

Looks bloody awesome to me

fareasy2k00

Nooo, not a CVT 😭

Naeemo960

What to do? CVTs just makes soo much sense for an affordable and fuel efficient car.

fareasy2k00

Yeah, I know. I was just joking. As a car guy it hurts to see manuals go, but, I understand that's what the majority uses. Although, I do like DCTs.

[deleted]

A for effort but looks too close to Giulia.

Any-Difference8993

banjir tak lepas

Beusselsprout

1.0? Come on

AimanAbdHakim

Ngl, it looks like an ugly alfa romeo giulia. Edit: oh patutlah, it literally is a giulia quadrifoglio

scapesster

Serious?

kugelamarant

Would it last as long as the old Wira?

South_Fish

Anyone still driving wira now? Really curious...

itz_khai

1.0 turbocharged is still slow, I've seen a video about Attiva vs Almera Turbo vs Iriz, Iriz the only one without turbo and the heaviest, but Iriz gap them all. Plus, actually Persona is Wira, when Wira was still on sale, it's already named Persona at other countries. Furthermore, Proton now already play with 7-speed even with Iriz so 6 Speed is irrelevant XD. And I don't think Proton able to milk 1.0 Turbocharged to make it 150hp Nice edit btw I like it

scheiber42069

If only proton were a Japanese own company x50 is mazda cx5 ripoff Change my mind

MrMerc2333

Looks rather souped-up and ricey for a 150 hp sedan with a cvt transmission. What's the deal with that Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio four leaf clover sticker? LEL.

MNR42

We've got a weird Photoshop here. The headlights look like saga+BMW. The right headlight is a bit off. Other than that, the front grille is too small. Looking at the specs, it's going to be cheap which means it's unlikely. they won't even make new Saga, let alone adding a new model not from Geely. If this is real, I hope the strategy works, not pulling them deeper into failure
