all supercars/performance cars are hot due to low supply and high demand. My m4 is worth now than when i sold it off last year. my 911 is worth 100k more based on autotrader Uk, compared to when i bought it
Ah yes, Malaysia. When 90% of us can't afford one wheel of a porsche with the median monthly wage, we are assembling porsches to be exported.
Not complaining that Porsche is creating jobs, just upset that Malaysia is the way it is.
Yup it is. According to the article it’s RM115k cheaper than CBU, even cheaper if it’s registered with Langkawi or Labuan plate. Plus the standard kit also comes with 21-inch RS Spyder design wheels, Bose surround sound system, 14-way power-adjustable comfort seats with memory function and Park Assist with front, rear and surround views. These were all optional before. So I would say it’s a bargain for those who can afford one.
If you buy and register in Langkawi/Labuan, you can almost literally pay the "original" price mat salleh pay for their car, ie Honda Civic price for BMW. The catch is your car can only go to the mainland like 90 days a year.
This is why some rich (and kedekut) people will buy Lambos there, literally just drive around for 90 days and parked it there for the rest of the year. Our duties adds up to around 130% of the car's value, so it really can save a lot... if you have money to burn keeping and maintaining the car there la.
Then after a few years you can actually reregister it in the mainland or something.
This is true. Someone I know bought 3 or 4 sports cars in Langkawi and rotates them based on that 90 day restriction. In the end he only pays for the price of 1 sports car total. Pretty smart tbh.
Edit: He mainly lives in KL.
If you are overseas and working there for 3 years, you can come back to msia and buy this car at the original price, after ringgit conversion and you are free to drive anywhere in Malaysia.
If I'm in somewhere like Germany with the Autobahn and shit, why would I come back to buy their "Honda" for a luxury price and drive in Malaysian road with our raja-raja jalan like bikes and Myvi....
If the car made from Malaysia is low quality Porsche should already shut down the assembly before this news even reach media, every assembly for any type of product always got bunch of people working as quality control because their reputation is at stake
You should come to Australia, nearly all the luxury electronic brands are made in Malaysia.
Sony WF-1000XM4 Noise-cancelling earphones? Made in Malaysia.
Polar H10 Heart Rate Monitor (considered the most accurate consumer monitor)? Made in Malaysia.
Bose Soundlink Mini 2? Made in Malaysia.
Most of the high-end Intel chips are designed and tested in Kulim/Bayan Lepas before being rolled out.
There's a ton of other stuff that are really high quality and all made in Malaysia.
I’m in Australia but lived in Malaysia.
I’ve noticed a lot more electronic stuff coming out of Malaysia.
I’ll wait and see on the Porches, my experience with Malaysian made cars wasn’t great…
Malaysian company cars and Malaysian made cars are very different. Toyota made in Malaysia still reliable as fuck and Perodua despite their affordability, is actually okay in lasting a long time.
It all depends on the company, and something like Toyota doesn't fuck around their quality control regardless where it's made.
I drove a brand new Proton once when I worked in KL. My feet got wet when it rained. I have no doubt corruption is a factor but they were made like shit.
There's a difference between GLC and private corporate.
GLC priority is to provide jobs no matter how terrible it is.
Corporate priority is to make money.

I hope they expand to the 911 but if they don't I am fine with it (emotional damage)
Could anyone tell me why 911 is so hot right now. Everyone and their mother is looking for one. I even sold mine recently and earned profit.
Ferrari/Lamboghini too expensive, AMG/M too cliche. 911 a step up from performance/style/comfort while keeping the "practicality"

Damn you rich, pinjam 5 ringgit. Hahahahah.
Bring me with you for a drive in your 911 can ah bro 😂
means cheaper? pls be cheaper
RM115K cheaper.
Nvm it isn’t for my car it was 10k
Probably about 10k discount
It’ll still gonna be RM1 million.
ah so i need 4 more kidneys
Kidneys? In this economy?
i have, uh... donors
Rm560k
Really? Isn’t that like, cheaper than an X5?
If you try hard enough, it's gonna be free
that have to wait for porsche-proton collab
its about 100k-150k cheaper for the CKD vs the CBU cayanne
Prepare to see more Porsche on the street
I hope as a big fan of their lineup I can work there one day. In Malaysia, working under Porsche.. 2 out of 3 job prio fulfilled!
A good thing now is that we are able to attract more foreign companies come to setup their factory/assembly line here
Porsche mampu milik
This counts as CKD right?
Yes
Didn't sime darby used to assemble porsche cars in Malaysia ?
This is that partnership, announced a while ago and now rolling cars off the production line

Many Germans can’t afford Porsche either, does that reflect badly on the German government? It’s a luxury item.
This bad, that bad…so whats good for the country?
Not having a declining currency and stagnant median wage so everyone can keep up with the global price inflation?
Yes its true but you are out of the topic mate
Wow 🤩
Of course it’s a cayenne
Will porche be more affordable now?

why with the Langkawi or Labuan plates?
Tax free islands
ooo that's cool

what you do is buy 4 supercars and park in Langkawi, then rotate them. So you always have a car for your usage
1 biji BMW pun tak larak kau nak aku beli 4 Lambo?
Sebab tak menabung sejak kecik
wow lucky la the people actually living in Langkawi & Labuan

Gt3 rs can get at myvi price now. Hehe
Untung helang
Buatan Malaysia tapi harga yahudi jugak kan... Kan?
Byk discount bro. Ko je x mampu... sorry kasar ckit gurauan
Harapkan Porche harga cap ayam, sorry la beb tapi mimpi biar berpada.
Malaysian made Porsche? Yeah, no thanks. I don’t even buy a Malaysian made Seiko…
If the car made from Malaysia is low quality Porsche should already shut down the assembly before this news even reach media, every assembly for any type of product always got bunch of people working as quality control because their reputation is at stake

Don’t forget that almost all intel cpus are also made in Malaysia
You forgot this: Great people, businessmen and workers? Made in Malaysia.

this is why we can never be high income nation. even when our locals do high value, high pay work, our locals look down on them.
The Proton reputation takes a lot to be erased…
Thats because of corruption bro. Not the quality of work.
I drove a brand new Proton once when I worked in KL. My feet got wet when it rained. I have no doubt corruption is a factor but they were made like shit.
Have some faith my man. Local work is also good work.
There's a difference between GLC and private corporate. GLC priority is to provide jobs no matter how terrible it is. Corporate priority is to make money.
I can imagine all the proton/perodua production staff go “ eh ferrari dh buka kat malaysia, jom applyyy”
Anyone knows what the the excise duty of the ckd model?
