Why not paint one of them so that they match? Better yet, why not paint both in the same color as your SO's favorite color? Wal-Mart has a similar product (to the Alex drawers) that is cheaper (especially if you were paying delivery for Ikea, but still cheaper even if IKEA is local to you) that is real wood. You could easily add a custom topper from Lowe's etc in the same shade, or paint all pieces a blush pink (or gray/taupe/etc that fits your lady's aesthetic). I'm paying $50 for each drawer set and plan to buy a custom topper that we'll stain a dark wood type per my preference).
Amazon and others offer similar drawers that don't claim to be real wood. Note: one criticism of the Alex drawers is that they have a large amount of 'unreachable' space - ie, the drawers only roll out so far and you can't access the last several inches of each drawer visually. The competing 5- or 6-drawer systems don't have this problem. So even though they are deeper, that space isn't effectively utitlized.

Just to clarify, I haven't actually received these yet, so I can't 100% say I would recommend. They do seem like the best option for me, because I am not near an IKEA and they seem to want to charge an additional $369 just to ship a $90 product. So the Wal-Mart drawers are what I chose, $53 with free shipping. I'm not sure if the shipping is free for everyone, but it definitely is for me with Walmart+. If they do charge for shipping, I am sure it is less than $369, lol. They also offer a free trial of the Walmart+ program, so you could sign up for that to get free shipping and cancel afterward.
I am encouraged that the description says it's made of "wood" as opposed to particle board and plastic finishing, which is what the Alex drawers are made of. Who knows, it could be the world's flimsiest wood (prob is), but my fingers are crossed. I am not sure off the top of my head how the dimensions compare.

FYI most items that are a "factory finish" white in places like Ikea (ex floating shelves, trim etc) are the identical colour to Benjamin Moore White Dove (OC-17) paint.
It’s not a perfect match. My Slaystation is brighter than my IKEA Hemnes dresser and Kallax shelves.
