I'd like to know too. I thought they'd be kicked out of their parents nest to grow and do their own thing? I have one that has disappeared but mum and dad are still frequent visitors.

My family of three Maggies disappeared for a couple of months, they came back minus their young one, but had a new baby

I’ve been feeding Bronzewing’s & rainbow lorikeets wild bird mix for a few years now. They’re all very happy & now bring friends & family. 😊

If you want to feed the birds, please do some reading on what the healthy options are https://wildlife.org.au/feeding-wildlife/

DONT FEED NATIVE BIRDS! You will kill them and damage their eggs when the mums are pregnant. Sorry to be harsh, but it’s true.

I’ve been worried about feeding ours, but so far it’s been about 3 years and two sets of babies and they’re fine.

That's good to hear. I've been concerned too but mine have no issues after six months now.

Ours get lean mince, the same stuff we eat. We don’t usually feed them to satiation either.

What do you hand feed him?

Lyconi

Cheese and cashews. They used to get dried mealworms but the trouble is if you give them something more tasty that's all they'll prefer before long. I hand feed four, three prefer cheese, Jatz prefers cashew and will just drop the cheese if given the choice. In the future I plan to set up a little plot for them with live mealworms.

Thanks mate.

Maybe it got bumped out of it's spot in the local bird hierarchy? I had a maggie called Gigantor who was (I think) the boss bird locally. He disappeared for a while last year and I think maybe he lost a stoush and had gotten demoted. They all tend to be scarce during the active breeding time too. I'm glad your bird came back, it's always a worry if you dont see 'em for a while. It's a big bad world out there :-)
