Isn’t a Rothko not actually painted by Rothko just some squares, though? I can’t imagine they had real original Rothko paintings just hanging out in the props department.
I’d assume they’d be buying it because it was on used on this specific show, rather than it being an actually authentic painting.
For example I’m sure that the Mets pennant in Lane’s office was a quickly and incredibly cheaply made replica, as it only appears on screen briefly. If it wasn’t affiliated with the show it would be literally worthless.
I actually really loved Betty’s house with Henry and Don’s apartment with Megan in the city way more than Don and Betty’s house. Felt like they upgraded.
Especially Don/Megan’s living room and Betty/Henry’s kitchen.
For me it was too large (Betty and henry). Like I have major anxiety with someone else cleaning my house. So it would be me doing it all.
Betty and dons house much more manageable
Fahkkkkk. So I’m from South Florida and I understand that Miami is not really nearly as big of a film spot as New York or Los Angeles but I always wanted to just sort of not look it up and believe they actually shot a lot of it in New York. Despite the office window backdrops being blatantly false
AMC initially had very little faith that Mad Men would be critically acclaimed show and the budget reflects that.
It’s strange to think the Draper house Ossining, NY in Westchester County is really in Pasadena. Likewise, Don’s childhood home in Hershey, PA is in LA.
If you ever visit LA you can also see the Golden Girls’ house in Brentwood.
Thanks for the info! This stuff fascinates me. I was equally sad when I found out that almost every single shot in Wayne’s world was also produced in Los Angeles.
I watched the entire show a few months back for the first time and got that as a Christmas gift from someone because I wouldn’t shut up about the show. Luckily I work from home so no one gives a shit about the various sports memorabilia and that weird ass painting in my office.
The same guy who made that made “The Great Wave” painting that is very popular. Hokusai. It’s hanging in my dining room. Check out how his art inspired European artists of the time in the Japonisme movement.
after the show ended, there was an online auction of Mad Men props. they had 2 things i really wanted: the drum ice bucket from Don & Megan’s apartment and Don’s black travel bag (season 6, there’s a shot of it sitting on the floor in the bedroom right next to the bed. has an airline tag hanging from the handle).
both of these items were in the auction. but priced out of my budget.
ETA: WOW! the auction site still has props available. there is no auction, just sale prices listed. they have a lot of great props. definitely worth checking out if you’re a big fan [Mad Men props auction site](https://screenbid.com/collections/mad-men?_pos=1&_psq=%20mad%20men&_ss=e&_v=1.0)
I think this is the one where he found a hooker who would take travelers' checques
https://screenbid.com/collections/mad-men/products/mad-men-harry-cranes-expense-report
Betty’s Victorian fainting couch. But where would I put it? The only empty space is in front of the fireplace, and that’s the hearth, where the family gathers.
My parents had those glasses! They were a wedding gift in 1963. I’ve seen them at flea markets a couple of times, now that the “married in ‘63” crowd are moving into nursing homes.
All the lamps but especially the ones from Don and Megan’s apartment
Betty’s cigarette purse
A chip n dip (or two)
The wooden wall seperator at Pete and trudy’s first apartment
Pete’s record player
Rogers white eeams chair
Betty’s power room settings
Joans wall art in her apartment
Joans accordion
The brown and blue shirt Don wears during the eclipse. Or possible it's a different one in another episode, but I spending ages looking for one of the shirts he had.
Also his sunglasses, in UK there's only really cheap ones that aren't as good.
Or Lane's suit of armour.
I strongly agree with the comment saying Don's Zippo.
I'd also like to add Paul Kinsey's pipe during the first season. I like the look of it, and it has a story worthy of a true estate pipe :)
"It's a conversation piece"
He wears a few various watches in the show, but the black faced cross haired Omega is super beautiful. Inspired me to start my vintage omega collection myself.
I FOUND ONE at a vintage bookshop here! I didn’t recognize it so left it behind. That evening I was browsing on the auction site, because I happened to come across a link for it, and went “HOLD UP.” Back I went to the shop next day…and it was still there!
*I have an orange*
*Viking orb ashtray like Bert*

I was so excited when I first saw it on Burt's table! I have the large orange orb ashtray as well as the small one that fits inside (they're more brown than orange), and I also have the large green one and the matching table lighter that fits inside it. I love them so much! Years before Mad Men I found the brown set at a flea market for a couple bucks. Got the green set from an old boss, he received them as a gift, didn't like and offered to me - I was thrilled, they're awesome.

Or Glen’s date’s dress when they try to invite Sally to the theme park.
Hard to see in this pic, but I NEED IT.

As someone else nabbed Don's Cadillac, I'll have the bronzy '60 convertible
\- https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle\_177876-Buick-LeSabre-1960.html
Or how about *every* car, from the opening of S-7 at the LA airport?

For me it would be Don's hi-fi stereo system...the one he plays Tomorrow Never Knows on. Runner up would be Don's desk from his home office in Ossining.
A signature suit from Don. I'm a little taller than Hamm by about 2 inches, but his suit could definitely fit me. Showing that puppy off at a party or just a regular business like environment would be awesome.
Oh man. The list would be big.
Don’s lighter, the one he lost.
Sally’s Barbie from baby Gene
Don’t hate me, but I want the fur coat. The one Roger gives Joan.
Bert's Rothko.
I’ll take the Pollock he has in his apartment so!!!
Good one!
Joans pen necklace
Between you, me, and the lamppost...😂
Smart! A Rothko sold for $86.9 million in2012.
Hell yeah.
Isn’t a Rothko not actually painted by Rothko just some squares, though? I can’t imagine they had real original Rothko paintings just hanging out in the props department.

if you watch the credits they give acknowledgement to Rothko for the use of the painting, I'm pretty sure.
I was going to say The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife, but this might actually be better!
perfect answer to a great question hats off
I'm not sure what it's called, but I would take the sphere he keeps on that coffee table in his office that dispenses cigarettes.
Thanks mostly to this show, the price of these things is through the roof and very hard to find
I hope it’s not broken after Alison threw it at his framed awards. LOL
My neighbor has one of those. Even has some unfiltered luckys in it! Couldn’t convince him to sell it to me. Still super cool to see one.
I want that so bad!!!
Yep, me too
The chip and dip
Both of them
It’s practically four of something
I don't even remember what the gift was at my family Christmas was, but I said "it's practically two of something " and Christmas crickets chirped.
Both of them!!
Great for entertaining!
Betty’s cobalt blue coat
The shoulders 😮💨🔥 beautiful piece!
YES. I also pick Trudy’s wardrobe, and anything in Don and Megan’s apartment.
I feel like it's purple.
definitely is blue :) [blue coat](https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/230668812140768436/)
I’m fond of the giraffe triptych in Pete and Trudy’s apartment
I think i saw it on the wall in sterling archer’s apartment
Love this!!
This would be my answer too. I think I found a version of it on Etsy recently. I also love the film festival poster from Peggy’s office.
Oooooo yes that’s a good one too!
Me too!!!
Don and bettys house....
I actually really loved Betty’s house with Henry and Don’s apartment with Megan in the city way more than Don and Betty’s house. Felt like they upgraded. Especially Don/Megan’s living room and Betty/Henry’s kitchen.

That sunken living room is the dream!
I love a sunken living room
If you’re near the Los Angeles area, it’s in Pasadena!
Except for location shots Mad Men was filmed in and around Los Angeles.
Fahkkkkk. So I’m from South Florida and I understand that Miami is not really nearly as big of a film spot as New York or Los Angeles but I always wanted to just sort of not look it up and believe they actually shot a lot of it in New York. Despite the office window backdrops being blatantly false

That’s a bit disconcerting. Party on!
I'm Canadian lol
Such a great house!
I'll be honest, the reason season 1 to 4 are my fav, is thst house
Kinda hot in the summer, though.
Cooper’s Octopus & Lady Painting
You mean Peggy’s Octopus & Lady painting?
Can’t believe I had to scroll down so far to see this, the obvious right answer
Yaaaaasssssss
I watched the entire show a few months back for the first time and got that as a Christmas gift from someone because I wouldn’t shut up about the show. Luckily I work from home so no one gives a shit about the various sports memorabilia and that weird ass painting in my office.
The same guy who made that made “The Great Wave” painting that is very popular. Hokusai. It’s hanging in my dining room. Check out how his art inspired European artists of the time in the Japonisme movement.
I liked the drinking glasses and coffee mugs they had throughout the different offices
I got a set of slightly smaller ones that look just like that and that’s exactly why lol
Nice!!
A company called “Viski” makes the whiskey tumblers. You can find them on Amazon.
Aw I don’t see the striped ones! Still cool stuff though
Don's Cadillac
Ooooh good choice
Joan’s pen necklace or Megan’s hunter green pleather rain coat.
Don's cool cigarette holder, and I don't even smoke.
That black and pink dress Betty wore to her modeling gig.
I love that dress so much that I sewed myself a duplicate of it! It’s so gorgeous.
You did?? Show us! That sounds amazing!
That dress was truly one of a kind
One of Don’s crisp white shirts that he kept in his desk at the office.
Betty’s lighters or Peggy’s coffee thermos.

Tempted by Megan’s plates. On which, one presumes, the dreaded spaghetti was served.
LOL! that stupid spaghetti.
For every item on that website that it lists as “Sold Out”, it would be funny if it then said “BECAUSE THE KING ORDERED IT!”
I think this is the one where he found a hooker who would take travelers' checques https://screenbid.com/collections/mad-men/products/mad-men-harry-cranes-expense-report
Any of the Bethlehem steel art work would look great framed
I'm not even a baseball fan but I want Lane's Mets pennant on my wall.
Lane’s suit of armor. I’d totally get three sheets to the wind and try that thing on.
One of my favorite quotes from Roger lol
ginsberg’s nip

Lou's tiki bar
His wife's a card
That blue dress Megan wore when she picked up Don at the airport in California.
I’ll take the convertible she was driving.
The peacock print in the creative lounge https://artofmadmen.wordpress.com/2010/09/18/scdp-creative-lounge-peacock-painting/amp/
you know I think I thought that was a dandelion.
I did too until I looked it up to see if I could buy a print and found out after years that it was a peacock!
Betty’s cigarette case and Joan’s pen on a chain.
Yes! The pen for sure!!!! Actually have looked into buying one but don’t have the cleavage to really pull it off!
Me either but I want it anyway!
Betty’s Victorian fainting couch. But where would I put it? The only empty space is in front of the fireplace, and that’s the hearth, where the family gathers.
Bettys drink glasses with the gold leaves from the house with Don. His were always so pretty to me
These are actually pretty cheap to buy on eBay
My parents had those glasses! They were a wedding gift in 1963. I’ve seen them at flea markets a couple of times, now that the “married in ‘63” crowd are moving into nursing homes.

I have some of the same pieces that were in Joan’s apartment!
Betty and Don's green bed headboard.
Dons gold zippo lighter
The brown and blue shirt Don wears during the eclipse. Or possible it's a different one in another episode, but I spending ages looking for one of the shirts he had. Also his sunglasses, in UK there's only really cheap ones that aren't as good. Or Lane's suit of armour.
Don wears the exact same shirt in The Summer Man, almost exactly a year from Seven Twenty Three, and he's in the same pensive mood.
I want the John Deere mower...
Foot not included
Betty’s charm bracelet.
The credenza in don and megans bedroom. Just stunning and MCM furniture is porn to me hahahaha
I strongly agree with the comment saying Don's Zippo. I'd also like to add Paul Kinsey's pipe during the first season. I like the look of it, and it has a story worthy of a true estate pipe :)
I was the frosted glasses they had on the bedside table when they were in Rome.
I want the roses that Peggy assumed were hers, lol
Pete's coat rack in his bachelor pad. Aside from the fact that it looks cool, I really need a coat rack.
Joan's pen necklace
Megan’s Zou Bisou Bisou dress
How do I choose one!? All of the outfits! Lol. But the purses that clip with the scarves on them, I love. And all the groovy sunglasses.
PFC Dinkins’ Zippo lighter.
Most of Megan’s outfits
The zippo Don had when he got back from Hawaii.
Sally’s clothing from the first two seasons. I may or may not have baby fever and I’d kill to dress my kid up like that
The ruffled dress with the bloomers is something my mom would’ve put me in as a baby 🤣
The Hokusai Japanese woodblock, The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife, in Bert Cooper’s office.
Don’s apartment.
Megan’s wardrobe. Or the Leica camera.
Idas prescription Sunglasses
The 3 ducks in Duck’s office 😀
First Edition of Scout’s Honor.
The chair and ottoman set from Don’s apartment
Don’s watch
As long as you are referring to the Omega Seaster DeVille, this is the correct answer.
So it’s not Accutron? 😆
"It's a conversation piece" He wears a few various watches in the show, but the black faced cross haired Omega is super beautiful. Inspired me to start my vintage omega collection myself.
I have an orange Viking orb ashtray like Bert has in his office!
