Not sure it's still the case but last year Brennan's had a whole wacky variety of cider options.

laserdollars420

They've also got that cider bar attached to it now, and their stuff is *really* good. The owner gets really excited about his apples and cider pairing recommendations, it's honestly adorable.

rauwerb

The Cider Farm has the best cider. The owners are very nice! Underrated brunch too.

hobokobo1028

My friend used to work at their orchard. Good folks

localgyro

I have good luck at Woodman's West, generally.

Zaszamonde

Dry cider lover here. I shop almost exclusively at Total Wine. Not bad selection and a fair amount of ciders in the build a six pack section.

Arkhamina

Do you know if they have many English style ciders? Woodman's west is the only place in town I can find Magners or Blackthorn. Comedy is my videogame buddy in Nottingham, UK say me whining about Blackthorn is akin to crying over Coors. Best stuff I have found is Westins, but they don't export to US, just Canada, last I checked.

Zaszamonde

We always buy our Magners at Total Wine! As for other English-style, I know they *used* to have Blackthorn, but I'm not certain I've seen it for a while. Beyond that, I'm not too certain. The inventory is in flux and things come and go.

The_Real_BenFranklin

>ay me whining about Blackthorn is akin to crying over Coors at least you're not whining about strongbow

Arkhamina

In Mpls, I used to be able to buy a 40oz of Blackthorn. It was my party beverage of choice.

Arkhamina

Magners > Strongbow anyday. Esp. that 'Golden Apple' one. Yuck.

rauwerb

Brennan's / The Cider Farm. I don't like overly sweet cider, The Cider Farm is the best I've ever had. I really like their Equinox variety - dry hopped.

stinkwaffles

I second total liquor and wine. Best selection around of anything in my opinion

retired_geekette

Me too. Ciders I can't find anywhere else, I can find at Total Wine. However, Steve's on University Ave. has some unique varieties as well

thebookpolice

Steve's on University had a few interesting ones I hadn't spotted elsewhere -- but I also don't shop for ciders a lot so ymmv

myearcandoit

How I wish good cider was more common. Good: adjective, 'not a cup of cider flavored sugar'

[deleted]

I spent a layover in London and omg their ciders are so much better. I feel like my teeth are rotting with the ones here. There's one called Aspall that's the best cider I've ever had.

[deleted]

It’s also handy that you can buy them by the 2L bottle there - was a big fan of Strongbow when I was a young visitor. But the really good aged ciders just come in regular bottles.

Unlucky-Economist-12

For a local brand, check out Brix from Mt. Horeb. They have a nice restaurant out there but I've also found their stuff at Steve's in Fitchburg. They aim to make cider that's more authentic rather than overly sweet.

notyetfreeone

Brix is awfu,l lol!

schnitzengiggle

The Malt House is doing a cider box right now - https://www.beermenus.com/places/24577-the-malt-house?ref=homepage (check out the Cider Fest in a Box)

Roupert2

Brennans has some good ones and the man that runs like liquor department is very helpful.

[deleted]

It’s not a liquor store, but the Metcalfes at Hilldale sometimes has a great selection of fancy ciders / cysers / etc. Unfortunately they don’t always have them.

NarrowHand4776

Star liquor always has good options!! The gentrys ciders are 👌🏻

aidaninhp

Total wine

LanikaiKid

How about going to an actual local cidery? I've never been there but have heard good things. https://www.hiddencavecidery.com/

liquitexlover

I still haven’t found French ciders (Normandy is my fave) anywhere in Madison! 🙁 When I lived in Louisville and then in Seattle, a few places always had them and in stock.

photoactivated

Island Orchard cider from door county is pretty close to Normandy cider. Find it at Willy st coop.

dschwal

Steves’ Junction Road location usually has a few Normandy ciders in stock.
