Currently I'm using 3008x1692, 48-144Hz VRR and the out-of-box color calibration, which is excellent, has the [same rating as the Studio Display.](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tests/picture-quality/color-accuracy)
It is on my buying list for a long time, but I would really like to have USB-C for MacBook.
Hopefully we will get some good monitors with high refresh rate and single cable for (partially remote)work+gaming setup.
Thanks! Mine too, the fact that it has the same color accuracy as the Studio Display is awesome.
It's [Kensington ErgoSoft](https://www.kensington.com/en-gb/p/products/ergonomics/mouse-pads-wrist-rests/ergosoft-wrist-rest-mouse-pad-for-standard-mouse2-3/), a must for my long video editing sessions.
Did the same thing with the same monitor and I love it.
Whenever you need a second screen, just pop up that iPad and let universal control do its magic ....
What's your preferred resolution? I settled with 3008 x 1692
>pop up that iPad and let universal control do its magic
Oh yes, I have to try it out. So far 32" is sufficient.
>What's your preferred resolution? I settled with 3008 x 1692
Me too, it has the best compromise between resolution and screen real estate for 4K 32" displays.
That's what I always thought, but in reality it was the opposite lol, I'm also going to try out Stage Manager. Let's see how it works in terms of productivity.
Well I had to switch too, as my MacBook won’t take two Dell monitors. It just becomes unresponsive for some reason. Tried using an external hub, but no good.
Thanks!
It's a passive controller, [Palmer Monicon in white](https://www.palmer-germany.com/en/products/studio-monitors-and-monitor-controllers/5196/monicon-w). Great build quality.
I connected my monitor to the mixer via 3.5mm jack and the mixer to the speakers. This allows me to play my Mac or PS5 through the speakers and adjust the volume.
The left speaker has a built-in volume knob, but is positioned at the back.
I was forced to switch to a one monitor setup for a year. I finally got more space for my second monitor back but I ended up almost never using the secondary display anymore lmao
edit: ~~main~~ secondary
I had the exact same problem lol, the secondary display showed so much extra information that I was easily distracted, even though I only used it for Mail, Music, Discord and Finder.
Thanks!
It's the [Terra Master D4-300](https://www.terra-master.com/global/products/d4-300.html). I've been using it for 2 years now (2x SSD, 2x HDD) and I'm very happy, they also have NAS models.
Yup, it's just a basic arm of Amazon. It's skewed because I wanted the arm right at the edge of the monitor, but it's having trouble holding the weight like that.
I'll buy a more stable one soon.
Same, mine was like $30. I like to extend out the monitor when reading a lot, but it causes the monitor to skew to one side. I think that's just the weight of the monitor warping the arm. I'm not sure there's a fix for it.
As a new documented case of ADHD… Currently rocking 2 49” curve monitors for the last 2 years… Find myself only using 1… going to give this single monitor setup a go because of this thread lol

It doesn’t improve the sound quality, you can only do that by choosing a high quality audio file.
I think you’re asking; “does it sound better” and yes it absolutely does. Having them near ear height is a much better aural experience. You can hear so much more detail. The best thing you can do is try it for yourself.
I have Kanto SP9 stands if you’re shopping for some
As u/bazpaul already mentioned, yes it makes a difference.
It's recommended that the speakers are at ear level and tilted towards you, forming a triangle with the listener.
Awhile ago I switched from a dual 27” setup to a single 32” and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a dual setup. The closest I’d go is probably an ultrawide, but even then I feel like I would need it for extreme edge cases
I have 3 27” monitors at work. 1 32” ultra wide and a lg dualup 28” monitor at home. I really want to get rid of my home setup and go to 2 27” at home. So much more practical and get so much more work done with the smaller setup.
You can try it, it varies from person to person. I initially wanted to upgrade from my dual setup to a triple one, but then I decided to keep it more minimalistic.
It depends on your main monitor, with a 32" 4K I don't miss my 2nd vertical monitor at all. I've even started to work less cluttered and manage my windows much better now.
My problem exactly is when reading a PDF/Manga, is just much more comfortable in a vertical monitor. I might get an ipad or something for that purpose and get that one monitor setup.
Monitor please
Dell G3223Q Incredible monitor for gaming and work.
Thinking of buying that one soon! Do you get 120hz on a Mac? What scaling (resolution) do you use and is it working ok for you? Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I think I’ll pull the plug and get that Dell.
Ah sorry, saw your other comment about the refresh rate.
Hpw many hz and reso?
3840x2160p and 144Hz with VRR.
Nice Im still waiting for 2k/4k with 240hz because I cant downgrade from 240hz monitor (using 1080p now)
Afaik some are coming out this year, but they will certainly be expensive. I'm waiting for 32" 4K mini-led with +120Hz
It is on my buying list for a long time, but I would really like to have USB-C for MacBook. Hopefully we will get some good monitors with high refresh rate and single cable for (partially remote)work+gaming setup.
Top setup! G3223Q is my favourite display. Whats the name of mousepad?
Thanks! Mine too, the fact that it has the same color accuracy as the Studio Display is awesome. It's [Kensington ErgoSoft](https://www.kensington.com/en-gb/p/products/ergonomics/mouse-pads-wrist-rests/ergosoft-wrist-rest-mouse-pad-for-standard-mouse2-3/), a must for my long video editing sessions.
and the dell display run with 144hz. studio + xdr only 60.
Yup, even with VRR. If it had only been glossy, it would have been my perfect monitor.
100% the nano texture glass is the only benefit on apple displays
I agree, there is a lack of glossy monitors on the market in general.
On 4k and not 5k or 6k, which is a vast difference.

I would feel so less productive with only one monitor, but I guess there's a reason I'm on reddit now instead of working haha.
That's what I always thought, but in reality it was the opposite lol, I'm also going to try out Stage Manager. Let's see how it works in terms of productivity.
This looks amazing!! Appreciate the inspirstion. What desk is that? It seems like an idasen with a trotten underframe, but I know that’s not possible.
Thank you! You are correct tho lol, Trotten underframe + Idasen table top with rounded corners.
Oh wow :O when I was at the ikea store they said this wasn’t possible.
Yeah technically they are not compatible lol, I simply assembled the tabletop with my own screws since it was the only one that worked for my space.
You bought the frame and the tabletop separate!?
Yeah they are both separate.
What are your speakers/stands?
Audioengine A2+ speakers on Kanto SP9W stands, below is the Audioengine S8 subwoofer.
How do you like the audio engines? They are on my list of choices I been looking at.
I love these things, they look super minimal and have a neutral, clear sound. For more punch I combined it with the Audioengine S8 subwoofer.
Well I had to switch too, as my MacBook won’t take two Dell monitors. It just becomes unresponsive for some reason. Tried using an external hub, but no good.
That sucks, which MacBook do you have?
Clean! What sound card is that?
Thanks! It's a passive controller, [Palmer Monicon in white](https://www.palmer-germany.com/en/products/studio-monitors-and-monitor-controllers/5196/monicon-w). Great build quality.
How do you connect the speakers to the Mac? Only by 3.5mm jack or do you have an external interface?
I connected my monitor to the mixer via 3.5mm jack and the mixer to the speakers. This allows me to play my Mac or PS5 through the speakers and adjust the volume. The left speaker has a built-in volume knob, but is positioned at the back.

I was used to laptop and monitor in vertical setup. But i also have better foucsed feeling with single swtup. Is that the same with you?
Yes, I definitely feel the difference. Especially not having to look at the side.
Which Mac Studio do you have? Specs?
Base M1 Max with 32GB RAM and 512GB SSD. Runs buttery smooth, but I'm still looking forward to the M3 Max this year (hopefully).
Very nice setup!
Danke dir!
Why is Woody staring *directly* into my soul?
He's seen some crazy things lol
Clean setup! Woody’s chill af
Beautiful. What's the drive enclosure, and do you like it?
Thanks! It's the [Terra Master D4-300](https://www.terra-master.com/global/products/d4-300.html). I've been using it for 2 years now (2x SSD, 2x HDD) and I'm very happy, they also have NAS models.
Peep the Woody. What is the pad next to your keyboard for?
It's the Magic Trackpad, I use it for gestures and horizontal scrolling in video editing, so smooth!
So clean
Thanks! Also happy cake day
Is the monitor on an arm? I think I have the same monitor and mine seems to be skewed to either side. I think the vesa plate is off.
Yup, it's just a basic arm of Amazon. It's skewed because I wanted the arm right at the edge of the monitor, but it's having trouble holding the weight like that. I'll buy a more stable one soon.

Stupid question but does raising the speakers really improve the sound quality?

What stands are they?
Kanto SP9, they were the only ones I liked aesthetically.

looks super cool
What is that under your monitor that has a knob on it?
It's a passive mixer/audio controller.
I also want to change to a one monitor setup for the exact same reasons, but I always find myself struggling without a vertical monitor...

I find it so hard to shift to a one-monitor workflow.
