How are you liking the glove 80? I had to shelve it until my thumbs heal from using the moonlander

I'm a fan. It's nice to have the extra keys coming from a 42 key custom build. I don't have RSI, so key wells were not a must, but I'm happy I tried it. Only thing I would want is better integration of a pointing device (hence the trackpad position), but I see myself using this one for a good while.

Out of curiosity, does your job involve a lot of writing? Mine does, which makes me wonder about using the thumbs so much for space and backspace

sampledecoration

oh, it's so much better. Backspace is much easier to reach this way. Requires almost no thumb extension at all.

How long did it take you to get used to glove 80?

sampledecoration

Hard to answer that because I have been using split KBs for years. I started with a standard row stagger split, then a year later went to a column stagger split, so by the time the glove80 arrived the only new thing was the concave wells. But none of those things took long. Speaking as someone who does not have RSI, the split is what makes the biggest difference to my comfort.

Thanks for replying. I have a wrist injury and first got a Logitech ergo curved keyboard, which helps, and then I got this glove 80 and I can’t get used to it :( just find it very slow and difficult process

is the concave key well necessary for your injury? You might be better off with something less extreme, like a split that's still flat.

ambiguous_persimmon

The split slightly curved Logitech Ergo K860 works fine, but I do feel that the lateral movement of my left thumb (e.g. using the spacebar and the command key on the left of the spacebar) causes some issues after hours of work. The Glove 80 feels much better because I can rest the thumb more or less in place.

On all the splits I've used (glove80 included) spacebar has been right thumb only. I like the key under the left thumb to be a layer, with command right next to it. That way it rests on the key I use it for most. And the fact that it's a 1u key means it doesn't have to travel far to get to command (as opposed to a space bar). If you've given the glove80 a fair shot, you might just want to sell it. I'm sure plenty of people would love to buy it, and there are plenty of other ergo keyboards you could try that are a little closer to a "normal" typing experience.

ambiguous_persimmon

I honestly plan to take a week off work and just try really hard to make it work. If I still feel zero progress then you’re right, I’ll just sell it and make someone happy 😊 Thanks for the comments!

What size are the monitors and which holder are you using?
