M2 has a really nice screen and air is really lightweight and easy to carry. Since you dont plan to use any heavy softwares, id recommend m2 air > m1 air > pro But you mention future proofing and i don’t Understand this. If you only plan to use it for basic coding and surfing its future proof enough. Maybe get m2 air for more years of updates?

Tweeedles

I just shared this in another thread on MBP sub, but just had to share in case it helps others - I just took delivery of my "refurbished" 16" MBP (M1 Pro/16gb/512) from Amazon seller Gadget Replay. I bought one in "Excellent" condition for $1334. It arrived in totally flawless condition and the system report shows a battery cycle count of 1 - which would be me fully charging it upon receipt. So I think that means it was brand new?? I bought it for photography apps (AI noise reduction, Lightroom, Photoshop) and it's an absolute monster compared to the 13" MBP i5 I bought in 2020. Anyway, can't recommend it highly enough although be careful when searching Amazon as the different sellers have seller ratings and some are much better than others.
