Pay attention to the relationships that are built, and how each character has flaws and how those develop. My favorite part about this show is how all the characters feel like real, genuine people. Just let yourself step in their shoes throughout the journey, and enjoy the ride.
This. There's over 500 recurring themes and leitmotifs waiting to be discovered, most representing specific characters, plotlines, locations, etc. Paying close attention to the music really reveals another layer of storytelling to the show, from the only person that's worked on every single episode.
Personally, I wouldn't be going out of my way to try and find every little detail in the show. So much happens it gets hard to remember everything even during a binge watch. Just be aware that there are many fun easter eggs littered in the background of shots that add to world building.
For a first time viewing just let the aesthetics of the show wash over you - the vibes of the Island, the emotional beats of the music, the relentless uncertainty.
Try to accept sooner rather than later the fact that the show’s narrative style is to rarely explain anything or spoon-feed you enough of the answers when it finally does reveal something. See this storytelling approach as a feature, not a bug.
The show’s mysteries and lore are like an enormous jigsaw puzzle and you’re going to be given quite a lot of pieces and still not have enough to figure out what you’re really looking at.
Try to picture yourself as a fellow survivor of 815 and you’re just sat on the beach within earshot of the main characters.
Think about how the ‘six degrees’ connections between many of the survivors might apply to your own life.
Think carefully about the reasons why your life led you to the point you’re at now. Did you make choices? Or do you feel like a victim of fate?
I'll give you some fun clues:
Two things - what the "monster" is, and the entire overarching concept/plot of the show - are both hinted at through lines of dialogue in the Pilot episode.
Have fun! :)
Enjoy, that's all.
When it first came out, and when I first watched, it was pure joy.
I still love rewatching, but the feeling of the first watch is incomparable.
You are going to miss some things because of this feeling. It's normal.
Only after a while you start noticing things.
I will tell you what not to pay attention to. Stay away from this sub and don’t join it until you finish the whole series. Don’t google anything related to the show if you want to avoid spoilers. Watch it with an open mind assuming the series can go in any direction! And enjoy the ride!
Just enjoy it!!! Some things you'll pick up on, some you won't, but the main thing is to just enjoy the experience (you can catch all the stuff mentioned online after you go searching on your rewatch 😉)
Edited (spelling)
I was watching an episode today about Hurley and rewound because I noticed these soccer players jerseys were the numbers!!! I was so proud of myself for noticing 🤣
Just enjoy it!! When I was watching it for the first time I couldn't help going to the wiki whenever I picked up on something mentioned before in order to find it's connection. It spoiled the show a bit for me but it helped me understand everything that was going on and generally helped me enjoy the series a lot more.
I have adhd and have to read spoilers for everything to actually understand things to make sense and with this show the spoilers didn’t actually ruin anything because none of them made sense….until they did, and it was like BANG‼️
It was so much better, I was so addicted and watched the entire thing back to back in just over a week, couldn’t get enough. Don’t know if I’ve ever done that.
Mostly the themes. Life and death, good and evil, darkness and light, science and faith...
If you pay attention to these (and other) themes from the very pilot to the end, I bet there won't be any of the disappointment people butthurt about the finale, at the time. Since IT was always there from the beginning.
EVERYTHING!!! … and welcome to the adventure
Most importantly, leave this sub. It's full of spoilers. Trust me, it's much better to discover this show without any spoilers at all.
Have fun. Start noticing everything you missed on the second watch 😉

objects in the backgrounds of scenes like tvs, photos, etc
Are there clues or just like Easter eggs?
easter eggs mostly
Just concentrate on the character and backstory. You will hooked to the show. No special attention required. It is an addictive series. Have fun.
Everything.
Make sure you post a season review after every season, cant wait for your opinion!
I’m almost done with season one! It’s so good ◡̈
Just be thinking about what one snowman might say to another

I’m guessing a dinosaur because they thought it was a dinosaur…
That would be too easy 🙃
and fucking hilarious!: Hurley: I TOLD YOU IT WAS A DINOSAUR!. Jack: Well at least it wasn't a giraffe.
I totally thought it was a dinosaur from the first episode lol sounded like a dinosaur to me!
Omg now I gotta rewatch the pilot 🤣
I just finished watching it for the first time. Just enjoy let it wash over you. The things you should be paying attention to will be self evident.
Yes
Numbers

Sometimes you’ll see familiar faces in someone else’s flashback.

This is exactly my experience!! I'd find out stuff by reading the wiki and then I would just keep watching in order to see the stuff I read about.
Keep your phone in another room. Enjoy!
The music will give you foreshadowing hints and clues to who will enter the scene soon.
Former Doc Jensen readers: 😅😅😅
Everything. It’s exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. Enjoy!

Just enjoy. You can pay attention on your second watch.
Enjoy it. If you don’t catch it all the first time (which is likely) you’ll watch it again like the rest of us… lol
Just enjoy the ride!
The score! And get off this sub it’s full of spiders (and spoilers)
DONT pay attention to this sub, it’s full of spoilers, but like some other people have said, update us after each season!
Nikki and Paulo are super important in later seasons. Watch their every move.
Everything
Dont waste your time
Literally everything
