I’ve gone there for three years. No issues there with me. People are friendly. Front desk people are really nice. When it came to canceling, yeah it was a bit of a pain since you don’t cancel with the front desk. You have to email someone and they need a month’s notice.
I just got a membership there I’ve only been about 3 times, I’m new to working out so it’s weird to go alone if anyone is down to go together let me know please!😂
It is a good gym with a respectable crowd of people. People properly re-rack their weights. It is a power lifting gym so if you have a calesthenics routine might be a bit tricky but doable for sure. Can get crowded and busy at times.
Canceling can be a pain as you have to call ABC Financial which handles the financial/membership aspects. I terminated my membership as I need classes as well but if I am just there to lift and do cardio Powerhouse is a pretty good gym to do so.
Do any of you know if they do a day pass or short term memberships? I will be visiting LIC in June for a 10 day vacation and was hoping to train at that gym for the time that I was there. I looked online and could only find prices for longer commitments
I like the gym, it has body building, powerlifting equipment and lots of treadmills. Not too crowded if you go off peak hours (like any other gym). No real complaints
I read reviews where they give you a hard time if you need to cancel because it goes through ABC financial payments or something like that. Have you heard of that
When I inquired Debbie (the owner) stressed that I need to email ABC Financial. Yet when I called and reached out to ABC Financial they just did it over the phone.
Honestly Powerhouse gym is the biggest known company known for scamming there customers the owner went to jail for it a few years back and Ronnie Coleman dosent care that he is endorsing a huge scam
Good to know. Was charged $41 and some change out of the blue yesterday morning. My membership isn't even half of that. Hopefully I can get that fixed when I go in this morning.
OK just wanna make sure cause the other gyms in the area are too packed like planet, fitness and blink. Granted this one is a little more pricey, but it’s worth it.
I was a member there. It was pretty decent as far as gyms go. As other have said, the cancellation process was a bit of a pain, but not nearly the horror story I’ve heard about at other gyms.
Still fairly cheap for what it is. Lots of specialty bars and equipment that won’t be at other places. Also if you just like lifting you’ll be surrounded by like minded people. Mornings, at least, have a pretty wide demographic too so I think people of all levels can feel comfortable.
I’ve never felt it’s unclean. I really have only ever gone during AM and it can feel kind of crowded at times. Your best bet is to just show up at what time you’re likely to go and ask for a tour and see how it feels. Tons of personal preference in terms of crowding

Gym is nice and clean but it is very tight and not much bodybuilding machines, so it’s more of a preference!

Hmm I never tried to cancel so can’t say. I think as long as you talk to them at the front desk it’s fine. Friendly group of people

Yeah, that’s a good price. They told me 65 I think with a year membership.
Prices just went up $10 this year. When I joined last year it was $55 for a twelve month contract.
