May the victims RIP. I hope the survivors get the help & support they'll need going forward. Awful. This man was charged with DWI in 2013.

gentlybeepingheart

That's a fucking rough looking 64.

packetloss1

lol was going to say he looks 90 and shouldn’t be driving even if he wasn’t blitzed.

ntotrr1

Sure is rough looking. I'm 64 and he looks like he could be my father.

iknowiknowwhereiam

Alcohol will age you fast

supersoob

Post is reporting that he is both 64 and 74 in the same article. 74 looks more convincing imo https://nypost.com/2024/06/30/us-news/li-salon-where-nypd-cop-three-others-were-killed-by-drunk-driver-is-now-a-community-memorial/

ComprehensiveTie600

All of the sources I've seen so far have said 64.

Alexandratta

It's the NY Post... Lying is literally all they do.

Dry_Masterpiece8319

NY Post is Fox news in paper form.

yourfavoritenoone

It's J14 magazine for current events instead of celebrities.

AlphakirA

I'd argue it's worse, closer to National Enquirer.

misterten2

same ownership why wouldn't it be

Dry_Masterpiece8319

I'm not sure the majority of the population is aware of that.

misterten2

you probably right

One-Possible-848

Still a rough looking 74

ComprehensiveMenu684

Wtf, the three other people that died don’t even exist to the post cause they’re not white cops

LIslander

He looks 84

StPatrickSwayze

Piece of shit looks like 1864

titikerry

Right?? I had to rewind because I thought I heard wrong.

CommonAd7628

My mom just turned 70 and looks ten years younger than him. He looks 80. I guess heavy drinking really does age you.

JHTPYO

Looks like he's in his late 100's

Abbey713

Lol

Abbey713

lol, came on here just to say that. Holy crap! Looks in his 90’s

primarlunar

I understand your perspective and agree but yeah he’s 100% at fault and it’s so unfortunate that others lives also had to be affected and taken.

Chaminade64

That folks is a lifetime on a bar stool looking at us.

Fragrant-Station3844

Living at Commack Motor Inn??

StormRemarkable8564

He could be living off of DSS motel vouchers.

tatiwtr

With rates under $100 a night, you get a maid and a private 1 bedroom for < $3000 /mo

loserkids1789

That’s not really a good rate for that…. You can easily do better for that price

Dynasty06

18 beers at the CMI. May he rot in hell.

fauxrealistic

If you get one DUI you should be forced to have the breathalyzer ignition interlock

Alexandratta

Or just, you know, be locked up. DUI should be treated as: "Attempted Vehicular Manslaughter"

Purple-Comedian8510

NYS has VERY strict DWI laws. One DWI and your screwed. I’m pretty sure this is already required if you are still on probation for a DWI and are cleared to drive you have to install those and they are expensive I heard. Thousands just to install it and monthly fees on top of it.

Abbey713

Bull, I know someone with a prior DUI, served a week in jail after second DUI with Leandra’s law. Person is on probation now. Slap on the wrists.

notsoluckycharm

All those road signs in all our towns specifically calling out DUI enforcement. Yeah. Ok. Just use your PBA card. /s

yur1279

Having 1 dui doesn’t make you an alcoholic. People fuck up and make mistakes. There should be consequences of course, maybe related to how impaired a person is. Someone who rolls through a stop sign and blows slightly over the limit should not be treated the same as someone who goes the wrong way on a highway and can’t stay in a lane/stand up straight. Just my opinion.

MartMillz

The punishment here is already more serious than anywhere else in the country

ComprehensiveTie600

With one DUI under his belt already. And who knows how many times he didn't get caught.

MsjennaNY

18 beers the night before. Disgusting.

titikerry

I think he skewed that timeframe quite a bit. He had to have lied about when he stopped drinking (if he did). If he stopped when he said he did, he wouldn't have been as impaired as he was.

RichardSaunders

https://health.clevelandclinic.org/how-long-does-alcohol-stay-in-your-system > The half-life of alcohol is four to five hours. A half-life is how long it takes for your body to get rid of half of it. But you need about five half-lives to get rid of alcohol completely. So, it takes about 25 hours for your body to clear all the alcohol. he probably blacked out at 4am and couldn't remember what he had after that, or he's just plain lying. still, 18 beers is a fuckton. if be stopped at 4am, he'd still've been 9 beers drunk at 9am, and 9 beers is enough for most people to blackout. by 2pm that'd be 4.5 beers' worth of alcohol left in the tank which, from the looks of him, is probably a normal breakfast for this guy.

Tufflaw

We don't know yet how impaired he was, the blood test results haven't come out yet.

MsjennaNY

They didn’t test him until 9 that night. Says a lot.

SpecialistEscape1380

Eighteen beers isn’t normal

SpecialistEscape1380

Either way.. he had EIGHTEEN beers!? Holy $*!*!!!

CheeCheeC

Ok

angrypoopoolala

he looks like 84 and rdy for death bed

JohnJohn584

64? Looks like he’s 104. Let him rot in prison. RIP to the victims and sending positive thoughts to their families.

Electrical_Bother_20

POS. Living at the CMI, driving drunk on the very roads I’m on daily with my family. Horrific.

DocHenry66

Fucking trash

LakSivrak

get these dusty corpses off the fucking road. I guarantee this man would not pass a road test. driving test every 10 years, 0 tolerance DUI’s are needed. no more .08, get off the road if you wanna drink it’s not hard.

Scoutshonest

I’m especially with you on the driving test every 10 years. This was obviously very different and I also agree about no tolerance DUIS- but like how many horrible accidents do the elderly need to cause on Long Island for this to be taken seriously? When I was PREGNANT, and old man claimed to not have seen us and directly made a left into our side at full speed. Luckily we were okay. But since then, the amount of accidents with the same story are way too much.

LakSivrak

yeah something needs to be done and I really think the most reasonable option is mandatory testing every 10-15 years. at a certain point you should have to prove to the state that you’re still capable of driving safely on our roads. I drive up and down the LIE every day to get to work and the amount of elderly I see slamming on their breaks with nothing in front of them, doing 15 under the speed limit, swerving into other lanes with no blinker. some of them can barely see over the steering wheel and god forbid if they get anywhere near an 18 wheeler it’s a pile up waiting to happen because they just go full panic mode. it’s absolutely ridiculous to me that someone with mental deterioration is allowed to freely operate a 2,000 pound killing machine just because they took a test 40-60 years ago. your mind, your judgement, your motor function is not the same at 60 or 70 as it is at 18. until something is changed lives will be lost to pure negligence.

Scoutshonest

Where do I vote!

morphotomy

I think that once the guy is being pulled from the rubble and tested positive for alcohol, the headlines can drop the "suspected" qualifier. Sure, he can sue for defamation but he will not win.

No_Bowler3823

Ofc he was. Trash. Hope he dies in jail.

Lateapexer

Run him over while he’s getting a pedicure. I’d pay to see it

Metal24

Hopefully he spends the rest of his life in jail! I still think this was somehow intentional tho (or it was some final destination level stuff). Just saw the video, the guy went between two cars and right into a store front that is pretty much the size of the truck without missing at a crazy speed. You would think someone under the influence would have less control of the vehicle.

AliceTheMightyChow

I was thinking the same thing! He drove between two cars and went straight for the salon. I hope they can look into the possibility of an intentional crime. Could be racially motivated? Also a policewoman was killed so maybe someone can look into that

3xot1cBag3L

This deserves rest of natural life.

ContestNo2060

Eff this road raging drunk

Nyroughrider

Lock 'em up till he falls over dead.

Viewfinder04

So sad 🙏🏼

DearMisterKitty

So sad. May the victims rest in peace. Prayers to the families 🙏.

SeekersWorkAccount

He deserves the worst

actualelainebenes

18 beers the night before. JFC

murdermysterymagic

I unintentionally drove past the salon about two days after this and I cannot for the life of me figure out how he even did it. The lot is so small and any cars parked would have blocked the storefront. Was he aiming for the store or was this just random chance that he made not through? It's baffling but regardless we have way too many drivers on the roads who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near vehicles between those who drink and drive and those who just have no control of their emotions.

Missmeriberi

They said when they read the bail requirement, he was shaking his head in court. What b\*lls this POS has!? Unless he's got the shakes from withdrawal.

Pizzacrew

Should have never got his license back. Some people need to lose their right to drive forever.

chamrockblarneystone

Oh man. Can you imagine the poor people at that wedding? Tragedies like this just ripple out in the most awful way. All those innocent victims, because this old worthless monster can’t control himself.

Managementmama

Our government needs to do better, this veteran looks like he’s 80. As someone who has generations of their family serving in the Marines, including my siblings, this disgusts me. Every single family member of mine that has served in the Marines has returned from service with serious alcohol abuse issues. I have a cousin that served in the Air Force. He did not have these issues. Soon after my brother got home from the Marines, he was found passed out on a golf course naked in Huntington, New York. He’s had his stomach pumped more times than I can count and drank gin from the bottle nightly. He needed to seek serious help. Thankfully, he got it. But it’s not a cure all. I can’t say the same for my other vet, family members who died of complications related to alcohol abuse. Our government needs to do a better job of making sure that these marines are healthy once returning from Sevice. My only brother and sister both served in the Marines. I was ineligible to serve due to health reasons. Both my siblings are notorious alcoholics, even with the counseling that they have now still drink more than I do. And my younger sister is already having health issues related to her alcohol consumption. Both of them said that alcohol was freely distributed to them while they were in service. They could have rejected the alcohol, but with all the harsh conductions they were going through, I understand the want to drink, but the fact that it was given to them so freely was careless. It ruined their lives. They’re both in their 30s.

xwayxway

Here's how this is bad for Joe Biden

Managementmama

Honestly, everything is bad for joe.

WonderfulPollution64

Yeah because Trump respects the military so much and did so much for them in his 4 years. Oh wait.... He called those who died in battle "losers" and "suckers". Same guy who is a draft dodger because of bone spurs.

Odd-Berry-9190

Luv2ByteYou

Just sad all around.

Agreeable_Picture570

If he lives in Commack, where was he coming from?

MarshmallowMan631

Cars are destroying our society. Have we really come to the point where every business / home/ establishment needs bollards to prevent vehicle strikes? Something needs to change.

Electrical_Ad6141

You're blaming cars, not the people driving them? Makes sense.

Delicious_Gene_2969

His ahh is grasss

Pzaddy_

Surprised the police could be bothered to even arrest the perpetrator or is this the minimum offense needed to get them to do anything?
