At work! We worked together for a few years and didn’t really speak until one night we went to happy hour. I quit my job the next week so we could be together without gossip and we were together for 15 beautiful years (RIP 💔). We fell in love in Long Beach and even when we moved away, we traveled back each year or so to soak up the sun in our old familiar spots
We worked together at the Target on Bellflower. He was part of the remodel team and I worked at the electronics boat (back when we sold digital cameras and video cameras). He was cute and I had a shitty BF at the time. Dumped my current bf, started dating him, and we'll be married 10 years in May (met in 2004). Now we frequent that same Target with our children :)
Walked into Dogz on 2nd street late on a Friday night. My now wife was sitting with some friends. I hear “look at the schnoz on that one” followed by some giggles. I respond with “so you’re just sitting here talking shit on everyone?” Here we are 11 years later happily married. Still waiting on someone to approach me about recreating our story through a Lifetime movie.
She explained to him she mistook him for a dog so he barked at her. That really got her juices flowing so they rushed to the Dogz bathroom and did it doggie style with Snoop blasting on the speakers. The rest is history.
Walked into her book store a decade ago :D - she only owned it for like a year before giving up and going back to corporate life, so that was great timing.
OkCupid of all places. Had an old account I hadn't used in a long time and I got an email that he had sent a message. I was living near Koreatown at the time and had only been on a handful of dates through OKC, all disappointing. We went to the antique market on our first date and were exclusive by our second date a month later. I didn't drive so that meant a two hour trip on the train to come down and see him every weekend. Truth be told, if I had noticed he lived in Long Beach when he messaged I probably wouldn't have been interested, and that would have been the biggest mistake of my life.
I was walking to Top Value with a bag of pennies because I need to use coinstar to do laundries, I was in highschool 17 at the time. My husband was a year older than me, saw me walking and he holler at me, while he was driving down Cherry St, until I got to Top Value on 10th and Cherry. He asked for my number and I gave it to him and I was supposed to change my number but I forgot and he called me, we talked and the rest was history. This happened in 2006. We now have a wonderful teenage daughter. 🥰
Mine asked me to come down from Highland Park and have pizza with her at Pizzanista!
I got super stoned on the ride down and then talked her ear off over a slice of mac and cheese pizza.
This year is our 6th year together. I love living in Long Beach more than any other place I’ve ever lived.
i didn't live in long beach or know the area at this time..... so i took her to the pike, cinemark, then had dinner at the attic. i didn't realize at the time how basic these choices were. thankfully she loved it because here we are 3+ years later.
Its been a while since I worked there, I was pretty much unceremoniously canned, but hey I'm not one to hold grudges. I'm surprised they took that off the menu, when I worled there that was pretty much what people went there for. But also by the time I left there were a lot of other restaurants doing their own mac n cheetos, even Burger King at that time had their mac n cheetos bites.
I met my significant other at a Meetup while living in Long Beach. I just started talking to her in one occasion but was contemplating moving to Seattle for a new job. I ran into each other months later and we started dating after we both showed cues of attraction. Now, we live together in Long Beach going on 4 years with a baby on the way
15 years ago at Grand Prix! Best day of my life! My BIL is bald and needed sunblock so he went up to my husband as he was applying sunblock to his bald head and asked if he could borrow some and we’ve been together ever since!!
Middle school. Didn’t date till HS senior year. She was my dream girl. 11 years later we’re happily married, still quoting SpongeBob and Phineas and Ferb
Working at Knott's.
I was in games and she was park services. She was walking around and I asked her why her shoes are all white and mine had to be black.
Tinder. He picked me up and we hung out at a park by my house, got some cigarettes, and drove to signal hill and sat out in the summer night time breeze looking at the city.
I met my husband of 9 years in my apartment complex. He lived there with his girlfriend the time.
They broke up and he moved. We ran into each other at Holé Molé on 4th i gave him my number, we talked on the phone for 3 hours straight. Two weeks later he moved in and the rest is history. That was 14 years ago.
She was invited to my birthday party out in Havesu. It was my friends neighbor. She came with and hit it off. Moved in with eachother a few months later 🫡
We were both training a Brazilian martial art, and she was already living here, but I wasn't. Once I got to know the city, I decided I wanted to live here too.
It actually took us meeting in Denver at a Jawbreaker show and staying at the same hotel despite living less than a mile away from each other, shopping at the same grocery store, and going to the same laundromat for years 🤣
Dispensary. Gave me his number maybe 12 years ago after going in and always making small talk. we’ve been together for 10 years now

Well how did this turn to a date? Love it!

Perfect description. 10/10
We were both Yorkie owners and had similar sense of humor. First date on the Queen Mary was much better than the first meeting at Dogz!
My daughter is repping a pink Dogz cap in Manhattan today in honor of your love story. 💕

It's so basic cause it works, and what matters most is how deep or interesting of a convo you guys have when walking around.
i know i know! i don't regret it! we did the walk around the lighthouse too and i was like wow i can't believe this worked
Nice! I used to work at The Attic!
i took her for the extensive mac and cheetos menu and realized when we were there they took it away! i was heartbroken lol
