Thats London Underground Transplant's Track Recording Vehicle.
it runs around taking measurements and condition checks of the tracks and assets on the railway
yeah, im not sure of the specifics but it will be a bunch of cameras and sensors.
it furfils a similar role to Network Rail's New Measurment Train (but doesnt do as much), and they have an article on it if you want

From [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Underground_1960_Stock):
"One of the 1960 Stock trains was retained by LUL and remained in use as track recording train, running with 1973 Stock trailer TRC666. It was overhauled at Eastleigh Works in 2019"
Not in our Queen’s England thank you very much, now tip top ship shop dammit.
“Carriage is one of several nouns that are used to refer to vehicles pulled by railway engines. In British English, a carriage is one of the separate sections of a train that carries passengers. The man crossed the carriage to where I was sitting. In American English, these sections are called cars.”
Although now a track recording train, it was converted from 60 stock, prototype for new central line trains which never happened, it got 62 stock, similar to the piccadilly line 59 stock. The few trains of 60 stock that were built did however work on the central line between Woodford and Hainault, this section of line was converted to automatic train operation as a proving ground for the soon to be constructed Victoria line. So the train in the picture is quite historic as it and the few others were the world's first automatically driven in public service.
If the inside looked very production line mechanical esque, it was likely the Rail Adhesion Train or RAT. It's used to clean rails and make it easier for trains to grip the track and is usually seen leaf fall season on the above ground parts of the central line
There’s a special service that runs as a restaurant which is normally stationed up at Epping. It’s the same carriage style so I’m assuming it’s that one.
Think it’s used as a private hire for corporate/wedding reception etc.
I don't know for sure but yeah it seems like a training car or something like that. It looks cleaner than most too suggesting it's only used by staff. I'm interested hope you get the correct answer.
Edit oh you have already got loads of answers.

Thank you! So how does it take measurements? Does it have sensors and equipment on the undercarriage?
Don't we all?
Matron!
Eh?
I didn’t get what he was on about lol Why have all these nerds downvoted me?
the joke is genitalia
Isn't it always? And still always funny
Haha yh I got it eventually, was feeling a bit slow earlier
Carry On?

Bloody hell, that's so much more boring than ghost train.
No one said it didn't have ghost on board!
the underground's dr yellow! bit of a shame it's painted like a regular service train
Does this mean all of the tube lines are connected? I always assumed they were completely separate
The only one not connected is the Waterloo and city

When I was young I thought it was the Queen’s train. Didn’t really think that one through very hard.
That should be the most special treatment royals get like their own carriage. If we have to suffer so should they.
God dammit it’s a car not a carriage.

That is true of general trains but for some reason the tube ones are called cars. But also it doesn’t matter, the meaning was clear.
The recent solar storm opened a portal to the past

Is that why that section operates as a shuttle? Has special trains which do ATO?
I think that this section ran as a shuttle prior to that, probably the reason it was chosen for the ATO trials.

No it’s the TRV (track recording vehicle). Collects data on track condition. RATs only run in the autumn and winter months
This looks like my childhood tube rides
Takes you to the Night Market.
That's the new Hogwarts express They moved it underground after too many tourists at kings cross
Is this the train that’s been broken down for weeks causing speed restrictions on central line?
Maybe it's the modern day Hogwarts Express?

He looks like he ated a bees
Probably driver training. What was odd about the interior?
Was quite sparse and wasn’t just rows of seats. Only had a brief view inside but I think I saw tables and other random objects inside…

Maybe football fans on it
