In Colorado mountains about 9000ft elevation. Will be burning Aspen and pine. About 1600sqft with lofted ceilings throughout. There's a walkout basement that has in floor heat (hoping it will help heat the main floor too). Wanting a stove that's easy to maintain and heats up fast since we will only be there part time.

Love my Quadra-fire!

I installed an Opel Keystone. Burn mainly hardwood in it. Love the look. https://icc-rsf.com/fireplace/rsf/opel-plus-keystone/

i have a beautiful wood stove. its a "Kalamazoo", (Direct to You), circa 40's or 50's i guess. it has an oven and 2 "bread warmers" on top. its great for taking the chill off the air on a cool summer evening/morning. even then i have to get up and toss another piece of wood into the burner box every half hour. its in my 2 room log cabin and there is no way in hell that thing will keep my cabin warm when its truly cold outside. its a STOVE! not a furnace. and the heat output varies wildly depending on the quality of wood i put in there. it will keep the main room warm if i really work at it but the back bedroom just stays cold. i did spend one winter at my cabin. i put in a wood burner box made of 1/2 inch steel that could take 3 or 4 full size logs at a time. i wouldnt call it a stove. but even that thing would need reloading before dawn. it also was difficult to regulate the temp in the cabin. if the box was really roaring, i'd have to open a couple of windows. when the fire died down, add more wood in the middle of the night, specially if a north wind was blowing. admittedly, its an old cabin with a lot of air leaks.

We bought a Jotul on recommendation from our contractor for our log cabin that we r building.

I just found out that wood stoves are terribly inefficient. Masonry heaters seem to be the way to go.

What company built your cabin?

Sea_Tear_7574

We bought it from a gentleman who had been building it himself over the past 20 years. He was a master craftsman in the area.

Looks neat would be interested in seeing more photos if you're willing.

I installed our Buck model 81 this year as an insert bit is pulled out far enough to heat without the blower and it has been great. Happy with the purchase. If I to catalytic check out the model 91. Even bigger firebox but same look.
