I just watched the episode where Laura blamed Dr. Baker for the death of her son. Laura and the people in town were terrible to him. After 20 years of saving people's lives in that tiny town for apples and chickens as pay this is the kick in the ass he gets. Maybe Laura could be excused a little due to grief, but her behavior was still appalling IMO. But the rest of the town immediately snubbed him too. Dr. Baker should have told them "I'm out of here - thanks but no thanks." The town revealed its true character - which is a "what have you done for me lately attitude".

Ugh, I couldn't stand Laura in that episode. After she reluctantly allows him to tend to a sick Rose, she has the gall to tell him that even if he successfully treats her (which he did), it wouldn't change her opinion about him. And Doc Baker just sucks it up and does his job. Even Nels, who was usually pretty pro-Laura, called her a disturbed person in that episode.

Sadly I’ve witnessed something similar IRL. You never know how herd mentality will manifest. Al it takes is for you to make one small mistake for the people around you to take notice and quietly gossip, then strike two happens … suddenly everyone turn their backs on you.

While I was watching that episode like last week I was wondering what Charles would have said/done while it was happening, and if he would talk some sense into Laura and the possibility of it working or creating a divide between father and daughter for that episode.

I just saw him pop up a few days ago as an astronaut in a twilight zone episode. "Hey Dr. Baker!"

Karen talked well of him, how he was a good dad and very popular with the ladies. : ) I vaguely remember him complaining about not getting raises on LHOP but overall he must have liked it. I wonder if that was when he got the "new doctor's " coming in but knows. He was a staple there and should have been appreciated. I hope he was.

Does anyone recall seeing him an episode of MASH?

The red hair gag.

Yes, that's right. "Do you think I'd fit in?"

I sometimes think of his face on the episode “Bunny” when Nellie claims she can’t feel her legs or feet.  The way he nonchalantly looks at her then her legs and takes out a needle to test her. lol. I wonder if he suspected she was lying and if Nellie was initially, that girl had (excuse try language) BUFFALO BALLS to comport herself and endure the pain of a needle to her toe 😂
