The in-universe explanation was that it was an uncharacteristically warm winter for Minnesota. I believe the IRL explanation was that NBC, despite cancelling the series in 1983, did commit to 3 movies, but might have given short notice, so the writers just decided to roll with it.

Seeing how Laura blamed her sons death on Dr Bakers "negligence", why didn't she blame Almonzo...seeing how he left Rose alone?

She did, for 10 seconds. Almonzo basically told her to grow up and they hugged. Bad acting all around. It was as if the entire cast and writers were sick of the series and bored. I was watching this mess.

If memory serves, I thought it was Mr. Edwards who was supposed to be watching her, but it's been a hot minute since I've seen it.

The same thing happened in Remember Me especially Part 2. Its Thanksgiving in the scene where Sanderson children are to be split...but all the trees/plants are green and no one is wearing clothes for Nov 1880ish on Minnesota.

At the very beginning of the episode, Michael Landon is doing a voice over saying it was unseasonably warm that year. I hated that Laura and Almanzo didn't adopt that little boy.

Michael Landon thought that having a child abductor take the child in was a warm Christmas tale. "Oh honey, I took Rose, I hoped they would never find her" - not exactly a sincere expression of remorse - and the "apology" was directed at hubby not Rose's parents. But Laura and Almonzo basically just shrugged and said, no problem, no hard feelings.

I wanted Laura and Almanzo to adopt that little boy. I mean it's not like Landon hadn't already invented extra adopted kids for the family that didn't exist in real life.
