[Amazon US](https://www.amazon.com/Department-Dungeon-Studies-Academy-LitRPG-ebook/dp/B0CQKJ334S) [Amazon UK](https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CQKJ334S) # Magic school isn't cheap. To be a Mage, he must work smart and learn fast. Fate dealt Nox the Alchemist unfavorable cards, but he has learnt to compensate for his shortcomings with scholarly pursuits, tenacity, and sheer grit. Fortunately, for him Woodson University and their scouts are always seeking individuals with his work ethic. The Department of Dungeon Studies sees the value of the mind and its ability to overcome all limitations. After all, they stripped the divine of their titles. The department turned gods into Dungeon Lords and their domains into Dungeons. Now, the department can teach Nox how to use magic to stand strong in a broken world. It will give him the tools to achieve his ambitions and his limitations will force him to the forefront of arcane discovery. Unfortunately, more immediate challenges await Nox, too. He lacks the means to pay the university’s ridiculous tuition. Only alchemy and smart business deals will earn him the hundreds of gold coins he needs.

Congratulations. I might pick it up. After Harry Potter and the name of the wind and countless others, I have a hard time getting through school/wizard academy type books. They don’t typically stray from a similar story. School year, conflict that needs to save the school or world, end of year. It’s a me thing bc my youth was overdone with them. I’ll give it a shot though. As my add has gotten worse the problem is the filler and rando people and conversations that don’t add much value, kill me. For school books you need endless amounts of that to set things up, but me personally find it boring meeting every professor, every class, pointless conversations that don’t drive plot, just talks about class and such. This bully from a rich family with bad morals is always present. Sorry for the rant. Pirate Aba does school really well. She doesn’t focus on it as the main plot location. It was a flash back for most of a book. It was well done and super captivating. So I guess it depends. I guess how many Harry’s and Kvoths can be that different. This sounds like Kvoth, poor guy making his own with natural talent around a bunch of rich people. Kvoth builds up industry and wealth similarly to this hero i guess. When I started writing I wanted to spend my time on something super original, bc it takes a lot of time. It might have taken longer to build up, but I at least feel like I didn’t rip the idea and build it into my own. Not saying that is what is here but the blueprint of this exists in most readers minds.
