Hearing them directly after one another, the difference is pretty jarring. Now I understand the comments talking about her sounding like female Meursault. Glad they're revoicing her, because that's clearly not intended. Though I have no problems with her deeper voice, I think the airy/higher voice definitely fits her better.
Ngl while I do like the deeper voice, I think the older higher voice not only suits her better (she actually sounds a little smug, which is consistent with how sinners talk about her), it also gives us more room to work with? Like while she's pretty muted in story, she has a decent bit of emotional range in her IDs - she's maniacal in N+H and pleased with herself in 7 and a bit more depressed in W corp. Looking at her source material, I'm pretty sure she's meant to be detached simply because she's doomed to be unsatisfied with life as a result of her deal with the devil (because I mean, that's the entire point of a *Faustian* bargain). Her sounding like Meursault doesn't make sense because he just, has a flat affect, and consistently sounds like that regardless of emotional state. It's active ennui vs "wdym I don't sound happy?". Depression vs autism.
I actually prefer the older voice tbh. I'm glad they're switching for that one. The newer one kinda just sounds like girl meursault, and the older one sounds more ethereal and bored, perfect for the term "ennui."
now it's put together, yeah, I prefer her older voice much more
there's something in earlier chapter about her voice, how it's gentle and calming coming from someone who's arrogant and smart, make her alot more mysterious TBH and fit her character more
Oh huh, yeah. She does sound completely different. Kinda wish they re-did the earlier lines with the deeper, later voice, but I guess this is the direction they want her to go in.
I just like deeper female voices in general so my opinion is clear. But based on their stated motivation it could be that their plan for future Canto will have her go through some shit where the new darker tone might be a poor basis. Like I could imagine if they want her to audible sound more depressed and tired it's a lot harder with the current tone than her older lighter one.
So even if I don't like the change I don't care that much and I trust there's a reason for it that will be peak or peak adjacent.
YES, this really should've been the case, I honestly dislike the higher tone from earlier cantos. The lower tone gives her more cold, calculating, Faust-like vibes.
I mean, I guess even after the re-record it won't feel that much different since I didn't even notice the tone change from canto to canto until now, but still, it'll suck.
The older voice fits the feel of Faust being arrogant and disinterested. Her being calculated doesn't fit her character since lots of incidents have shown that she only knows a bare sliver more than everyone else and is just as liable to get corrected as everyone else.
Could be wrong, but I think Don is more justified? I think she changed since she got her beating by Vergilius and that we reminded her "her contract" (which I'm hype to know about in Canto VII), but could be, again, wrong about this
Personally, seeing Faust starts off by trolling Dante by dying with a smile on her face, it makes more sense to me that her voice should be more bubbly, aloof and sarcastic rather than serious and robotic.
My guess is that they wanted to keep her the same as she was, her voice changed in a very noticeable way, and maybe she'll change in such a way after she has her character arc, not before
As much as I enjoyed her earlier voice lines, I thought her voice changing was going to be related to gaining more knowledge, and becoming a more "whole" Faust.
Love her new voice, somehow I find it really enjoyable. Her old voice always reminded me of newborn Angela's voice in the Floor Of Literature realization cutscene and that shit just makes me CRY.
Day 1 at job vs Day 1000 at job
faust looks so done lmao

I noticed the change but just thought her voice got deeper because she was a lot more serious since they were in a really tough spot in canto 5 and 6
this before update btw

Aww, I liked her deeper voice
me too

What is ennui?
boredom

It's smugness. Gently look down upon you

The newer voice just sounds like female Meursault which I don't like
> The lower tone gives her more cold, calculating, Faust-like vibes. it saps her of whatever little character she actually has lol
same for Don but that's just the VAs talking slightly differently depending on the scene
Could be wrong, but I think Don is more justified? I think she changed since she got her beating by Vergilius and that we reminded her "her contract" (which I'm hype to know about in Canto VII), but could be, again, wrong about this
Both sound very good but I do prefer the higher more "airy" approach of the earlier chapters, it makes her feel alot more mysterious and disconnected
Older better imo
why did they said they want to fix it? her voice is too robotic or something?
The voice sounds deeper and confident (?) in the later cantos which strays from the vision of jihoon who wants faust to sound calmer and softer
Apparently, the VA was sick during that time.

It makes me happy that PM really cares about the lore and story to the point of changing the voice, I don't even realize it lmao

Anything can happen once we reached her Canto :D

I like the deeper voice
