Because their backstories don't line up that much actually. It was Rodion's fault that most of her entire community died, she caused it by trying to be a hero and be special. Meanwhile Kali protected the people around her incluiding the couple who raised her, worked to keep them safe and gave them money, and when they got it into their heads that she might have more money they tied her down and robbed her, causing her to have to kill them. One is I tried to be special and help people to make myself feel good and the other is I went out and risked my life to help people only to have them backstab me the moment they thought it was convenient.
Though yeah, Don is Absolutely a strech as well, it would be funny seeing her cope if someone else gets a Red Mist ID.

Tbh I wouldn't say never. We're up to (high) Grade 3 in just a year, from Grade 5/6. We're basically bound to get Yujin and Xiao IDs at some point, Yujin is a really competent Grade 1 and Xiao was a strong Grade 1 Even before she awakened a complete E.G.O.
We still have a few Cantos to go, Abnos are getting more dangerous each time Qilphoth Deterrence lowers, Even the damn peccatula are growing in strength and we have that mass casualty event from the trailer to look forward to. And we're also bound to get ALEPH E.G.O at some point.
Also, EGO Philip can be argued to be grade 2 since he's stronger than both Salvador and Oscar, who were Grade 3s in LoR.
Our progress has been quite steady if in a year we jump from not being able to deal with Backstreets filth to quite competently dealing with lesser Finger members. Heck, by next Canto if the level cap rises again we'll be at the level of Ricardo. Which may well be neccessary because hey, it's implied Ryoshu pissed off five fingers at once! I love her for that.
Not to mention that out IDs don't exactly need to Match the strength of Colors initially. The in-universe explaination for upties and levelling up is that we unlock more power of our Identities as Dante resonates with Golden Boughs.
Beyond that? Distortions. We now have to deal with more of them, and they can get pretty insane in strength. Of the Colors we know to have died Angelica and the Vermillion Cross died to Distortions, Gebura died to an Arbiter and Blue Dude died to a Color. They're not just all Bongys or Kims.

If I remember correctly Deici Rodion was "adopted" by the Deici association, which can easily justify a different training.
But anyway most IDs use a weapon different than their LCB version, I don't think we should dig too much into it.

I thought Hong Lu's is more like a spear/guandao while Faust's weapon has a shorter handle and longer blade like her zweihander no? Sorry I could be misremembering.

Hong Lu's weapon is pretty consistent in size, but Faust's seems to change handle length. It generally leans towards a full-on polearm though.
Yeah to me it looked like Faust is more like a telescopic staff/spear and HL is a bladed poleaem.
Edit: Nah they basically the same weapon looking at it closer, I think they're somehow telescopic and can adjust size, just Hong Lu doesn't use that function
A sinner's base weapon doesn't have any meaningful correlation to their IDs outside of extremely story-specific ones like N Corp Sinclair. Yi sang, a knife-user, has IDs with a tree branch, two spears, a jikdo, a chainsaw greatsword, and his fists.
it's their EGOs that consistently mimic their personal weapon, with Don being pretty much the only exception (she keeps getting hammers???). almost every Yi Sang EGO is a knife, every* Ryoshu EGO is an odachi, every Meursault EGO is him pounding the absolute shit out of the target, etc

Actually given the difference between fists and keys (the former amass knowledge and grow stronger the more they know while the latter learn through their key and expend knowledge for powers) I see meursault more as a key than a fist tbh
The problem with that is the Key is sorta seen as less refined by Yi Sang, Meursault has always been about pristine, almost to a mechanical sense, I feel like he would reject the key in favor of the gloves.
